Don't really have anything to say about any of the UFC 149 card, all of the fights were pretty average if I'm being honest.

The one thing I have to say is what on earth was Hector Lombard playing at? Did he have some form of leg or foot injury? He barely took a step forward or back the entier bout just kinda held his ground & waited for Boetsch to come to him. Whereas anytime I've seen him fight previously he has sometimes been patient & held his ground but then turns into a wrecking ball & explosively charges forward with a flurry of fast powerful hands.

He choked big time, I don't even really rate Boetsch as a top MW just yet.. I think he was let off very softly by Lombard who I thought would have wrecked Boetsch. If Bisping had fought him as planned & Boetsch tried to fight Bisping like he did Lombard, Bisping would have tooled him. I don't think Lombard needs to try to make 170 as Dana White possibly suggested, I'd stick him in with Wanderlei, Franklin, Stann or Bisping next & if he does the same again he should drop down.

Bisping is a very underrated fighter, people underrate him because they dislike him. Good technical striking & good grappling skills.

With the exception of the Dan Henderson fight all of his loses have been very close decision loses, from what I can remember of the Rashad fight it was very close & came down to 1 or 2 takedowns in that fight which settled it, the Chael Sonnen fight from what I can remember I actually think I had Bisping winning that fight. The Wanderlei one I believe was the same, I think at the time I had Bisping winning that fight as well although I'd need to rewatch that one.

Personally, if he beats Stann either by a finish or a good unanimous decision I think he should get the title shot. I don't think he will beat Silva, but I think he will give him a better fight than Stann or Weidman would.

I don't think Bisping's striking is on a great level yet. He doesn't know how to move backward, and when he does he puts his hands down.

I'll take Stann by knockout.

Bisping's style fits perfect for Anderson to counter him with a few stylish moves. Bisping gets by with his speed a lot, but he's very predictable. He's fast enough to get out of the way of most guys, but he hasn't really done that against top level fighters yet. Against Anderson? That's Forrest all over again. He'd drop him a few times easily before putting him out. That's an insanely bad matchup for him.

Why does the UFC continue to put Kongo on main cards?!

Kongo is an experienced veteran and he's been with them a long time and bailed out UFC before.

He's had some exciting wars before with like Pat Barry where he scored an amazing comeback knockout. He had 10 Octagon wins, Kongo belongs in the UFC. Usually Kongo fights will tend to have some good action or an exciting finish that wasn't the case here.

I'd have to agree, Bisping is a very solid fighter, but pitting him against Silva would be a terrible match up for Bisping. Anderson in round 2 by KO, or TKo, at most.

I'd have to say this is true for most MMA/UFC fighters. Not that there aren't some very solid strikers, maybe even great. But that's just the thing, they are strikers, not boxers.

I don't think anyone's all around striking/boxing skill level, is anywhere near the level of the best boxers in the world in the UFC. I've seen some very solid, even good or great strikers in the UFC, but for the most part, their defense is absolutely terrible.

Imho that is.

Not that I have anything against Vitor, but I do hope that Belcher wins so that Vitor isn't rushed to another title shot. It's funny how he was on the end of one of the greatest knock outs of all time in the first round, but he keeps talking about how he would have won if it wasn't for that kick. I don't want to see anymore Anderson rematches at this point. I want some new fights at this point before he retires.

Erick Silva vs Jon Fitch Set For UFC 153
Jul 30, 2012 - Jon Fitch will draw one of the UFC's top young guns in his next outing.

The longtime welterweight contender is set to square off with Brazilian Erick Silva at UFC 153, MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani has learned. Sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed the two had verbally agreed to the pairing.

Fitch was supposed to face Aaron Simpson in July, only to be forced out after suffering a knee injury. The setback apparently won't keep him on the shelf long. Upon returning, Fitch will be attempting to win for the first time in three fights. At UFC 127, he fought to a draw with B.J. Penn, and in his follow-up match at UFC 141, he was knocked out by Johny Hendricks, marking the first time he had been finished since 2002.

Fitch is 23-4-1 with 1 no contest.

Silva has looked spectacular in all three of his octagon outings. He debuted with a knockout of Luis Ramos at UFC 134, then appeared to earn a second straight first-round KO at UFC 142, only to be controversially disqualified for strikes to the back of the head. Silva then followed that up with a first-round submission win over Charlie Brenneman at June's UFC on FX 3.

Silva is 14-2 with 1 no contest.

Fitch will be tasked with facing Silva on his home soil, as the bout emanates from Rio on October 13.

I like that matchup. It'll really show where Silva is in the welterweights. It's a really good test for him. If he passes with flying colors then it'll mean big things for him. Fitch has a lot of cardio and implements his gameplan well. This is as good a test as any to see how good his ground game and/or defensive wrestling is.

So whoever wins most impressively Saturday gets the light-heavyweight title shot, says Dana.

I'm watching UFC Insider, and apparently Ben Henderson is a huge comic fan. They're showing him picking up his pull list at a local shop and talking about what he likes. He also compared some of the champs to comic characters. He said Cruz was like Quicksilver, Anderson to Spider-man, Jon Jones to Mr. Fantastic, and JDS to Colossus. He then compared himself to Shatterstar. lol

i guess dana forgot Alexander Gustafsson is 6-1 in the UFC and on a 5 fight win streak lol imo he is a much more deserving #1 contender maybe 1 more fight is needed

and unlike the 4 guys fighting on FOX Alexander Gustafsson has'nt got crushed by jones lol

I'm hoping that Dana was secretly talking about every light-heavyweight on the card because I'd rather see Phil Davis get a title shot than Machida or Shogun. Same with Vera and Bader. Jones already owned them before, and there's no good reason to give Shogun a title shot for beating Brandon "Bongo-in-Person" Vera. I know Phil just lost to Rashad, but he hasn't fought Jones yet, and I think that would be better than rematches.

"Bongo-in-person." :woot: :hehe:

I don't care that Thiago was on horse steroids. Just having done that forever absolves him.

But he did get crushed by someone who I believe inferior. Phil Davis.

Charmander- Charmeleon- Charizard

Phil Davis- Rashad Evans- Jon Jones

I think that's how they evolve or something like that. Gustafson should have to fight Lyoto Machida. I'd watch that.
