Official Rulk Thread

It's funny though how when Loeb is given Hulk, he can get away with it...But when he pulls this crap with the Ultimates, it's just crap.

Well....My definition of "what it is" is the exact way I'd explain Transformers. Dumb, entertaining fun that's easy on the eyes. :yay:
"Easy on the eyes" probably has a lot to do with it. If anyone other than McGuinness were drawing this series, I bet it wouldn't be nearly as successful.

I'll gladly agree with you on that. I absolutely love the full page pannels. The art draws me in to such a degree that it allows me to overlook things such as "oh...the...HUMANITY!"...Okay, maybe not that one.

Red Hulk blows.

Can we have WWH-Hulk back please?
Hahahaha! Yeah, I know what you mean. It's kinda cool that it's not Banner though so it's not like he's just ****ing up the character. It is just action-packed fun, not totally serious.

It would've been way cooler if Hulk had his PH/WWH personality since "A-Bomb" has the exact same personality as the "savage" green Hulk. I think it would add a variety.

But more importantly, I don't really mind considering we have Pak kicking ass on Skaar: Son of Hulk. This way, when Pak is done with Skaar he can come back to Hulk (hopefully!) and kick focus more on Banner and then who cares about the red Hulk.

Oh yeah, and where the **** is Pags?! I was assuming that he would be on pencil duties for Skaar because of the varient cover he did that was advertised... It's not like the guy they currently have on the book is bad, I like his Conan-styled art and it works well for the book... But Pags rocked the **** out of Planet Hulk and TIH while he was on pencil duties and I really thought he deserved to stick around.

Pagulayan seems to have been placed in the rotation for Iron Man: Director of SHIELD artists, actually. Frankly, with masters like Ron Garney and Ed McGuinness on the Hulk's books, I'm okay with Pags doing other stuff. His work on Iron Man has been just as impressive as his Hulk work, too. It's good stuff.

Cool! How's the writing on that, BTW?

Very, very good. I'd recommend checking out the trade for an arc called "Haunted" when it comes out in another month or two. It just ended in the comic itself and it basically made the Mandarin one of the most awesome villains in comics right now.

Iron Man: Director of SHIELD easily has some of the best writing talent going for it in the current Marvel roster. It manages to take a post-Civil War Tony and show him as a complex man, not just as "the bad guy". It makes use of the old armors and the Mandarin in the "Haunted" storyline, too.

Yeah, the Knaufs worked some nostalgic armor appearances into the story quite organically.

why did the Knaufs leave the book? Did they ever explain why?

I never heard a solid reason why. They're just concentrating on Eternals and other work now, I guess. I don't mind, though. They put in 3 or 4 arcs' worth of great work on Director of SHIELD and now Stuart Moore is writing an interesting arc featuring the return of the Overkill Horn, and then Christos Gage is going to write an arc about War Machine taking over as Director of SHIELD while Tony's out of commission due to the events of Secret Invasion. I'm looking forward to the War Machine arc a lot.

How's the current Overkill arc? I'm tryin to decide if i should invest in that or Fraction's new Invincible Ironman.

It's really good. A bit more comic bookish than the Knaufs', since Iron Man looks to be fighting a giant, floating, techno-brain in the next issue rather than stopping any attempts at global genocide, but other than the crazy villain, everything else remains as grounded and politically charged as ever. And, really, it's comics; who doesn't love a floating techno-brain once in a while? :D

I can't really compare it to Invincible Iron Man since I've only read one issue of IIM.

Isn't Skaar an on-going?
Holy crap, yeah it is! I guess I just assumed that it was going to be a 12-14 part maxi, kinda like Planet Hulk. Well, that's pretty awesome news!

Here's a Ron Garney interview that I found.

So does that mean that Pak isn't going to come back to the Hulk? WTF, Marvel?

They'll probably meet up at least once. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Skaar's first story arc ends with him meeting his father. But after that, having him stick around wouldn't really work. The Hulk is definitely one character that wouldn't work in a father/son team setup. Maybe Skaar will leave the Hulk and become something of a cosmic Hulk, sort of like Beta Ray Bill left Asgard to become a cosmic version of Thor back in the late-'80s/early-'90s.

I hope he gets to take on the Guardians of the Galaxy eventually. That would be sick!

I finally got my copy of number 4 and they really powerred down the Hulk making him lose against this red GSC. I did not like it much. I am just hoping that the Hulk comes back in number 6 to take it because anything other then that would tick me off tremendously.

How the hell does the Hulk go from WWH to this...:whatever:

It's absolutely terrible. What's so illogical about that?

Because it's not absolutely terrible. It's exactly what they advertised it as.

Again, using big bold letters:

IF YOU CAME INTO THIS EXPECTING GREAT WRITING, THEN YOU CLEARLY NEED YOUR HEAD EXAMINED.

Hulk #1 (or 2, or 3, or any number): People will hit other people!

I mean Jesus, Marvel pretty much told you that this book was all about pretty pictures and hitting people. Marvel told you this. It's delivering on that. Pretty pictures and people hitting each other in the face. What were you mother****ers expecting? Exactly what were you ****ing expecting?:huh::huh:
