Actually it probably should be two different guys, one to be the doctor and the other for when he changes into Thor. Also just how good of an actor do you have to be to play Thor? All you really need is a guy who's tall and really muscular to be convincing in the battle scenes, fantastic speeches won't be necessary.

Are you ****ing serious? Thor isnt the Hulk, he wont just fight and grunt

Fantastic speeches are necessary. Thor's speech patterns are all Shakespearean English and full of bombast. A lunkhead won't do.

Not a big Thor fan, are you?

Well... to old now (and back then)... and balding pretty bad back then (so now, forget it)... But the verbal style is the way to go for Thor.

I hold that something with the texture of Beowulf is the the best depiction for Thor (perhaps a bit upscaled and more "glorius" for Asgard... ala the look it had in the UA sequences).

So do you think they are even going to make a Thor movie at this point?

Well that whole no name actor thing didn't work to well for Superman Returns so I don't think Marvel will want to do that.

So who are you suggesting? I don't want Fabio out there or Triple X out there with a f****** hammer! I would rather it be somebody that the audience knows and can act. I mean imagine if the Iron Man would have had a no name actor...I personally don't believe it would have done as well at all. Same goes with the Incredible Hulk.

Look, I am not being confrontational. I would just like to hear what some people are saying they want for Thor. I would respect Brad Pitt playing the role. I wouldn't mind the actor from Dexter either...

Brandon Routh was the least of that movie's problems, and from what I've seen many fans who disliked the movie still loved Routh.

Sorry, but I've gotta see somebody's body of work before I say they are a good call to cast. I know Marvel is looking big for CA and Thor, and why wouldn't you...casting some hulking lug for the role would be suicide...get somebody with a serious portfolio of work to evaluate their ability to carryover the performance. Just because Fox lucked out and found Jackman for Wolverine, doesn't mean yo go casting unknows to carry a $150+ movie...that's suicide in my book.

Thor and cage cannot be played by some 5'11 actor. I Don't mind an unknown actor. Please no Brad pitt or tom cruise, not because there are bad actors they just dont have the size. Christopher Reeve and Routh are unknown and did a great job so far. I am sure that nobody will disagree that tom cruise or brad pitt cannot be superman rght?

Yes, Christopher Reeve was a bit of an unknow when he was cast in the role, but The guy came with some serious credentials for delviery a solid performance. He was classically trained, and while it didn't prove your ability to perform, it certianly didn't hurt.

As For Routh...no comment on that one. I can assure you that Marvel will probably not choose the unknown route.

Who is the best choice to play Thor? I really don't know any good actors who can portray Thor.

You mean these?

Tobey Maguire, eat your heart out

It all comes down to Karl Urban for me.

Not that hes the only choice just that he is very experienced with "sword and sandal" characters. He can get close enough in looks where movie magic and suspension of disbelief can take over. He also has a seriously deep voice which could certainly be the voice of a warrior god.

He's definitely in my top 5

ROFLOL...why? Sorry but urban hasn't done anything to convince me he can carry a huge franchise like this.

So far I admit its a problem...I'm thinking maybe Tom welling? He is 6'3 well not tall enough but let him have some platform shoes :woot:. If he can't be superman then maybe he should send his CV for Thor? He need to beef up a bit with yellow hair a beard and voila!

I like Thor done by Euro actors. They seem a heck more manly and Thor-like than Jake Gylenhaal and Tom Welling.
