I like Peter Jackson's writing; it's kinda...dare I say it...cute. I have no shame in saying that. I think it's just the Kiwi charm..

I mean, I think b/c we're so used to BBC's video look that I think Jackson is quite aware of it and know that film has a certain look. I don't think it'll look like a cheap camcorder; I think it'll maintain the 24 fps look (if that makes sense), but without the blurring.

I'm fine with it. People who are against digital are pretty much traditionalists. I remember PTA years ago talking about digital and projecting digitally being a no no. This is pretty much the future. I love film, but we got to move forward you know?

Plus this is Jackson. I trust him with this.

Peter Jackson filming The Hobbit at 48 fps is the best thing that could possibly happen to 3D.

It will benefit the format, show people the future of it as well. Having to wait until 2014 for Avatar 2 to see an enhanced form of 3D through higher frame rates could have been risky, so having it come earlier can only be a good thing.

:wow:

also :wow: @ 48 Frames per sec, looks like Jackson beat Cameron to the punch.

I doubt he minds, not to mention the both of them are quite friendly.

Whatever helps 3D is good in Cameron's eyes.

oh I know that, Cameron wanted Avatar to be in 48 frames but wasn't able to do it. I knew it was either going to be Jackson, Cameron, or Spielberg to be the first to have a movie at 48 frames per sec.

48 fps will really improve 3D presentations.

Eye Strain and headaches will be drastically, drastically, reduced thanks to the near total removal of strobing, blur, etc. I think even the problem of image dimness (though a big part of that problem is bad theater projections) will improve what with the faster shutter.

I really cant wait to see this. Andrew Lesnie cinematography + 48 fps 3D = OH MY.

You know, looking at that photo, that might very well be the "Riddles in the Dark" scene.

Hm. I wonder why he went for 48, instead of the full 60. Maybe because it was easier for current machines to display? If you're going to make a revolutionary jump, might as well go all the way.

In any case, this is great news for the future of cinema. Hobbit and Avatar 2/3 paving the way for high FPS, ensures a new standard being set.

With this talk of 48 fps, is it possible that Jackson isn't creating that lame 'video/soap opera/BBC/120 HZ' look, but something else totally different where it actually looks beautiful, different but familar?

Hopefully, I'm confident it will. The trailer will tell a lot.

Optimistically, we'll get our first look at Bilbo and the Dwarves in this video.

Realistically, we'll at least see Bilbo or Gandalf.

Oh, and I need more McKellen updates in my life :csad:.

they are a lot of times saying that it needs to be projected with higher frames. so until we dont see the the footage with an updated projector we will not know.

so i guess internet trailer will not count to see if the technology works.

So the film will look more clearer and defined and we will get less headache watching the film in 3D? I'm all for it!

What's this video that people are talking about?,hoping for a look at Bilbo.....is there a teaser or first look clip already coming soon or what??

It's going to be a video from the set. Who knows what we'll see.

Wait a minute... wasn't Avatar shot at 48 fps?
