The Amazing Spider-Man Official The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Timeline Thread

Yeah, I dunno. I just don't think she'd slap him for missing the funeral either. I'm trying to come up with reasons for why she would do it. Maybe they went the comics route and she blames him for her father's death.

Doubt Spider-Man will end on a tragic note.

Spider-Man isn't Batman. The part of Spider-Man that many people like is how he deals with the tragedy and moves past it.

Whilst Batman just broods. =P

I think we should go back and look at more set photos. Like when pete and gwen are on the bleachers, when gwen is running to the police car, when the helicopter is at mshs

The movie doesn't have to end on a tragic note. Doesn't C. Thomas Howell's character help Spidey become a hero in the eyes of New York?

EDIT: Forgot to catch this: I think the SDCC footage had Uncle Ben say "with great power comes great responsibility" after he finds Peter in trouble at school.

  • We find a young Peter Parker at Ben and May Parker's home. His parents are leaving him behind to attend to "something [Peter's] mother and [father] need to take care of." Peter is then left in the care of Ben and May.
  • Fast forward to present day where we meet an older Peter at Midtown Science High School. He's smart, but somewhat socially awkward and a bit of an outsider. As he walks down the halls people stare and simultaneously avoid him. At Peter's locker, popular basketball player Flash Thompson tosses his basketball at him.
  • Gwen Stacy is introduced at some point here. Peter probably has an apparent crush on her.
  • Peter heads home and accidentally stumbles upon his father's old briefcase. He asks Uncle Ben about it, and Peter finds out that it belongs to his father. Inside, he finds an old pair of glasses as well as many things pertaining to Oscorp.
  • Peter further investigates his connection to Oscorp, where he runs into Gwen Stacy. The two are friendly to each other, but Gwen warns Peter not to cause any trouble. Dr. Curt Connors is then introduced as an Oscorp herpetologist/geneticist, who asks a group of people how he could grow his arm back. Peter raises his hand in the crowd and mentions "cross-species genetics." Connors is impressed.
  • Peter meanders into the depths of the building and enters a lab of enhanced spiders. Peter notices one is missing and gets bit shortly after. Oscorp scientist Nels Van Atter finds Peter in the room and asks him to leave.
  • Nervous about what has happened, Peter flees Oscorp and avoids leading onto what happened to avoid getting Gwen in trouble as she advised him not to touch anything. Peter boards a train to Queens where he bumps into a couple of ruffians who break his skateboard. Upset about what has happened, Peter discovers a newfound set of abilities and easily handles the thugs. On his way home, Peter also discovers that he has a huge appetite and goes to the market to pick up some food.
  • Upon returning home, Peter finds that his Uncle Ben and Aunt May have waited up for him. Confused at the broken skateboard and the mound of food, Aunt May inquires, "Peter, what's going on." Peter discovers his spidey-sense, as he snatches a fly with superhuman reflexes.
  • After doing his best to lead his aunt and uncle onto anything unusual, Peter rushes up to his bathroom where he discovers a thin strand of web dangling from the back of his neck. Peter yanks it out and analyzes it to make sure these things are really happening.
  • After taking some time to think over what has happened Peter goes to bed. He wakes up the next morning to his alarm clock. He tries to turn it off, but instead smashes the clock. Confused, he wanders into the bathroom and attempts to brush his teeth. He tries to open the sink, but instead rips the sink knobs with ease. He tries to squeeze his toothpaste to his toothbrush, but instead makes the tube of toothpaste explode.
  • Peter, while still unsure of what this all could mean, gains confidence from his new abilities. Peter dares Flash to try and attempt to get the ball from him. Flash fails to do so and seeks revenge on Peter after class for humiliating him in front of his friends. Peter counters and pins Flash up against the locker before a teacher can step in and bring him to the principal.
  • Uncle Ben is called into school and meets with Peter's principal. Afterwards, he discusses with Peter why he did it, and if it was done to the boy who gave him all those bruises. Uncle Ben gives Peter the "with great power, comes great responsibility" lecture, but not before Gwen Stacy walks down the hall. Uncle Ben recognizes her as the girl on Peter's computer. Peter asks Uncle Ben to walk out so Peter and Gwen could have time together. Embarrassed, Peter awkwardly attempts to fix the conversation by trying to ask Gwen out. Gwen finishes his sentence for him and agrees.
  • After figuring how fun it was to pick on Flash, Peter begins to realize that he can go out and beat up thugs without very much risk for his fun.
  • Happy-go-lucky Peter and Gwen spend time in the school bleachers. The couple look at a significant coin (we don't know much about it, but there are pictures I posted in the Photo thread that have the two looking curiously at a coin.
