That would be odd, given that Talbot's been dead for years. Stranger things have happened in comics, though.

When did he die?

My opinion is just based on what we know for sure about red. He likes to use guns, he has some kind of a connection with the military/SHIELD (the retinal scan recognized him in #3), he is definately someone from Banner's past, he knows Betty, Rick, and Bruce already, and he doesn't like Banner. I didn't know he died though.

I don't know when he died, but I'm pretty sure it was a good, long time ago. Then again, it might've been during Jones' run, which was largely retconned into a bad dream Nightmare gave Banner...

Soon Congress cut funds from Gamma Base and Talbot decides once and for all to stop the Hulk by using the War Wagon.
Glenn Talbot is killed fighting the Hulk in Japan while piloting the War Wagon, as seen in Incredible Hulk #260. Glenn's nephew Matthew "Matt" Talbot later became a Major himself and an enemy of the Hulk.
His brother Brian Talbot became Grey of the Gamma Corps. In issue #4 of the titular series, it is revealed Brian hated Glenn throughout his life, as Glenn would often beat and humilate him.
So it could be Matt Talbot though it seems unlikely. I just can't think of someone who really fits the bill of who this red Hulk should be.

He gets to fight Hulk next issue and Thor after that so at least we'll get some cool fight scenes drawn by the great Ed McGuiness.

I'm not looking forward to the fight with Thor. Based on all the comments I've seen from Loeb and McGuinness, they'll probably have the red Hulk bulldoze right over Thor, never mind how much more powerful Thor should be now. :(

I personally think this red Hulk should get his ass kicked in the next two issues but that's just because I'm a Hulk and Thor fanboy.

I'd love to see Thor kick his ass, but given that the green Hulk is getting a 2nd round with him in #6, I very much doubt he will.

That just goes to show you how ridiculously stronger the Red Hulk is.

Considering how ridiculously stronger the Green Hulk should be consider "Planet Freaking Hulk", Red Hulk shouldn't last long enough against Green Hulk for Thor to intervene.

Between Red Hulk and Ultimates 3...God, no!

I myself like the thought of Hulk being the absolute strongest non-cosmic Marvel character. The only mortal who can go toe-to-toe with Silver Surfer or Thor.

What about just slightly stronger than Thor?
Pre-Odinpower Thor, sure. With the Odinpower? The Hulk shouldn't stand a chance. Thor shouldn't just stand there and wrestle him, either, but I'm almost certain that's what he'll do because that's what every writer always makes him do.

How did Thor end up with the Odinpower again?

And I don't think this red Hulk is going to be stronger than the classic green Hulk. It seems more like he's strong but the thing that will allow him to have an edge against other Marvel heavy hitters (Banner, Thor, etc) is his intelligence, ruthlessness, and ability to use heavy weapons.

But it's a little annoying that Loeb is making green Hulk a moron again with no explanation for why he doesn't have the same kind of personality as he did for the last couple years... I mean, with Rick Jones being "A-Bomb" I think the quota for stupid third person smash talk would be filled but I guess not...

But how about Skaar: Son of Hulk? Pak is kicking ass with some Planet Hulk-esque, Conan meets Star Wars meets Hulk, action packed storytelling!

Thor received the Odin Power towards the end of the previous vol. as Odin died fighting Sutur and the Odin passed to Thor.

I liked the first issue. I wasn't quite sure what was going on with that little bald kid. That wasn't Skaar, right? But I guess that group of Sakaarans mistook him for Skaar and followed him or something? I think I gotta reread it.

Unfortunately the writing for Hulk comics sometimes has no logic. WWH anyone? But yeah Thor with the Odinpower should laugh at the patheticness of both Hulks because they are beneath him now. But we all know it won't be written that way. Hopefully the writers can throw in a line about Thor holding back because just like the green Hulk there is a human inside of Red Hulk. Wishful thinking a guess.

Except JMS specifically stated that Thor isn't holding back anymore. Oh well, we'll see--if the Hulk series stops skipping months and we actually ever see Hulk #5, that is.

But that was a lie-- or at least, bravado. Thor wasn't holding back, yet he didn't kill Tony, even though we know he is a lot stronger than Tony. So then, Thor was holding back. It was bravado, it was at most a warning, that he wasn't toying aruond with him-- but Thor was definitely holding back.

So will he "not hold back" hold back against Red Hulk? Dunno. We are already told that the fight was going to be nasty, so we'll have to see. At the least, it should look pretty. And I give pretty much every character special dispensation to lose when fighting the Hulk, seeing as how strange things always happen.

That seems prudent, given that pretty much everyone loses to the Hulk at some point, regardless of how little sense it makes.

What, that strange things happen when people fight hulk or that I give people special dispensations to lose (meaning I don't always count it against them when it comes to "who can beat who" fan wanks)?

Marvel has said "most powerful superhero on earth." Take that as you will...:oldrazz:

Since when does Loeb care about continuity?

When hasn't he? Cite specific examples in the 616 where Loeb has blatantly ignored continuity.

Well i dont know if this counts yet, but there is the fact that all of a sudden green hulk is back to his primitive "hulk smash" mode, when we saw hulk/banner in very much control of himself in WWH and intelligent. But in all fairness maybe that will be explained later...
