JDS-Mir_SDW_large.jpg

Mir is a dead man.

Yeah, I hate to say it too, cause Mir is my favorite heavyweight, but he indeed has no chance. He's in for a reckoning. He should be fighting Velasquez, and even that fight, I'd pick Velasquez. Mir is the gatekeeper of that division, sadly.

Don't get me wrong, Mir definitely has a chance if the fight goes to the ground but with JDS' takedown defense in tact, Mir is in for an unholy night. Frank has to find a way to take down Junior or this fight will be over before the three minute mark. Dos Santos' boxing is frighteningly good, and his TDD is just as good.

I just don't see a way for Mir to take JDS down. Mir couldn't even take Cro Cop down. I actually wouldn't be surprised if JDS threw Mir down, like he did Carwin.

Everyone has a chance. If that's the case Serra would have never been champ, Cro Cop would've fought Randy for the title instead of Gonzaga, Chuck/Forrest would have happened for the UFC instead of Rashad getting the title shot, and Werdum would have gotten smashed by Fedor.

It would be funny if Mir pulled a Werdum. Fall back to one of JDS' punches to make him think it landed, let him try to wail on you in your guard, then lock up a submission while he's too busy going after the finish to realize he's in a trap.

Mir also was the first person to drop Kongo in the UFC. Kongo had a really strong chin before Mir tagged it. The chances of Mir knocking JDS out are slim, but it's certainly a possibility if JDS gets careless. Anything can happen in MMA. I see why Mir is a heavy underdog, but he has the ability to take the title away from Dos Santos.

Hardy was all kinds of embarrassing. Acting so arrogant after 4 straight loses and mediocre win tonight.

Hell yeah for Hardy! My friends all train at Ludwig's school, so they were all up on him. I told them that Hardy is gonna take this fight! I'm so glad he won. Been a fan since he first entered the UFC. Great knockout.

Man, Barboza's hype train got derailed tonight.

Oh my God that Cain. Silva was leaking a river.

Frank Mir didn't stand a chance. Good performance by JDS.

Breaking news. Former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, was arrested in the locker room just minutes after his brutal assassination of a sasquatch in the octagon. No comments have been made by Velasquez's management at this time.

Ha!

I wonder how long it'll take for Velasquez to get another title shot. He's clearly the next best fighter in the division.

I forgot how quick Cain is, and man did he display it tonight. I blinked and Silva was on his back from a single-leg takedown. I blinked again and Silva was gushing out his entire supply of blood.

Dana White was saying after the PPV that Cain is likely the next one to get a title shot. So it looks like Cain will get a rematch against JDS.

White also said if Cormier comes to the UFC and goes to the heavyweight division, he will give him a title shot. White also suggested Lesnar might be coming back to the UFC, but I guess we'll see.

1 win over a guy who lost his previous fight & he is getting a title shot? People kicked up such a **** storm over Lesnar getting a title shot after 2 fights, those same people that had a problem with that must be headbutting walls or considering throwing themselves off a building.

They should be getting fresher talent title shots, the HW division has alot of guys with decent records, they need to be pitting these guys against each other & getting the contenders weeded out from all the pretenders.

That being said Velasquez did put on a strong performance, but he literally just lost to Dos Santos.. surely unless there was controversy he should be going to the bottom of the pile that would take a couple of wins to get break free.

Cormier could do well in the UFC, I don't know whether he would be right in there in title contention based on what I've seen of him in the past, however he wouldn't be far off it.

If Dana brings him over they should stick him in there with Carwin, Struve or Browne to see were hes at.

I think Lesnar's ship has sailed MMA wise, its unfortunate that he didn't go straight into MMA from collage as if he could come in & literally do what he did on vurtually no experience inside a cage, imagine what he'd have been like if he'd come up through the system.

That being said hes not a permanent WWE fighter, hes one that will show up now & again similar to The Rock I imagine. So if he did want to & felt he had reconsidered he could still compete.. although really if you want to be champion again he'd need to focus on MMA 100%.

Velasquez is the consensus number two Heavyweight on the planet, and he just overwhelmed Antonio Silva from start to finish. I would pair him up with a guy like Carwin, but Shane is still rehabbing post-surgery. Werdum makes alot of sense but Fabricio is already set to fight at UFC 147. And, of course, Overeem has been suspended for a year.

So, who's left for Cain to fight? Gonzaga? Schuab? Nogueira? Mir?

Dude, get over it!!!!

It would be best if they could just move Cormier to the UFC to give him the title shot. Cain is my favorite heavyweight, but I think he needs one more fight. He just fought JDS just 6 months ago. I want to see some different fights first.

The title shot will definitely go to Velasquez. The UFC has put a lot of money into him.

It'd be nice to see Cormier get the title shot and it makes the most sense, since he won the HW tournament, but I just don't see the UFC giving him one right off the bat.

Also, take this as you will, but Velasquez and Cormier have both stated that they will not fight each other. Looks like the HW division just got that much shallower.

cormier still has 1 sf fight left on his contract so he wont come over probably till 2013

Who is Cormier going to fight?! Are there any heavyweights left in Strikeforce?

Overeem and Silva both had fights left on their contracts before being signed to the UFC.

Trust me, we'll see Cormier sign under the UFC banner before 2013.
