Official Rulk Thread

Don't forget David Alleyne. He absorbed all of the knowledge and skills of every person he met without psychic defenses, which should put him right there with Hank McCoy.

David Alleyne? One of the former students at the Xavier Institute. His power was the involuntary ability to absorb the skills and knowledge (but not the powers) of anyone he stood near. The drawback was that he forgot everything he learned as soon as he got too far away from that person. When he lost his powers after the House of M, it turned out all of the knowledge and skills he learned were still locked in his subconscious. A few telepathic students at the school went into his head and gave him full access to everything he ever learned through his powers. However, with his powers gone, he can't absorb anymore knowledge.

So he should know a bunch of little stuff, like his classmates' sports skills, how to pick a pocket from Storm & Gambit, how to fence with two swords like nightcrawler, and EVERYTHING Beast knows. During Messiah CompleX, he spent most of the crossover fixing Cerebra by himself, and helping Beast perform surgery.

I don't think that makes him as smart as Beast. Intelligence isn't just about knowing stuff, it's about coming up with creative ways to use that knowledge. So, yeah, I'm sure he can assist in surgery just fine, but coming up with that biochemical breakthrough that leads to curing whatever the successor to the Legacy Virus will be? I'd still bet on Beast rather than David.

That reminds me, Don Blake is pretty much a medical genius. He invented medical equipment and was world renowned for his surgical skills and medical knowledge. He's not being portrayed that way now, but he's better than just some doctor in Podunk, Oklahoma.

blake is up there, strange too for that reason.

Oh and you've got strategists like fury and cyclops who might not be book smart but that's a appreciable type of intelligence as well.

I assumed that by taking on Hank's skills, he also took his way of using his knowledge. Of course, that hasn't been shown, so who knows.

Yeah, and then it just gets way out of hand. I suppose "most intelligent" usually just breaks down to "best at science."

Elixir should be a biology genius now too, since the cuckoo's downloaded Beast's knowledge of the human body into his head.

Or at least he'll be the man after those Amazons get done with him.

LOL! Nice.

BTW, I just got done reading Hulk #7. The pros: awesome artwork, lots of action, and this title actually seems to be getting better. The cons: now that there are two stories in one, the pacing will be half as slow.

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by this.

The thing is if you were truly as intelligent as the Leader why would you want to rule Earth or portray yourself as a villain. It makes no sense whatsoever. At least you would be so ambiguous so as to bring people to your side.

Egomania, probably.

I picked up the first 2 issues of this. But because of money issues, I had to cut back on some stuff I pick up each week. I don't know what ended up happening in this, or who he turned out to be.

Anyone wanna answer those for me? I don't care to be spoiled. I guess sum up the important stuff of this series. Thanks in advance.

The secret identity of Rulk is:
we still don't know yet.

So is this comic developing in any positive way?
I remember that there was a lot of people hating this comic, has it gotten better?

marginally.
there are 2 decent artists on now, instead of one. (Art Adams and Frank Cho instead of Ed McGuinness)
one issue into the second arc hasn't developed anything on the mystery plot.
in fact, these stories are continuations of King-Size Hulk, so even if you do collect the rest of the series, you would still need to read that just to wrap your head around the current storyline.

Eh. I wouldn't say that it's that critical but it would help.

Issue #7 was pretty decent, IMO. There was a good bit of ass-kicking and the art is really great. The main big difference is now there are two stories per comic. One featuring the real Hulk, the other featuring Rulk. I guess we'll find out who Rulk is in issue #11 or 12. Crappy, I know, but at least the storytelling is more interesting.

Wow. That sounds almost interesting enough for me to consider the possibility of thinking about putting my hatred aside just long enough to be tempted to download this comic.

Almost.

A couple of megabytes, but after seeing images online of Rulk beating up both Thor and the Watcher (not to mention the extreme disappointment I've had in Loeb since I picked up Ultimates 3 #1), I've decided that I'd rather use those megabytes on a couple of Goldfrapp songs. And I don't even like Goldfrapp.
