Hi, thought this would be quiet cool to have, discuss and so forth... This is the first x-men film to be shot mostly in the UK, so i thought Lets discuss locations and possible sets that could appear in x-men first class, whilst also reporting news and photos of filming on sets.

But intil they start filming, where do people feel we will see in this movie. I have a few ideas.

I have a theory, see London doesnt really have much to do with Xaviers life growing up. And i dont think they will film in westchester or the familiar hartley castle that we saw in the previous films.

So i figure we might see alot of filming done in Oxford

firstly Charles Xaviers history sees him studying at Oxford University. Then if you look at Oxfordshire there is lots of buildings similar to that of Hatley Castle, so i figure they might film around that area for alot of external shots... but think of this as well Rosamund Pike studied at Wadham college in Oxford. And she is playing Moria McTaggart who met Charles Xavier in Oxford University. it would just make sense.

So here is my ideas for filming

This is Oxford University

Mapledurham House somewhere in Oxford... Looks very similar to Xaviers Mansion... although red bricked and hartley castle was white or gray bricked in the comics the mansion was rebuilt several times.

they have started building sets in 2 of the big stages where i work - im gonna try and have a look tomorrow on my lunch break

Just looking around, if Muir island was 50 miles off the northern coastline of scottland, this could possibly be a contender for the island...

Fair Island

This picture reminds me of the episode of x-men animated when rogue goes to find the cure to mutation...

pedit : i probably shouldnt publicise as much as i am

Well pinewood is where they are making the movie and pinewood is where they are making the sets so just out of a pure guess.... is it Oh... the warner brothers studio?

I guess if they use a different facade for the mansion, they could always destroy it and built it bigger and better. Go the Batman Begins route and reinforce the lower levels, as well as fortify the school in general and provide the secret passages we saw in X2.

Thats actually quiet a good idea.

I mean, the x-mansion hasnt been destroyed in any of the movies as of yet but in the comics it has happened more than once.

Essential the building as seen above could of been what xaviers mansion originally looked like before they build the new one.

And since we never saw the mansion in flashbacks or in Wolverine, it's not stepping on any toes by changing that bad boy

everything is all wood lat time i looked round, nothing interesting or even recognisable yet

That must mean that Black Tom is the villain and that he's turning everything into wood with his Secondary and Tertiary Mutations!1!

Some filming for DOFP may possibly take place in Québec City. Decision should be made soon apparently.

From Le Journal de Québec (Tuesday, March 5, 2013):
