No one else on the league has a better singing voice

Not even Batman

They killed him when he was already down. If they weren't trying to take him out, and he didn't have a few years to set up plot devices, Supes coulda done it by his damn self. :o

Even with Darkseid was already down he was still causing mass chaos. His dying essence was still causing time and space to fall apart.

Which means they probably shouldn't have killed him. :o

Im officially dropping JLA. This book sucks, both the writing and the art.

I think I'm gonna finish out 6 issues, then drop it. Johns could give Bendis a run for his money in decompressed stories.

I literally just picked up #3..kinda scared to read it now. lol

Well its no worse than the last two issues. I think every issue has sucked so far but I was willing to give the series a chance. But im done now.

Won't have a chance to get to the comic book shop until this weekend.
Issue 3 really that bad?

I think Issue 3 was an improvement in all departments say for kinda the art. Just seems not as good as the previous issues. As for the writing, I think it's going to be more enjoyable once we get to the present time. Because thing is, these aren't OUR heroes. It's their younger and inexperienced selves. Not enjoying that aspect too much. :/

Just because the characters are younger and inexperienced doesn't mean that they, and the story, can't be interesting. This series is just all sorts of boring.

I liked the art, but what is up with the dialogue among the heroes?

I'm surprised at the hate

I quite enjoyed this issue

at if it keeps at this pace, decompression is no longer a valid complaint

I don't see the argument that its decompressed. Especially with this issue, Johns kicks the storytelling into high gear. It's only issue #3 and we saw an epic battle. If this were a bendis book, he probably would have spent 3/4's of the issue introducing Wonder Woman with talking heads throughout the whole issue. Johns gives us a little background on her and then quickly assembles the team to a big battle. Plus Cyborg is born, I wasn't expecting that to happen so quickly. I definitely think the storytelling is at a much brisker pace now.

The only thing i wasn't a fan of was the last page with Aquaman. It was beautiful looking page but the words coming out of Aquaman's mouth kind of ruined it. Seems very different from how he is in his own book, in fact he actually looks a lot older here, and this is supposed to be 5 years ago right?

seriously? what happened in this issue? a bunch of fighting parademons and two more members of the league randomly show up.

this is decompression to the max. 3 issues to tell us that "oh no, there are aliens attacking earth." Johns is wasting too much time trying to build characters that 1) people, whether long-term comic book readers or not, know and 2) all have their own books to build their character.

Yeah but i think Johns has to give us some sort of introduction to these guys. I mean the book has to stand up on it's own without relying on the solo books. It just wouldn't have been right if the League was assembled from page 1 of issue 1. After all this is supposed to be sort of a "new beginning". You have to establish the players on the board first before you start knocking them down and moving them around no?

I think Justice League's biggest problem is that Johns is writing a Jim Lee comic. If there is one thing that Johns is really good at, it's showcasing the artists that he works with and allows the art to show off it's full potential. Think of his work with Gary Frank, Francis Manapul, Ivan Reis, Scott Kolins, Ethan van Sciver, and Doug Mahnke, there's a reason why these artists really like working with Johns.

Jim Lee however, is not the greatest storyteller when it comes to his art. It's all about visual flair, but storytelling, not so much. But Johns is really letting Lee's art shine here and it's kind of a detriment to the series storywise. It's still a good book, but it's clearly Johns' weakest book.

I think the book would stand on it's own just fine without Johns setting up any of the characters, actually. The point of the JL is that it's all of DC's iconic characters. People don't need to be told who they are. Apart from Cyborg, these characters need no introduction, and it's a waste of page space since if gives nothing to either new readers or established readers. I'm getting tired of hearing every hero say "YOU MEAN BATMAN DOESN'T HAVE ANY POWERS?!?!?"

It is DC's Iconic characters, but that doesn't mean that most of them don't need introduction. The target audience of the relaunch is people who haven't been exposed to them en masse. They're people who think Aquaman is useless due to the Superfriends. Who don't know that GL and Flash have differing personalities for the same reason.

I actually like how the characters take jabs at each other. Hal's reaction to WW was priceless. In fact, i love this version of Hal period. Johns always wrote him so damn serious in his own book, its nice to see a more fun, wittier version of him here. Barry too. Their chemistry is really good in this book.

maybe it is because I've been exposed to them pretty much my whole life, but it's boring me.
