Official Script Discussion

And we all know just how reliable Market Research is. Look at The New Coke circa 1985. Anyone interested in the Hollywood mechanics of "Producers" should watch Tim Burton's Ed Wood... or "The Producers" play for that matter. I think producers (for the most part) are scum and have ruined many a movie.

Movies should be more about the art than about the money. It's filmmakers that know how to balance the two that are great (Spielberg is the epitamy of this). Filmmakers that just see dollar signs are the crappiest of the crap (Michael Bay, Roland Emmerich).... IMHO, for sure, but also many a Hollywood watcher's opinion too.

I don't disagree with you, but to think that things should work differently is not the same as ignoring the way that they DO work. This is the way it is, and someone with a lesser known name as a director is a slave to the system. Plus, there is only so much someone can do to polish a turd. The script for x3 was weak, but the film is a technical achievement. Transformers will be the same...it will look fantastic, it will be shot well and it will deliver a visual treat. Transformers was never really high-art. The cartoon was pure 80's cheese, and as good as the comic was, it wasn't good enough to be called a classic. I say this as a very big fan of Transformers, that still collects G1 toys, many of them were my most prized posessions as a teenager. The toys were cool...the characters were relatable, and if they can retain some of the magic then the movie should be fun at least.

Everybody is talking about the SCRIPT. I wish I could join the discussion. I love spoilers. :(

Go back a few pages and you will find a link. I believe it is post #361 OR #631. Good luck.

I just found it. Thanks. I hope I'm reading the right one.

Revision by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman. 112 pages total.

BTW, I've read the whole thread. Those are dead links.

Yeah, but if you want to see what the Transformers looked like pre-Earth mode, then read the prequel comics by Simon Furman and Don Figueroa. :)

True, War Within was an awsome series.

I wasn't talking about WW, I was talking about the prequel comics they are doing for the new live-action movie, the one this whole thread was about.

If the art is anything like the balloonformer Jazz pic I might just chew my own arm off instead.

well, the links are not working now...I guess i'm the only one by now who hasnt read it yet...lol.

The Rapidshare version doesn't work for me. It says it's been deleted. Does anyone else have it saved?

Trust me. At this point, you're better off not reading it. Filming has completed and even if the final script isn't that much different (and I don't think it is), things invariably change during actual filming (based on what direction the director thinks the movie is taking).

Still, I'd like to see what it was like. I actually prefer the stranger alternate drafts than scripts that are 100% like the film version.

Are you sure you checked the last link? It's not the same as the old, and it works fine.

Did anyone catch the nod to David Lynch's Wild at Heart? Bernie Mac character's line when he introduces himself is "Bobby Bolivia. Like the country." - an obvious nod to William Dafoe's "Bobby Peru. Like the country."

If you look closely enough every concept and line of dialogue is taken from other movies. :o

You don't have to look that closely IMO. lol.
This is, after all, the same writer that gave us Catwoman.

The script is horrible. The movie is spent revolving around human characters I could care less about for the attempt at adding depth when it could be making the Cybertronians less 'painted on' (Bumble Bee, anyone?), and is exceedingly under par. I have no idea how anyone could think this is a good idea. If this is anything like the real working script this film is going to be exactly as some people have been describing it- 'ID4 with robots'.

Everyone is holding out hope that the script has been revised.
But, judging from Bay's (what can you say about this guy that hasn't already been said?), Rogers (Catwoman), not to mention Murphy's (LGX) past efforts I wouldn't hold my breath. Kurtzman holds some promise (MI3, The Island). But, I sincerely doubt the script has changed enough to make a difference. The explosions, death, and mayhem will be pretty tho.
