I just watched the latest blog, it was awesome but I can't believe they showed some of the action stuff they did like
thorin and gandalf decapitating goblins
hopefully there's some more of that in the movie

Lol At 2 hr and 50 min you can rest assured you have not seen the whole film. A few goblin decapitations is nothing.

Remember, every time a Goblin gets killed during the film you must shout at the screen "Now that's what I'm Tolkien about!"

Ian McKellen bossin' it up as usual.

Yeah it's gonna look amazing on my tv.

The colors are fantastic and the detail is just...wow. even on my little phone gandalf's beard and bilbo's jacket have amazing detail. I was already a fan of the RED camera system but this makes me an even bigger fan.

I love how the musical cue that plays during this clip is the same as the one that plays in Fellowship when Gandalf is telling Frodo about how Bilbo spared Gollum's life. Great attention to detail.

Same here, I've been a fan of the RED camera for a while.

Man, I can't wait to do my LOTR marathon right before the Hobbit comes out. Maybe there's more musical cues in the movie.

Gorgeous. :wow:

What's interesting is that the particular cameras they're using actually made the color super wonky and they had to over compensate by adding more red to the makeup and brighter colors in the sets and then spend more time color correcting. It seems like the camera's forced that level of attention to detail and the film ultimately seems to benefit from it.

And cinematography oscar goes to...The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I'll be surprised if it if doesnt win.

I remember them talking about that in one of the production videos. I was worried they might overcompensate, this being their first time and all, but it would seem they got it just right.

I wouldn't say that the Hobbit is a lock for cinematography, there have been a lot of extremely well shot films this year all in different styles and formats.

For me Life of Pi is in the running for best cinematography.

True and this being a fantasy film in a trilogy the academy will snuff it and part 2 then due to guilt they will drown the final film in awards.

If the award doesnt go to The Hobbit Id be happy with either Skyfall or Life of Pi winning. Both films are equally deserving.

Anyone else think cotton candy when they saw the white council shots?
