Official TW4S promotion & support thread

The same way they are laughing their tushies off thinking you want TW as Superman. To each his own.

well BR may have been good as superman in SR but FACT he will be connected with SR which was let's face it BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD movie and mostly hated by comic fans non comc fans and movie TANKED and if BR is in next superman movie MAJORITY of people still think it is sequel of SR

and another FACT TW has more looks and personality than BR to pull of the role

and SV as a show did much better job than SR with its megabudget that's why it's on its 8th seseaon which is going strong and better than before and SR has already been forgotten and buried deep under along with Batman and Robin

and why those antiTW people are doing in this TOPIC which clearly about TWfor superman

don't u have anything else better to do

Hey. I'm not starting any debate on SR, or anything regarding that movie. I'm just saying that there are two sides to every coin. There is no right or wrong opinion here. To each his own.

Anti-TW... that's a bit harsh, isn't it? I hardly think it has reached a point where you can dish out the "don't u have anything else better to do" jargon. In all honesty, it doesn't take anything for the BR-haters, or the BR-lovers to get all defensive these days. One abstract comment, and they take insult. Not everything is an attack on either candidate. But sometimes the rivalry and the petty arguments must take a hit instead of the candidates themselves.

*waits for cmill to "purify" this thread of the haters posts*

And contrary to popular opinion, I'm not a Smallville hater. I've watched every episode ever aired of this show. I've reviewed it in 3 different languages, and include it in my magazine's pick of the week items each week. Its not the show or the leading man that I have reservations against. Its the venom in the rivalry between the movie and the show. That's all. Personally, I wouldn't mind TW in a Superman movie. It would be a good step up for him, and its about time he put on the tights. I'm getting tired of all the primary colors in his Ts and Jackets.

That's pretty cool.... just curious, which languages (besides English) and the name of your magazine. ;)

Anyway...

Heres IMDB's "biography" on Welling thought I'd share, I'm sure the majority of you already know everything there is to know about Welling but heres for those who dont :p
Biography for
Tom Welling

26 April 1977, New York City, New York, USA

Birth Name

Thomas John Patrick Welling

Height

6' 3" (1.91 m)

Mini Biography

Thomas John Patrick Welling was born on the 26th of April 1977 in the city of New York, New York, USA. The 6" 3" tall star comes from a family of six members which comprise of his father, a retired executive for General Motors, his mother, a "home engineer", a younger brother named Mark Welling, who is also an actor, and two other older sisters.

Thomas John Patrick Welling, or Tom Welling as he has always been referred to, is probably best known as Clark Kent from the hit television series, "Smallville" (2001). Welling graduated from Okemos High School in Okemos, Michigan when he was 18 years old. Before that, he spent his freshman year in the Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware. He played a lot of varsity soccer in his high school and Tom received "fair" grades in his exams. But even so, Tom did not want to go to college. Tom actually wanted to be a construction worker and therefore, after graduating, he worked in a construction service site.

Tom eventually moved on to modeling after spending a period of time working in the construction business. While modeling, he met fellow celebrity and model Ashton Kutcher while they were booked for a project together. The two eventually become good friends. Even though both Ashton and Tom were famous models, Tom decided to be an actor. He had this offer from a guy who worked in the agency he was signed with to be an actor. Tom attended a few castings and not too long later, became an actor.

The acting gigs that he received eventually made directors take more notice of him. Tom Welling was asked to play the role of Clark Kent in the hit series, "Smallville" (2001). What many people probably don't know is that Tom actually turned down the role twice. He said that the reason he turned down the role wasn't because the story wasn't good, but it was because he thought the role was bigger than him and he didn't want people to think that he wasn't a good enough actor.

Even so, Tom ended up taking the role because he had the feeling that the show was going to be a great hit and he would be a fool not to take it. Tom even said he felt some sort of connection between him and his character, Clark Kent. Therefore, Tom made himself a household name.

Other than only becoming a face on television, Welling also acts in other movies. The movie with which he is probably most associated is Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), in which he starred with Steve Martin and 'Bonnie Hunt'. Cheaper By The Dozen also had a second installment and he played the same role. Tom has also starred in a B-grade horror flick, The Fog (2005) together with "Lost" (2004)'s star, Maggie Grace. Although that movie didn't really achieve box office success, Tom's acting talents still got noticed by the critics.

Tom may be the guy who gets the girl he wants on television, but Tom apparently does not think too much about his love life. In fact, Tom got married to Jamie White, one of his closest friends. The couple wed on the 5th of July 2002. Tom has also said that the person he respects the most is his wife because she has the greatest heart. According to reports, Tom is currently living with his wife in Los Angeles although he relocates to Vancouver while filming Smallville.

Personal Quotes

"You know one of the things about going from modeling to acting is it's so much more fulfilling. With modeling, you get your picture taken, which is great, good for you, you know? But in acting, you're able to reach in and show a little bit more of yourself."
[on having his own action figure]: "I don't think one is ever prepared for something like that. But, it's fun. I hope it's durable."

:super:

I've no Idea how accurate the reported facts of him are, however I'd assume that they all have some truth to them :super:

SR may have been sub par, but it wasn't a terrible movie.... certainly better than the first 7 seasons of Smallville combined.

One season kicks SR's ass, let alone all 7, heck 8 makes SR look like a chump...if SR were a person that is :p

I'll give you seasons 4, 6 and 7. I disagree compared to any other season.

only season 8 has passed SR(that is one season I suppose), too bad we had to wait more than 7 years to recieve this season. It has literally been the only season of quality. All the other seasons have either been equal to, or worse than SR.

Opinions are just opinions.... for many people SV's best episodes are better than the lamefest of SR, to each its freaking own.

I've enjoyed all the seasons in general, really. However, there are individual episodes that I reeeally dislike in just about every season.

no need for language.

SR wasn't great. I won't argue against that. But it wasn't terrible either. But I gladly would have dealt with 7 SR quality movies, rather than the first 7 seasons of Smallville. They were literally equal. Atleast SR didn't drag me through 7 years of nonsense... rather only 2hours.

season 8 has surpassed most certainly... but that's seriously because they've stopped watering down the narrative, in order to extend the life of the show, to sell commercials, rather than telling a complete and cohesive story.

thank god for season 8

On a side note, a Mod at k-site call Atomic girl deleted my tom welling campaign thread over there, sent me a pm stating that "k-site doesn't allow petition threads". I checked the rules, no such rule exists. typical.

I would be all for Tom Welling as Superman if they left SV history in the past and just started over. But if you turn this into SV the movie then I just can't go for that. I do however think they should let him put the suit on at the end of the series although I can understand why they won't.
