But anywho, in non-costume related talk, just finished 613.
Not a whole lot to really say about it. It's all just kind of Nemesis explaining what happened and all of that stuff. They aren't as blatant about it as last issue, but there's still that bizarre implication that somehow Wonder Woman has more love for humanity in this Odyssey version. Which, as I argued before, is just flatout BS. But beside that, it was kind of neat seeing the two WW come together into the new old version or whatever. It's kind of like the favorite line from this issue, 'Sister, this isn't you. Or me--Or whatever.' It does just kind of feel like whatever at this point, anyway.
There were two things that really did catch my attention. I guess they're spoilers and all, but considering how no one else outside me and Drz seem to end be reading this thing anymore, much less caring about, I'll take out the spoiler tags. If you are, just heed this as your warning of potential spoilers.
-The first one is kind of minor, but it did hit a bizarre cord. So, back in the old timeline Diana fought the Morrigan because they were going to attack Paradise Island, and they overpowered her. Well, okay. The thing that stood out in that exchange is that WW came alone, which they commented on, and she responded by saying, 'Who do you think I am! I know Batman and Superman!' I just can't for the life of my understand what that is suppose to imply. I guess they are showing Wonder Woman was arrogant because she simply knew Batman & Superman? That was something that, while fairly minor, I couldn't help but go back and read it again. Very strange.
-The other part is a little bigger. After they beat Diana and take her form, they then talk about attacking Paradise Island. The only problem is that, according to early issues, Paradise Island was attacked when Diana was two years old. So, what exactly happened there? Did the timeline just...like instantly change when Diana was overpowered, and the Morrigan didn't realize? Though, they had to have since the invaders were looking for Diana specifically, and then Nemesis admits they even manipulated her in Man's World. So...yeah. It feels like there's a very large gap there that's just kind of ignored.
I guess you can explain that away in two ways simply enough: 1) They just kind of instantly realized the timeline changed just didn't say it aloud or 2) They didn't realize it at the time, but as they looked at the world around them they realized it and retooled their plans. Either are good enough reasons, but it felt like there needed to be some kind of indication. It just felt sort of wonky without one.
And, of the non-spoiler variety, I glanced through the letters page, and it was noted that there are no plans in the immediate future for Steve Trevor. So, it's doubtful for him to appear in the relaunch.
