There are no other heavyweights in Strikeforce. ZUFFA will have to hire someone new from outside ZUFFA or send someone over maybe. I can't see any UFC fighters that want to go to Strikeforce even if it means fighting a top five guy like Cormier.

Cain Velasquez is the consensus #1 contender now. Sorry but that's the way it is. He was slated to fight Frank Mir and that was set to be a title eliminator fight. There is no other clear cut consensus contender that could dispute Cain's claim at the moment. Overeem is out and suspended and not coming back for a while. UFC needs to move on until then. I doubt Lesnar would get the nod. He got trounced by Cain and Overeem his last two fights. If Lesnar came in for 1 more fight I believe it would be the rubber match with Mir and I think that's the only fight Lesnar would agree to right now. And Mir has wanted that rematch for three years.

Stefan Struve is getting there but he's not ready. Werdum if he wins will be elevated but still IMHO not yet a contender. So Cain is the next best choice. He's the former champion and arguably still number 2 or 3 heavyweight fighter in the world. He's 10-1 overall, 8-1 in the UFC. Why shouldn't he get a title shot? Who else could get a shot at JDS right now?

I like that the UFC is pushing the heavyweight division but I really dont know to much about it lol I imagine theres talent all over the world though.

Oh and on Yahoo news it says Miller is gone due to some backstage antics but after 2 loses he was bound get canned either way.

I never cared for Mayhem. In all three of his UFC fights, he has looked awful. I don't know what people see in him. I have always found him annoying.

Mayhem's a goofy dude and hardcore fans eat that up. He is a good self-promoter, but when it came to fighting at the top level he couldn't hack it.

really glad to see varner back on track he always been very underrated it was just the mental game that held him back and made him inconsistent

It was a good performance and I think everyone's jaws dropped when he busted up Barboza. Wouldn't mind maybe seeing him have the rubber match with Cerrone at some point to complete the trilogy.

I loved seeing Varner win I wonder how much tim he had to get ready for the fight being a replacment and I assume he was just being looked at has a steping stone for Barboza.

Mayham I liked him exactly because of his goofy attitude lol but sucks he cant get any wins in the ufc.

Varner was announced as Evan Dunham's replacement around May 1st-ish. So he probably had about 4-5 weeks to prepare.

I'm not a fan of him, but it's nice to see heavy underdogs get the upset win. It makes things very interesting. The Barboza hype was getting out of hand anyway. I like watching the guy fight, but I think people bought into the Brazilian mystique too much. He should be fine in the long run, but it's good for Varner to get a big redemption win. Too bad he didn't do this:

Well E-Man, if it makes you feel any better, Varner was put through quite the meat grinder of life as of late. He went on a big slump and losing streak in the WEC after he lost the title. He didn't get absorbed into the UFC after the WEC folded. He nearly retired. So I mean . . . I think karma got him after he did things like that. Hopefully he's turned over a new leaf.

Dude, get over it!!!!

I was being facetious, the comment about the people that had a problem with Lesnar getting a title shot when he only had 1 win wanting to headbutt a wall has flew straight over your head hasn't it.. :D

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Brock's meeting with Dana White did not go well. They also say that if Brock's appearance is mentioned on WWE tonight that it's part of his storyline against the WWE.

I think sooner or later, Lesnar will come crawling back since he's married to Sable and lives a very expensive lifestyle.

^does he i thought he had no tv and lived in a cabin in the woods all secluded from anyone lol

No, it was just a stupid comparison to make that's all. Brock had two fights, two wins. Cain had how many fights? How many wins? Waaaay more than Brock. Cain getting a title shot after a loss still makes more sense than Brock getting one title shot after two professional fights.

He's married to Sable and he's got a bunch of kids. He owns like a private plane. I think he also owns a farm and like property in Canada. That costs money. I mean yeah he's made a lot of money, but I mean to keep Sable around he might need to keep making more money.

The number of fights is irrelevant, it's simply going on the fact that now they know Velasquez is a big draw for them exactly the same as Lesnar was.

When you get KO'd in 1 minute in your first title defense, you shouldn't be getting a title shot after 1 win over a guy not even in title contention & 1 that had lost his previous fight as well. There are other HW's who have had more fights & more wins than Cain has in the HW division that are on a 1 fight winning streak or more.. why aren't they more deserving of a title shot than Velasquez?

As for Lesnar, he got a title shot simply because he was already an established star & when he came in & gave Mir a hell of a beating before Mir pulled of that excellent kneebar, then gave a very experienced Herring a similar beating in his next bout it was a no brainer considering there were no other credible challengers for Couture at the time due to the fact that Lesnar, Carwin, Dos Santos & Velasquez among others all joined the UFC ranks around the same time. I believe people like Mir/Kongo/Nog were all tied up into other bouts as well around that time although don't quote me on that.

I forgot that Ellenberger and Kampmann are fighting on the TUF Finale tomorrow night. That's a fight that could be the co-main of a ppv. It's a really good matchup since both guys have good records in a solid division. I like Kampmann. He's possibly the most underrated fighter in MMA right now, but Ellenberger is my boy. After GSP he's my favorite welterweight to watch. I'll be rooting for him tomorrow night, but if Kampmann wins I won't be mad at all.

I wish I knew more about the two guys fighting for the TUF contract, but I stopped watching after about 6 episodes because I kept forgetting to record it. I know about Chiesa's father passing. I saw his story, and it's easy to root for him.

I like that fight a lot and I'm glad it's getting five rounds. I think I picked Ellenberger but I could easily see either guy winning. Hopefully five rounds means we will get a finish or a decisive winner.

Going to be a great fight tomorrow night. I haven't watched TUF this year, so I don't know how that's going to turn out, but that Ellenberger/Kampmann fight is going to be awesome.

I'm taking Ellenberger by decision. He will dictate where this fight is fought, and I just see him bullying Kampmann around the octagon. Mixing up his attack with power strikes and take downs.

If GSP isn't going to be back by the end of this year, Condit really needs to defend that title against the winner of this fight.

Also guys, I'm again live in Las Vegas for the finale card tomorrow so you can check out my PBP and news recaps at 411mania.com/mma tomorrow night.

Fingers crossed I get approved for UFC 148 for Sonnen/Silva II.
