The inbetween didn't come from me. That came from Bryan Singer and also marvelrobbins just posted a video that features the producer saying, that they will try to keep things closer to the original trilogy despite having a new timeline. Like for example, Nicholas Hoult being close to Kelsey Grammer's Beast.

If Apocalypse isn't really an inbetween, they could pick and choose which X-Men members they are gonna choose and not the obvious Scott-Jean-Ororo trio.

And its pretty clear to see the Altered future and where things ended with the FC cast is now the new timeline. The OT cast/FC cast still exists in 1 timeline, just with the OT cast having a new history.

Anyway, having a new timeline will just make things easier for the producers to forward, they can re-introduce Gambit without the baggage from Origins, they can re-introduce Nightcrawler in a different period w/o the baggage from X2 and they can move forward with the OT cast now the 2 who died before are resurrected.

I hadn't seen that video. Well, even with a new timeline, they could make the same choices that places them where they were in the original trilogy or they could make different choices that could or could not line up with the original trilogy. Either way, I see what they're saying. They have a license to do what they want now that it's a new timeline.

Just got back from the movie, posted a quick thought on the movie in another thread, wanted to go a bit more in depth here.

Simply put, this movie is amazing, and could very well be the best CBM ever after a few more re-watches. So much of it was good and just felt RIGHT, and the range of emotions you go through is something to behold.

I have always liked Singers movies for this reason, yeah, he isnt the best action director (though some of his sequences are up there with the best) and that doesnt change in this movie really, but the emotion he brings to his movies is something no other CBM franchise comes near. There were a few instances I was nearly in tears with this movie and everyone one of them was superb and elevates this movie beyond fare like the MCU and latest Spiderman movies.

It really is something to behold, and Singer gets you so invested in the characters everytime. The movie is put together so well that it acts as a perfect sequel to both FC and the older movies.

The future scenes are awesome (though I would have liked a bit more), its so good seeing the old cast members, and the future ending of the movie is just wow, I could barely contain myself, there were nearly tears again, but this time of happiness.

And then the past scenes are just as good, if not better, the whole cast is great, and I mean great, and their acting skills are just utilised so well. And this really was Charles' movie, and both Stewart and even more so McAvoy knock it out of the park. Then of course there is Jackman, Lawrence, Fassbender, Hoult and Dinklage to give amazing support.

As an X-Men fan I am so happy right now, the franchise was already back on track with FC and TW both being very good, but DOFP just goes beyond that into something special and a movie that will live in the memory a long time for me.

I do have problems, despite being a main character Wolverine got very little action, would have liked to see more from him. As mentioned before also Singer isnt the best when it comes to action, though he makes up for that in many other ways. I also didnt like the ending for Wolverine in the past [BLACKOUT] I actually would have much preferred it if it actually was Stryker who fished Wolverine out of the water, and not Mystique disguised as him, seemed a strange choice considering the journey past Wolvie will have to go on with the adamantium and all [/BLACKOUT].

I also didnt like the off-screen deaths of some FC characters, but mainly [BLACKOUT] Banshee[/BLACKOUT], would have preferred him being able to come back.

Also, someone else mentioned earlier that Rogue's future scenes should have been kept in, I agree, I think the future needed one more major sequence and the movie would have ben pretty much perfect.

Make no mistake though, this movie really is something special, and is one of the best CBM's ever made, if not THE best, go and see it, you wont be disappointed. 10/10.

I think the thing is even though the ideologies will be present they won't always be the forefront of the movie, as such you can still craft different stories around it. The thing is with different ideologies comes different ways to handle whatever the situation is, one film Xavier might get his way, another Magneto might. The game those two play both literally and figuratively is a chess match, and there are so many ways to play it. To me it's similar to the Batman/Superman relationship, they're both striving for the same goal but coming at it from different perspectives, the difference with X-Men is the perspectives are a bit more extreme.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. That ideology will always be there as long as you have Xavier and Erik at the heart of the series.

Still, they've gotta figure out more clear plots that demonstrate those ideologies without resorting to human vs. mutant, humans wipe out mutants/Erik turns plots that they've basically hooked the franchise to.

I can't find the link. Ask Marvel robbins.

EDIT:
Although time travel In DOFP makes events of trilogy happening questionable
producers talk future
http://www.superherohype.com/feature...x-men#/slide/1

They talk about moving status quoe closer to trilogy

Xavier starting school
Beast closer to Kelsey Grammer beast
Mystique realigned with Magneto

So when 1973 Wolverine's consciousness wakes up, does he remember the events of the last few days?

When he starts to lose it in the boardroom in Paris, he seems to forget what's happened since his future self took over - meeting Xavier, traveling to France - so I think he probably won't remember anything that he did.

No. You saw that when he came back briefly in Paris. He had no idea what was going on.

That would be a good way to explain his memory loss instead if magic adamantium bullet. But since he isn't supposed to remember how got bonded with adamantium, it won't work.

That story hasn't played out for Logan in the new timeline yet, so we're all good on that front.

I really liked that Wolverine didn't save the day here. That there wasn't a traditional villain to fight at the end.

Just got back. Loved it, however I have a few questions if you could possibly help:

1) Is there any official explanation for how Xavier is alive in the future?

2) Are Kitty's time travel abilities a secondary mutation?

3) Is the new timeline just simply due to going back into the past or is it that Xavier helped shape a better one with his knowledge of the OT?

Many thanks!

1. No. They assume you remember the after credit scene in X3.

2. Seems that way.

3. I think both. By nature of just going back, the future changes.

Hi!

1. No.

2. No explanation was given, it is assumed they are.

3. It could be both, actually.

EDIT: Sorry, I missed samsnee's response.

LOVED it! best X-Men movie so far. glad that Singer came back and fixed everything that was wrong with Last Stand and perhaps even Origins.

the ending at the mansion seeing Scott, Jean, and Hank again was awesome! really hope we do get another film with the old cast again as to have a proper send off for them

When kinberg says he wants thing closer to the trilogy I think people are putting to much thought into it, he says xavier starting the school... That's not just part of the trilogy that's part of X-men in general so you can't not have that and it's only right it be with cyclops and jean at the least, hoults beast turning into Kelsey's beast (hopefully he won't look as silly as kelseys in DOFP) makes sense as again its comic accurate

The mystique one I question though, I know kinberg has said they have some freedom because of the changes in DOFP so we will see, I mean to give mystique some strong rebel/independence just to turn her into magnetos pet assassin again... Seems abit like giving her some strength as a solo villain to then take it away again

The Birmingham Mail's film reviewer Graham Young gives it 4 out of 5 :yay:

He liked it, overall, but he did get mixed up and say the opening narration was by McKellen, lol.

I just got that changed for the online version but too late for the print edition.

Worth adding that Graham sees about five films a week and is on Rotten Tomatoes...

I enjoyed it and thought they handled the rather complicated plot and back and forth pretty well...But, I don't know, it just felt unsatifying in a way. I think the ending really fell flat for me after all that build-up. I didn't walk out of there wanting to see it again, though I enjoyed it. Glad to see some things "fixed."
