Official Rulk Thread

I read Dark Victory. It's good, but it feels really derivative of TLH to me. Like Loeb figured out he had a winning formula with TLH so he tried to duplicate it, but it comes off as blatantly formulaic.

So what if you read Dark Victory first?

After speaking to the council of 12 and top ASSHAT members, it is with a heavy heart I announce that I am withdrawing myself from any further defense of this title. I would like to apologize to Mr. TheCorpulent1 for the actions of Jeph Loeb. You have my support.

OMG! Darth has been drinking again! :hehe: ....Seriously, you don't enjoy the title any more Darth? I'm not defending Loeb but I'm sure he has a reason for Jones being the new Abomy and whoever the red Hulk is.

Yeah any enjoyment I had for this title was gone the second
Thor got his ass raped.

You are kidding right?! Red Hulk beat Thor? That's not even possible! Where did you find this out?!

Wow, glad I don't have to waste money on that issue. Come on, Am I supposed to believe [BLACKOUT]Red leaped from the moon to the earth[/BLACKOUT]? That's just dumb.

okay no ...........................

This comic has JUMPED THE SHARK AND THE MOON. This isnt cute, this isnt awesome. This isnt fanboyism, this is just wrong. Characters like thor are getting tossed around like rookies.

Agreed! I don't understand Marvel's point of letting a fully powered Thor with the Thor/Odin force get owned by a savage. Doesn't make sense.

There isn't a logically point. The plan is to just keep Jeph happy. Next arc will see Red Hulk take out Galactus with a pinky toe lock.

I saw the other red hulk thread and got mad....now I'm just in awe of how STUPID this is. I mean come on! I'd complain less if it was a more balanced fight, but he whooped Thor like how Strong guy would beat Cypher with the bird flu! Come on man what is this crap?!

I don't understand these complaints. I don't like this title because the writing in general is poor, but I don't see a problem with Red Hulk beating Thor. He's a brand new character and he happens to be stronger than Thor. Are you guys saying that there shouldn't be any characters in Marvel who can beat Thor? You wouldn't have a problem if Galactus showed up and kicked Thor around, would you?

They're trying to demonstrate that this Red Hulk is far more powerful than most others on Earth. I don't understand why you all think that's so stupid. Some characters are more powerful than others.

Again, I don't want to sound like I'm defending the book, I think it's terrible. I just don't have a problem with Red Hulk being portrayed as a massively powerful character.

For me the problem lies not with the fact that Thor can be overpowered.
I think there really shouldn't be any characters at all that can't be threatened on some level... Otherwise they'd be boring.
The built in weaknesses for Superman, for Silver Surfer, Sentry... Whether it be elemental, physical or psychological there is always something to balance a character out.

Thor has always been a force of nature, a god-tier hero, he was long awaited and then came back, and we were all grateful that the person who brought him back respected the craft, respected the character.
Straczynski built upon existing mythos and brought Thor to the next level, he's more omnipotent then ever.
Everyone has had a sick feeling as too how Thor would be used in other titles, especially considering he's been treated so well in his own.

Now we have a situation where Thor is crossing over into the title of an uninspired character written by an unpopular storyteller.
Now we witness Loeb basically use all the Straczynski build up to his own stupid advantage so he can further drive home the point of how XTREME AWSUM red Hulk is.

Red Hulk is a massively powerful character, and to what end? Whats his bloody point, he isn't massively powerful in any interesting way, I think I'd be raging less hard if I'd seen something similar involving the Sentry and a well crafted story.

My stomach sinks even more to think of what Bendis has in store for us...

You don't understand. The problem is not that RHulk is stronger than Thor, the problem is that the current Thor has the OdinForce and should have put up more of an offense than this. RHulk handled him like a pathetic rookie. I could have dealt with RHulk winning but not in a humiliating manner.

The nonsense with Mjolnir annoyed me. It's not enough for the red Hulk to beat Thor; Loeb had to come up with some cockamamie way for the red Hulk to use Mjolnir against him which, beyond just being lame in general, made absolutely no sense.
