what's wrong with Persbrant besides his illegal woes?

Well for one, Mikael "I can't act for **** to save my life" Persbrant is , in my opinion of course, a bad actor. After seeing him in a dozen crappy Beck movies, I'm pretty certain of that statement. How I wish that he played a background character instead of Beorn. That way I can avoid hearing him speak. But I guess that was too much to ask for.

But like I said, just because he is in the films doesn't mean that I won't watch it.

Well with WB's announcing an official release date for The Hobbit on December 14th 2012, then WB's should prepare to set a release date for Man Of Steel on Wednesday December 26th or Friday December 28th.

That's a good two weekends apart for the Holidays, so they won't be competing head to head against each other. Man Of Steel is ahead of schedule compared to the troubled Trek sequel, which isn't even in pre-production yet.

If WB's assigns Man Of Steel a Dec 26th or 28th release date, then Trek may wind up getting squeezed in between Hobbit and Man Of Steel on Friday Decembr 21st?

Bad spot for Trek if that winds up happening and a good spots for both The Hobbit and Superman Man Of Steel.

Is it really wise for WB to release two of its own tentpole films a mere two weeks apart?

I say release Man of Steel in November.

I don't think it would be a bad thing. Both films are WB's released tentpole films. WB's would basically corner the market for films released during the XMas and New Years Holidays of 2012.....potentially of course.

Hobbit will probably be at the top for two weekends in a row and then Man Of Steel will probably be at be at the top for the XMas and New Years weekend, while most audiences will continue to see both films well passed there release dates since they are big highly anticipated event blockbuster films.

Whatever film(s) gets squeezed in between the Dec 14th and Dec 28th release dates on Dec 21st is the film I feel sorry for. I would assume Man Of Steel or the Trek sequel will try and aim for that Dec 26th or Dec 28th release dates. Whichever one doesn't get it, will probably be moved up to Thanksgiving or pushed back to Summer 2013.

or maybe Hobbit should move to november hehhe ;)

I seriously doubt they'd release Man of Steel AFTER Christmas. No recent blockbuster has ever been released afterwards. They'll either set it early December or Thanksgiving. Same for the Trek sequel.

If Trek gets squeezed in, December is going to be one hell of a month that year. The most jam packed I've seen in a LONG time.

interesting that in the new news they still say december. could it be that they accepted that they will realese a rushed LOTR movie for 2012?

Wow, how tedious. Are you going to be doing this for the next year and a half?

I think I remember reading that Persbrandt would be needed in NZ at the end of May. So who knows? Maybe they'll be shooting Beorn here soon.

Sorry, Sgt.Pepper :csad:.

Right...because December 2012...when the films started production about 2 months ago...is rushed...

There is much more time being invested in these films than the LOTR trilogy and that trilogy is one of the most memorable ones in cinematic history.

Pfsh..."rushed"

I think you guys really underestimate the time, money, and effort sunk into a massive "two-films-at-once" deal, especially when it's shot and processed in 3D. Peter Jackson's notorious for getting multiple takes at different angles, and regardless whether he's shooting on Red Epic or on 35mm: that takes a lot of time for camera setups and messed up takes. Plus flying the actors and crew out for location shoots, et al..

On paper, The Hobbit production mirrors that of the final two HP films. Which seems fine and dandy since the second Hobbit film has an extra year for post-production/pickups/reshoots instead of eight months. But what's really telling is how Peter Jackson started shooting the LOTR trilogy in 1999 and we didn't even see the first film until late 2001.

I don't like being a negative nancy, but it's just not adding up. Either Peter Jackson wisened up and started editing scenes during shooting, and sending completed ones for WETA to start their work. If he's doing that, then I'm pretty sure both films will make their December 2012 and 2013 dates.

That is what they're doing. Straight from PJ's mouth:

Peter Jackson said:
As we near the end of our first shooting block (we have a break in less than three weeks to get some editing and visual effects work done, plus prepare for very big scenes coming up), we are looking at characters featuring in sequences that take place a little later in the story.

True, but I was expecting Jackson to do this when filming started, and not just use a break to start early post-production work.

I mean, Spielberg had a tight filming schedule when he shot Munich (most of it was shot during August and September, and it came out Christmas Day that year). He edited most of the scenes on set with Michael Kahn, and finished the final cut three weeks after filming ended.

Something alone those lines.

Why would they not release MOS the day after XMas? It's all about the two week vacation period families, teenagers, college students and kids have between the week of XMas all the way through the following weekend past New Years the weekend of the Jan 4th. They can release it on XMas or the day after....it doesn't matter. It's about the week of XMas and the week after.

^^ This is true. That's one of the reasons I don't expect Man Of Steel to be pushed up to mid January or anything like that.

WHY would any studio release a movie the day after Christmas? It'll be Christmas Day or a few days before, but NOT after.

Seriously, what is with you guys?

Name one recent blockbuster that has been released AFTER Christmas?

I'm looking at boxoffice mojo and I do see that quality films come out days after Christmas not really blockbusters. Only film that is considered a blockbuster that came right after Christmas is Black Hawk Down.

Well it's a given that January is a dumping season for bad movies, UNLESS it's a quality competing for the Oscars Nom and has a limited release in Dec then a wider release in Jan.

But the talk is about releasing it a day or a week after Christmas. The problem is that between Christmas and new Years, it's just a chaotic time for most people. Either they're on vacation or preppig up for the new year.

Take this for what it's worth:

Deadline said:
The first of the Peter Jackson-directed installments will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Warners will release the film December 14, 2012. The second installment, The Hobbit: There And Back Again, will be released a year later, on December 13, 2013. The films revolve around the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), and his efforts to thwart the fearsome dragon Smaug. I'd heard way back when that Jackson was eyeing Bill Nighy to provide the voice of the dragon, but Jackson hasn't yet announced who he got and I'm told the whole thing is being kept under lock down. Jackson has brought back from The Lord of the Rings such cast members as Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, Christopher Lee and Hugo Weaving.

After hearing his voice as Rattlesnake Jake in Rango I really hope Bill Nighy plays the dragon.

Nighy was linked to the role before if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, I hope they reveal the voice of Smaug soon.

deadline has been mostly accurate about the rumored casting from the getgo (Freeman, Bloom, Fry) I hope we will hear about Michael Fassbender soon IF it works out.
