Nice ensemble cast - not to sure about Marsden as Balder though.

Thanks. Marsden has come a long way from his cheesy performance in Anaconda 2. He was terrific from the Rambo movie and I figured he'd fit the Balder role.

It's a little light on star power but I figure that most of them have either worked with Branagh before or one another before so its sort of the cast we might be expecting. I would have also liked to find a place in that cast for McKidd or Ray Winstone too but somehow I don't see their overly heavy accents working and not turn the movie into a mess like the movie Alexander was with every character having a different accent.

Thor - Alexander Skarsgard

OMG. Please tell me you are joking. He'd be a stretch for Spiderman. He is skinny skinny.

You need a real manly man to be Thor. My gosh.

Obviously you missed him on Generation Kill. He's not a WWE steroid freak but he's no pushover. He's athletic more along the lines of one of those tall NFL CBs or pro basketball players we're seeing nowadays.

Any actor getting the part will need to add some weight. Did you know that Bale added a whole 100lbs between The Machinist and the filming of Batman Begins? Getting one of the actors mentioned here to put on about 20lbs doesn't seem too tall an order.

Loki is the son of a Giant, and he has always been a tall but skinny mastermind.

I don't see a big difference between 6'4" and 6'6" when inches can be fixed by a pair of boots and through the non-comics audiences eyes it doesn't matter much. Between Loki and Thor the body composition matters more than height, as in drawing they're height is not much of a difference but their weights/muscles do. And no, Loki can't be short. He has the Frost Giant Blood. For major height difference, there's Superman and Lex but Thor and Loki are about the same height.

Realistically, we're not going to get an actor with the sheer muscle mass of the comicbook Thor so the difference in size will have to be represented in another way - personally, I dont want Thor and Loki to both be comparible in height and build.

And the whole 'son of a giant thing' is a non-issue with me; Loki's own father was ashamed of him because of his lack of stature so lacking a few inches shouldnt matter a whole lot.:cwink:

Me too.
I see Kevin McKidd more as Fandral than Thor.
And Abraham Benrubi as Volstagg and Danny Trejo as Hogun.

Solid choices - I like McKidd too so it would be nice for him to have some involvement with the project; just not as Thor.

Trejo is awesome but after just recently seeing 'No County for Old Men' and 'American Gangster' - I'm leaning towards Josh Brolin for Hogun.

Josh Brolin is a very good actor, but maybe now a bit too big for a small role as Hogun will probably be.

Hey, you never know.

There have been cases of high profile actors taking smaller parts in movies just because they wanted to work with a prestigious director etc.

If Branagh does indeed sign.............................

Maybe Branagh could talk Philly Phanboy's Loki suggestion Joseph Fiennes into the movie. He doesn't really seem to go for big-budget films, but I don't think it's fair that his big brother has to continue the proud tradition of talented English actors playing badass movie villains all by himself.

Edit. I'd also like to add James Nesbitt to the list of Loki suggestions:

That's a great point! And also they might join in just to have their name in such a huge comic book movie. And with a small part you can be in the middle of the action and not do hardly any work!!! LOL!

I have enjoyed reading some the discussion on Loki. Very cool.

He is already jarvis :csad: but yea he would be damn good for loki.

Man, I'd totally forgot about Bettany being Jarvis.

I doubt it would stop his potential involvment though. His contribution as Jarvis is only his voice; and even then it's not his natural accent.

Only so much people know Bettany lends his voice for Jarvis. Even Bettany initially doesn't know if Marvel/Favreau used his voice for IM.

Why Bettany is good for Loki? He was once a fan favorite for the Joker. But with his tall body he'd be better acting as a tall villain - Loki, another mad genius and much dangerous fellow.

As I was saying before, his chemistry with Nikolaj can be used again in Thor.

Jason Isaac can be a great Namor if a movie is being made soon, he looks just like him. :(

Alexander Skarsgård for Thor.

If that doesn't work, he can be Captain America.

Nikolaj has garnered my attention... Not sure about Bettany. He is great, but I am having trouble seeing him as an ominous enough figure.

Issacs is one of my favorite villianous actors... But I have trouble seeing him as Loki. He ould pull off the Red Skull really well.

I feel sorry for Isaacs always getting the villain roles. That's why I think he deserves a more (anti) heroic role and what fine role it's to give him Namor.

Chief, I'd pay money to see an Isaacs Namor.

Definately.

Whether many other people would; that's a different matter,

I've finally watched some footage of Generation Kill and it's cemented it for me: Skasrgaard just has to play Thor;

So much so that I'm adding it to me sig.

another candidate for Thor could be Eric Christian Olsen (The Last Kiss)

Lloyd Christmas for Thor?

God, Look at those nostrils.................

No thanks.
