Yeah, people don't understand the cycling of roids and other performance enhancing drugs. And when you cycle off of it, that's when it really kicks in and ups your performance.

Just got approved to cover UFC on Fox 4. Since it's in Los Angeles I won't have to travel which is nice for once. Not the most exciting main event but we get Shogun, Vera, Lauzon, Varner, Bader, and Machida all on free TV so thumbs up in my opinion.

Will be interesting to see if Machida can deal with Bader like he did Ortiz and Couture or if he's going to be more cautious.

with that thinking might aswell accuse every fighter for roids lol
Project862006, honestly it's pretty hard to give everyone the benefit of the doubt these days. I'm sure not every fighter is on the gas, but every athlete and competitor who has failed a drug test and said they weren't claimed innocence as well so I mean . . . there you go.

Plus if anyone hasn't seen, Bigger, Stronger, Faster. A documentary about America's love affair with being just that, and idolizing those who are superior athletes, it really does jade you as to how many professional athletes juice or use PEDs.

I mean even A-Rod did steroids and claimed he never used them on TV. So I mean how can you trust them? You want to take them for their word but in the sports word peoples' words are meaningless.

Nice. That's gonna be one hell of an event.

Could you elaborate on this. Idk about other PEDs but how are steroids most effective once you cycle off?

PEDs and steroids are like medicine. You need to be on it for like 6 weeks before you get results. So when a fighter has been cycling, the right way, they build their system up in the off season, or during training camp, then slowly get off it. So when they are in the fight, their system flares up, like its using PEDs when it really isn't, but your body is used to the workout of a fight it pretends or acts like its still on the drugs.

I wish I could explain this better. Like right now, I'm on this immune system cycle. So, I'm taking these pills, and they activite my immune system because it thinks the pill is an incoming cold or sickness, or it builds for a fight that never comes, so that when it does come (a real cold) my immune system will be twice as strong and will fight off the sickness.

Interesting. I guess I don't understand what MMA fighters use steroids for in general. Can't be mass, b/c big muscles often work against you in a fight.

Yeah, that's true. Fighters I know use PEDs for endurance/speed and just overall strength.

Not all steroids do the same thing and not all steroids give you big muscles either.

Some steroids help you heal from injuries quicker. Some just make you look more cut. Joe Rogan has talked about TRT and he believes it is a performance enhancer because it makes you much faster, quicker, stronger etc. Then again, Rogan also thinks marijuana is also a PED because he thinks in a fight it can improve your reaction time and make you think better. He has said he works better in BJJ while high or after smoking weed and other fighters and BJJ guys are the same way. Take it for what it's worth.

As far as size though, I think maybe the extra mass or muscle from roid use could conceivably help you in a fight in terms of being bigger and stronger than your opponent. The bigger you are, the better chance you have of imposing your will and dominating your opponent even though you both come in at the same weight on Friday. I interviewed Rich Franklin and he talked about how he and Forrest were about the same size on weigh-in day but come fight time Forrest had gained all his weight back and he was much bigger and larger than he anticipated and he couldn't get Forrest from on top of him.

Faber & Lombard FTW. I'm honestly more interested in Faber/Barao than I was for Faber/Cruz. Cruz is a bit of a decision king.

lombard just lost via split decision in an extremely boring fight where lombard did'nt do anything

give weidman his title shot

LOL, have Weidman fight the winner of Bisping/Stann if that's the case. Bisping's got a big fight coming up so if he's upset about him than KTFO Stann.

Lombard looked terrible tonight. He's a nutty dude, did he psyche himself out making his UFC debut and being upset with Ariel Helwani and Mark Munoz? Some guys when they get to the UFC just can't perform.

Pretty ****** card. Renan Barao looked pretty good though. I could easily see him whooping Cruz's ass.

true but cruz is faster than both uriah and barao and has some slick footwork and best wrestling in the division

This statement is wrong. When you cycle off your performance slowly degrades. You have to try and keep as much as you can.

Plus some metabolites clear out of your system fairly fast, 2 weeks for some, plus the amount of cardio these guys do has to up that.

I am currently a competitive power lifter. I have used legal prohormones only though, doctor prescribed TRT, and diuretics(when I was a wrestler).

You can try to keep as much muscle and strength as you can, but it is impossible. Your body has an influx of anabolic hormones, its natural response afterwards is to cut all anabolics off(shrunken testicles). You can try all you want with anti estrogens, but your natural level will take a while to get back too.

Also when you train at such a high level you must take steroids, seen people cycle off and tear a bicep dead lifting.

yeah i like uriah but he is pretty predictable with his attacks

The guy really needs to learn how to use his left. Him switching stances constantly just so he could land his right from different angles was real strange. Barao completely clowned him by holding out his left hand, showing that all he needed to do was block or parry Faber’s right to win standing up. Faber needs a left hook or at least find a way to set up his right.

Faber apparently broke his rib in the first, but man it's really frustrating to see Faber in fights like this where he gets completely tooled. It seems if Faber isn't winning he can do nothing to adjust.
