Official Script Discussion

I think Kanon was referring to the fact that BB's behavior IS Herbie... he doesn't talk for most of the movie. He communicates all cutesy and stuff, using the radio mainly.
ahhh... gotcha. I can see that. Well, he got better towards the end of the script. Herbie wouldn;t take on Barricade like BB did though :)

How are we having a script discussion, when none of us here have seen the final one? Kinda funny how that works out.

What we've got is so close to final that it would be absurd to disregard any of it.

Collector's item perhaps? I dunno.
I think the whole Camaro thing is crap in its entirety. Just an effort by Bay to reflect his obnoxiousness... and dumb down his audience. It's his forte.

None of the links are working for me either, would someone mind pm me the script please.

Well...how can we talk about this movie period, when noone has seen it? Everyone's just bored that's all.

I am gonna laugh my head off when the movie comes out and is massively different from the online script. :)

everything leaked so far, and judging from what has been said in interviews, it hasn't changed that much.

for anyody who has read the script, would you mind making a little post, with spoiler tags, of who lives and who dies and in the order in which they die, and who kills who?

thanks!

1 - Soldiers in desert by Scorponok.
2 - Scorponok, disabled mostly by soldier heat-bombs.
3 - Jazz by Megatron
4 - Megatron by Spike
It's been a while since I read it, but that's all I remember.

Did this script remind anyone else of Independence Day? The goofy/cliche subplots, the forced humor, the way it spreads itself too thin among WAY too many characters?

I've had a similar impression. I really should write about that in detail sometime.

Just head over to post number 471. There is a link there to the script.

Ugh, I hope that script is just an early draft. So much of the writing is just so cheesy.

Not to mention too much focus is placed on the humans, none of Transformers except for Optimus or Megatron have real lines of dialogue, none of them aside from the aforementioned are discernable from each other in terms of dialogue sans BB but his "lines" are pure stupid novelty. In short, none of the Transformers have any real personality and are treated just as robots not as true individual characters. They are robots that happen to have certain names and certain aesthetic characteristics that set them apart from each other. That's where the differences end.

The story almost entirely revolves around the human characters and it seems aside from the action sequences everything Transformers is secondary.

The dialogue in general among the human characters is uncreative and cliche. They're two dimensional and there is almost no development. I don't find myself caring about anyone. Even the Transformers. The only emotional pull I have towards them is nostalgia. And that presupposes the Transformers have any relation to their original cartoon counterparts. Which, in relation to the Decepiticons, they barely have any.

And the notion that Megatron is responsible for ALL technology? If I was lactose intolerent this movie would have me sitting on a toilet all day it's so full of cheese.

Area 52? COME THE **** ON. HOOVER DAM BUILT TO CONTAIN ENERGY?!

Sigh. calm.

The Suicidal Tendencies thing make me crack up, however. On a note related to the scene, the idea that the energon cube just makes anything electronic a Transformer is pretty dumb.

The story is flimsy and hardly even there. They tried to pack too many characters into this and ultimately they took up more time introducing them than putting focus on the Transformers or THEIR journey.

Obviously a movie has to have characters you sympathize with but that doesn't necessarily mean they have to be human.

That being said, the movie succedes in what it intended to be: an action movie. BIG EFFING ROBOTS! etc. The action scenes read well. They will obviously be the best part of the film and the only reason to go see it. They sound entertaining and intense. There is no nostalgic value to this film except aesthetically and namewise.

agreed. cliched and crappy typical michael bay production that will have great action but little resemblance to any TF'S bar optimus.
everyone else, including megatron couldve been a generic made up tf for the film.
the title characters are secondary in their own movie. as spike/sam whatever he is going to be called is the who the story revolves around. and it doesnt revolve around him in the sense that he is the human connection to the TFs.
the whole film revolves around his desire for the cool chick who he obviously gets and the fact that he is the saviour. he kills megatron.....
sad sad.
oh well. at least we will see optimus prime mostly faithfull big screen translation. that alone is the only reason worth watching this film.

And can you just imagine it with Bay's cheesy background music, acting that consists basically of a lot eyebrow raising, his A.D.D. always moving corny camera work, and distracting editing? We got a whopper of a movie.

I didn't know about Area 52 (sigh)... but I did know about the Arctic (double-sigh). And you also forgot to mention the magic glasses (chuckle). I want the 4-million yr old ancient deactivated spaceship in the mountain--- but I guess that's a bit too heady. We need cheese instead.

Apparently, some pages of a revised script have leaked online, got it from www.comics2film.com. Someone save it fast before it´s taken out! I can´t, I´m not in my computer.

Looks like the exact same thing as the full script I already have.... Damn!
I was hoping the script I have would be totally re-worked.....

It is the very same script. It says it's from February, just like the one we got.
