Thor will never be the "undisputed" most powerful character in the Marvel universe. There are far too many characters who are far too powerful for that to happen at this point. It'll be enough for me if he can just be restored to one of the top-tier powerhouses instead of jobbing to all of the big guns like the Hulk and the Juggernaut every single time.

i believe he already is....LIFTING ASGARD. Strength-wise, i dont think he is questioned....its his durability that is lower than Hulk and Juggs.

If you think strength and durability alone would make would make thor[or for that matter anyone] the "Most powerful hero" your greatly mistaken.

Seems to work all right for the Hulk. But it's pretty obvious that Thor has other powers. It's just his strength and durability where writers have diluted him over the years. He's forgotten some of Mjolnir's powers as well, but frankly most of those powers were a little cheap or ridiculous anyway, so I don't miss them. Blocking/absorbing energy, firing lightning and other energy blasts, allowing Thor to fly, returning to his hand when thrown, and being a badass weapon for bludgeoning people are all the powers Mjolnir really needs.

I would just like for Thor to remember he has a God Blast and actually take somebody out with it. Preferably Rulk.

no i dont just count strength...but like he said, thats where thor was being written down...but he seems to have gotten that back.

The less I see of the god blast, the better. It's not something to throw around lightly. Save it for the next time Thor fights Galactus or Ego or someone like that.

Hmm, good question. I've mostly been thinking about heroes Thor could have cool fights with.

I don't know if there are any particularly new villains I'd really love to see him pitted against. I guess the revamped Ares would be good; every time Thor's fought him in the past, he's been a total pushover, but he seems to have gotten more powerful/competent lately. I'd personally love to see Thor mop the floor with the entire Wrecking Crew again. There's always the Juggernaut, too. A victory over Jugs would go a long way toward restoring Thor's grandeur in my eyes. Galactus' heralds are always fun. Although Beta Ray Bill already kicked Stardust's ass, so it'd be a little redundant for Thor to do the same, and Thor's already kicked the Silver Surfer's ass on a few occasions. Oh, and of course there's Ragnarok, a.k.a. Thor's clone from Civil War. They've been hinting at a fight between Ragnarok and Thor for way too long already; I want to see it actually happen. Also, Skaar would be good, although I bet Pak would have Skaar kick Thor's ass because he seems to be a colossal Hulk fanboy. I'd personally love to see Thor fight Korg too, since Korg is one of the Stone Men from Thor's very first story back in Journey into Mystery.

Are the JSM vol.1 and 2 already on sale? January releases vol.3 of JSM's run but since i'l be in New York next week i'd thought i'd check out and buy Vol 1 and 2 if there out... Marvel.com is just impossible to use tbh. @_@

A villians I'd like to see Thor toss around is Brainiac ,Loki, Doom, Osborne again,Sentry,Darkseid,Emperor from Star Wars,the whole cast from Heroes, Apocalpyse, Doormu, and Surtur

I think that Marvel has said that the Aesir and the Vanir have merged into one race now. Not certain though.

Thanks for the info I think I'd still like to see a war between them played out.

Just read Galactus' origin in Thor's comic. Interesting that it wound up in Thor's comic rather than the FF's. It's an earlier origin than the one we all know, though. The current origin apparently comes from the '80s.

Yeah that Kirby/Bryne origin is the only one I know of too.

On another subject, I just found out that the inspiration for many of Frazetta's art Eleanor Frazetta, passed away in July

In Thor #169's version of Galactus' origin, Galactus was created when Galan was mutated by the power of an enormous star rather than merging with the sentience of the previous universe. I prefer the later origin, personally, although it's neat to know the original version now.

That's sad about Eleanor Frazetta.

Oh, Vartha, did I tell you that I'm trying to read every issue of Thor now? I'm on #202.

Fun fact: Volstagg started off in the comics as a boastful coward who bumbled his way to victory when he wasn't outright hiding until right around the time I'm reading right now. In #198, Thor gives Volstagg an important mission that basically wins a battle against Mangog, which makes Volstagg a bit more confident. And now in #202, he actively leaps into battle to save a child from being killed by Ego-Prime's mutated creatures.
