But he wasn't raised specifically for that. In terms of the narrative, sure, but within the universe he was just a victim of bad parenting from Odin, mixed with plenty of his own pre-existing issues. I didn't really see a lot of particularly bad treatment from others until young adulthood, going by Son of Asgard, Tales of Asgard, and the Loki mini-series, which are probably the best sources for Marvel's version of Loki's youth. It just seems like you may be victimizing him more in your head than he really was.

Well we all fill in the blanks of the character's in our own heads in our own ways. So yeah I'm sure everyone has their own take. Way I picture loki his real father beat and hated him then odin took him in and put him through intense emotional abuse to make him into the bad guy to keep his own son grounded. So you go from your own people hating you for being different to another group hating you for being different and you build up a lot of resentment. Doesn't help that you're probably the smartest person around. So you figure, **** these people, they won't love me they won't even like me, then I'll make them serve me. I'll make them regret every blow, word or cruel glance. Thor 12 was a damn good issue showing what an outsider loki was. Though I'd say I'm probably right the asgardians we're big fans of loki since he was the son of their sworn enemy and had none of the traits they admired, that's just true of most people anywhere.

My interpretation of Loki makes him not quite so arch and overtly evil, I think in part because of that Spider-Man issue where Loki showed up and was like, "I'm not evil, I'm complicated." He had a lot of bad stuff happen to him in his childhood and it screwed his mind up, so he's spent his entire life searching for a combination of revenge and the ability to prove that he's worth the things that he felt he missed in childhood. That's why he never kills Thor or Odin on his own, even though he hates them most; he really wants their approval deep down in his core. He's a tragic hero in his own mind.

I think of him as only hateful to those he percieves as having wronged him. I'd also say people like spider-man or deadpool he'd almost feel as kindred spirits (especially pete as he was the weakling smart guy growing up).

Completely agree about the approval thing. He wants to show up the asgardians more to prove to them how wrong they were about his worth and abilities, to get that love he never had.

One of the things I liked about the interview the most is the way he talks about how loki may not know what to do if he gets his wish. He strikes me as the guy that loves to plot and scheme and turn the screws but when that's over and if he wins, he'd be bored out of his mind. And I think part of him realizes that, ruling would suck for him once he got through the revenge part.

Yeah, we saw that with the Loki mini-series. I'd kind of like to see what he'd do if he actually earned people's approval rather than getting revenge, personally. Wouldn't that be awesome? They should have him seize the Odinpower and cast a colossal spell that brainwashed all the Asgardians into loving him.

I'd like to see a what if where thor realized what was going to happen with loki and decided to help him out and protect him from odin. They'd make a hell of a team and I'd like to see what would happen with some of the major events if they were united.

But yeah, that would be cool.

All and all Loki's one messed up dude who we admire....:D

Well some good news,
Emeti at the Thor boards posted that the Tales of Asgard covers WILL be a buyable poster, the solicit is in the back of Marvel previews, bad news, I have no links or price for it.

I just read Godhunter last night, and Beta Ray Bill in Korbinite gear was Shaztastic. It made my ice cold heart beat once or twice. It even made me temporarily not want to hurt someone sadistically.

You mean let Galactus kill one civilazation, or let Galactus kill forty something civilizations? o.o

^You need a hug and a shot of rum :(

I don't like how BRB punked out at the end though :o
Dude, he didn't "punk out" at the end. He realized that he wasn't the maniac he was turning into and was rewarded for it with the literal rebirth of his race. If that ain't enough to sway a guy off his mad quest for revenge, I don't know what is.

Galactus giving him a ****e was nice and all, but somebody has to teach that gluttonous oaf a lesson!!!!1!!!11

God, can I be a superpowered person in the MU for like 3 seconds. That's all I need to fix everything

BRB decided to take the heroic route, and put aside his thirst for vengeance for a good greater than his own. :(

What you have to understand about Spoons is that, despite the fact that he reads a ton of superhero comics, he doesn't actually understand or appreciate the concept of heroism.

Sure. You get the power to make people dizzy by sneezing. Go.

Yeah, honor and all that crap. I guess he does need to be able to pick up Stormbreaker after all.

I really don't understand it and certainly don't appreciate it :(

Crap, I need prep-time!

I know Spoons. His gf will someday be mine. :P j/k

If you take her, I guarantee my revenge won't be halted if you make me a ****e out of thin air like Galactus did. You gotta follow through lol.

Galactus isn't a villain though, he's a necessary force of nature within the Marvel Universe.

Despite what he does, Galactus has to live and continue eating planets.

If Spoons was a Superhero, he'd totally end up a Robbie Baldwin. Oh yeah, I went there.

You make it sound like I would leave you the chance. If anything, I'm extremely thorough. :P

Spoons is gonna come at several people and take them out to dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Pain, sir.

You reminded me of all those Batman with prep time vs. threads. :(

I don't think new planets are being born and populated as quickly as he eats them. So if he continues to feast while Annihilation waves and Faults keep occurring, we're gonna be in trouble.

Ooooooooooooh, sssssssssssssssnap!

I'm not a crazy masochist haha. I just like when plans are followed though with the most villain casualties possible.