  • After a few nights of Peter returning home late, Uncle Ben confronts him about it and the bruises he brings home. Peter gets angry and runs out again with Uncle Ben following.
  • Peter finds a hiding spot in a not so friendly neighborhood and ignores Uncle Ben's calls. After a while, Peter hears a gunshot and cautiously approaches the scene.
  • He comes across a dying Uncle Ben in a side alley. Peter urges anyone that can hear to call an ambulance as Uncle Ben dies in his arms.
  • Uncle Ben's funeral probably happens at some point here with Gwen consoling Peter.
  • Peter delves further into the mystery of his father to try and keep his mind off of his Uncle. He finds a formula for an adhesive and eventually develops it into a web formula. He also spends time constructing webshooters and developing his costume as he has realized that he has spider powers and can use them for good. He thwarts a number of petty crimes including a car jacking, one crime involving Uncle Ben's killer. Spidey finds the killer and brings him to justice.
  • Dr. Connors has taken an interest into Peter by virtue of Peter's intelligence. He invites Peter back to Oscorp to show him some of his theories and experiments.
  • After Peter leaves, Dr. Connors asks himself if he's, "ready to play God?" He records himself explaining the procedure, his expected results and injects himself with his regenerative formula. Things start out as planned, but shortly after, they go haywire. He slowly develops scales. As he looks at himself transforming into this monster, he declares himself as a new, beautiful being.
  • Dr. Connors continues his testing to try and perfect the formula for his arm, but continues to fall short. He eventually turns into a massive lizard and proceeds to the sewer system.
  • The Lizard follows the sewer system to Midtown High where he stalks a couple of high school girls. The girls sprint out from the bathroom as Peter and Gwen are talking. Peter's spider sense goes off before the Lizard busts through the wall of the bathroom. As students flee for the exits, Peter ducks into a vacant classroom to get into costume.
  • Spidey and the Lizard battle all throughout the school as the fight spills into the cafeteria, classrooms and the library. Peter's nervousness is evident as he hasn't fought anything like this before.
  • Eventually the Lizard escapes to the sewers again where he reverts back to his human side of Dr. Connors. Captain George Stacy steps into the scene with police at his side.
  • Gwen invites Peter over for dinner where Peter meets Captain Stacy. After a bit of small talk, the topic gets changed to the recent battle that the Lizard had with Spider-Man, and the many crimes that Spidey has averted. Captain Stacy believes that what Spider-Man is doing is wrong and while they are fighting for the same thing, Captain Stacy does it legally and with a badge. Gwen attempts to defend Spidey and, in turn, Peter.
  • The Lizard continues his reign of terror on NYC as Spider-Man officially has a warrant out for his arrest.
  • Soon after, the Lizard again flees to the sewers and Spidey follows in pursuit. Captain Stacy deploys his men to both take down the Lizard and Spider-Man. Spider-Man focuses primarily on the Lizard while avoiding the NYPD/SWAT officers. Eventually, Captain Stacy is killed by the Lizard in battle. They battle it out and Peter eventually rips off his mask in one last attempt to reach through to Dr. Connors yelling, "DR. CONNORS! STOP! THIS ISN'T YOU!"
  • Peter escapes the brawl, walking home with bruises.
  • Captain Stacy's funeral is held and Peter can't muster up the courage to go to the funeral in person, knowing how upset Gwen must be. Instead he watches from afar and swings overhead as Gwen Stacy looks up into a rainy sky.
  • At the Parker household, Gwen asks why Peter wasn't at the funeral and he tries to explain to her why but can't seem to do it. Gwen slaps Peter and walks off.
  • Somewhere down the line, Peter finds out what exactly happened to his parents, and decides to return to Oscorp to find the people who were there, or were responsible.
  • Peter returns to Oscorp as Spider-Man, running again into Nels Van Atter. As it turns out Van Atter knows exactly who Peter is and what has happened to him. Dr. Connors stumbles into the confrontation, and transforms into the Lizard again. An accident kills Van Atter and spurls a Lizard-Spidey fight into the New York streets.
  • Spider-Man and the Lizard have their final battle on a bridge. Spider-Man also saves a construction worker's son before the Lizard is able to harm him and returns him to safety. After defeating the Lizard, the construction worker rallies for Spidey's heroics as he escapes the scene, a hero to New York.
  • The morning after the fight, Gwen tends to Peter's wounds, and finds out that he is Spider-Man. Peter probably tells Gwen that nobody could know about his identity or else Gwen's safety might be compromised. They decide that they are, hence, unable to have a relationship. Gwen acknowledges that Spider-Man should continue his crimefighting.
  • With Spider-Man viewed as a hero in the eyes of New York, Spidey swings through the city triumphantly. Roll credits.

Some of this might seem crammed together. I have school in a few minutes, so I had to make it snappy. I prefer this ending, to be quite honest. Maybe that's just my ego :woot:

Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 3 ended on tragic notes...

And the SDCC footage never said that Uncle Ben said that, people just stated that the talk and scene was similar to the one in Spider-Man 1 when Uncle Ben said it to Peter.

I think we will get the movie we've been waiting for.

Why is everyone talking about a slap scene? I've heard nothing about a slap scene

There was a scene where Gwen, teary eyed, walks up to Peter's door, he opens it, they briefly talk and she slaps him. Some photos from the scene:

There were a few more that I remember but I can't find them right now. It's hard to tell whether or not that second picture was taken while they were filming but it doesn't seem like it was.

So... no comments on this? :oldrazz:

I don't think Peter is going to tell her he can't be in a relationship with her, and that scene also takes place at night not in the morning.

My theory is that Captain Stacy dies during a battle between the Lizard and Spidey and Peter feels to guilty to attend the funeral in person and instead watches from afar. Gwen goes to his house the next morning asks him why he wasn't there for her and slaps him.

I mean, I don't think it's rude when you really think about it. Imagine if your father or mother died and the one you loved wasn't there for you during the funeral.

However, at the same time, you can understand why Peter didn't go because he probably partially feels at fault. Marc Webb is the master of emotion and I think this is exactly the type of dynamic he'll be looking for.

I think gwen finds out he's spidey after captain stacy dies.
But then the whole slapping thing wouldn't fit right

hahaha Not at all. I don't think Gwen would slap him before finding out. That wouldn't really make sense. It's also evident that Peter won't be at the funeral seeing as Peter is nowhere in sight in the set photos.

So Spidey'll be watching the funeral from afar. It explains 1, 2 of the set pics.

I don't think Peter is going to tell her he can't be in a relationship with her, and that scene also takes place at night not in the morning.

The setting doesn't really matter. To be honest, I just picked a setting randomly :oldrazz:

But to the first point, I can't picture Gwen and Peter having a pretty solid relationship after a possible ordeal with Gwen blaming Spider-Man for her father's death, and being angry at Peter for not being there for her. The relationship is very ironic, in that everything people will say about Spider-Man will be something that Peter feels, because, of course, he is Spider-Man. There are a lot of implications people have to draw from everything.

Like, what would happen if Gwen knew Peter went out in red-and-blue tights fighting criminals every day? What should she do? What would Peter do if she found out?
It does feel like a slight rip of the "Spider-Man 2" ending where Peter tells his love interest that they can't be together, but this time, the love interest doesn't run back to him.

The other reason why I don't think the film will end with Gwen finding out Peter is Spider-Man is SDCC descriptions. When Captain Stacy accuses Spider-Man of wrongdoing, Gwen attempts to defend Spider-Man. What interest would she have in defending him other than the fact that it's her boyfriend? Quote me on it now, Gwen will find out near the middle of the film, probably after the school fight. Why would Peter ditch Gwen at school when they're under attack? Look for Gwen to question him about that and he tells her the truth while she tends to his wounds from the school battle. Then she'll slap him at the end for a few reasons:

1. Why didn't he protect her father?
2. Why didn't he go to the funeral?

I just remembered something. Isn't some chick (Missy Kalenback?) supposed to flirt with Peter? When and why would that happen? Also, what about Sally Avril?

This is just supposed to be like a main event timeline lol I'm not really taking into account a character that probably amasses like 5 minutes of screentime

Whoever she is, she'll have more screen time than Venom in Spider-Man 3. :o
