HAHA! What does that mean?!

Wow. Machida turned down the title shot.... What is going on?!

And guess who's in?

Vitor Belfort

I've defended Jon on here a few times, this is the first time where any criticism is warranted. Not only for him but Jackson as well. I suppose you can work in camp for one specific gameplan, and another fighter would take a completely different type of preparation, but still. I just don't understand the reasoning, because honestly, I think Bones would beat the skin straight off Chael. With no problem.

This has been one giant clusterf**k. How the hell did Belfort weasel his way into a title shot? It's more bewildering than Sonnen nearly receiving the shot after coming off a loss.

Shogun must be uber-pissed with Dana right now.

I'll give Chael props here and say that Jon fears Sonnen grinding out a decision. He was able to close the gap on Silva and take him down shockingly quick. Perhaps Jones felt insecure about the match-up.

I don't doubt Jon has respect for him, I think that has more to do with him not taking the fight then he'll ever acknowledge. But I also saw how easily Chael was broken down in that rematch against Silva.

Saw this on twitter. Gave me a laugh.

A gangster, a dragon, a phenom and a spider walk into a bar....

Oh yeah, once he couldn't take Silva down, he folded. That said, his gameplan was weak. He didn't pressure Silva enough in the second round, and it ultimately cost him.

Shogun only has himself to blame. He didn't act like he wanted it more.

I doubt Shogun would've accepted it either.

DoomsdayApex, the Tweet I posted was from 2010. It just shows that NEVER for Jon Jones is equivalent to 2 years ;) .

FYI DoomsdayApex, I got news for you, THEY OFFERED SHOGUN THE FIGHT FOR UFC 152!

Shogun turned it down! Shogun didn't want it either!

Sonnen would have been an absolute waste of time.. I don't blame Shogun, he got beat up pretty good in his last fight I doubt he's fully recovered. Machida didn't even break a sweat against Bader, I think it will be a while before he gets another title shot now.

Well White said he will probably have to fight someone else since he turned the shot down.

vitor belfort is a much better fight than hendo or sonnen

hope he punches jones in the back of the head LOL

I'm pumped about Vitor taking the shot. I don;'t think he is going to win, but I'd much rather see him than a Shogun or Machida rematch. Sonnen obviously knew something was up before the rest of us, or he would've have declared war on Jones via twitter last week. Sonnen talked his way into a title shot after not earning it at all, but I think Jones should've taken it. I can't imagine what Chael will say now if he beats Forrest in December.

still dont get why jones did'nt take the fight he was essentially still gonna take on a grinding wrestler now he would'nt have to worry about an h bomb

and sonnen would of been moving up and who knows if he was even in fight shape

and a much easier opponent than hendo, machida,or belfort

So now it's Vitor? What the hell is going on? Next Randy is going to come out of retirement. I think that Vitor is the easiest opponent here. I don't think that Chael has much for Jones considering that Jones is a better wrestler that could sub him, but Vitor really offers less than that IMO. Sure he's got fast hands, but you don't just blitz Jon Jones. He uses that reach like it's nothing. Plus there's the wrestling aspect. Jones might be the best wrestler in MMA right now. I think he'll rag doll Vitor if he feels threatened on the feet. Now if Chael could get Jones down he'd probably get subbed, but at least Chael is a high level wrestler that might be able to hang with Bones. Not so much with Vitor, but of course anything can happen.

But why is the whole card canceled because of one fight being scrapped? Considering how Dana talked a bunch of **** about how amateur Affliction was due to them scrapping their card and folding because of the Barnett fight going through this doesn't look good. I know how much money is being cost here. I get why Dana is mad, but didn't he always say that one fight doesn't make the card? If he's talking about how badly the fighters need the money why is the card scrapped? Is the UFC in a worst spot than we know here?

E-Man, they lost their big title fight main event. They had a replacement. Jon Jones refused. They needed a Jon Jones light heavyweight title fight for the main event and couldn't get a suitable replacement.

All the fighters are getting their fights moved elsewhere. It sucks but them's the breaks.

Injuries hit this card as well. They already lost their original co-main event with Koscheck dropping out. UFC tried to salvage the card. Jon Jones said no.

Then that proves it, Shogun's psyche is broken. Oh well, he can't b***h about not getting a title shot now. Then again, the fight is on a week's notice and fighters like Machida and Rua likely want a training camp for Jones.

Quite frankly, I don't understand why Jon would turn down Sonnen but fight Vitor. Both are low-threat fights. It's befuddling and unnecessary. Not only did Jon damage his reputation further but he cost his employer an event by refusing to fight.

DoomsdayApex,

Guess what dude. Shogun fought in Pride. On one night he fought Alistair Overeem and Ricardo Arona. Arona beat his best friend and stablemate, WANDERLEI SILVA.

Shogun didn't get a training camp to fight Ricardo Arona a couple hours later. Going into the show it was very possible he could've faced practically his brother.

Different times, VileOne.

I'm certain that Shogun is aware that he's no longer the same fighter he was when he was 23-26. The beatdown he got from Jones really wounded Rua's confidence. Watching him fight Vera and Hendo showcased me that. At this point, I believe Shogun's career is heading the way of Liddell's.

shogun did'nt want title fight at fox event kind of funny dana says he was'nt worthy then now wanted to offer to him now lol

i lost respect for jones...hes not a fighting champion

What I don't understand is why are they in such a hurry to pump out a Jon Jones fight?

I mean the UFC 151 card has already been destroyed thanks to Jon Jones ducking Chael Sonnen, so whats the big rush to stick Jones on the next card to fight a guy that hasn't even been remotely connected to the LHW division since about 2007..? I mean fair enough I can understand Chael because he is moving up to LHW, but Belfort has no such plans.. infact his next fight was suppose to be at MW.

This is a joke, what they should have done was told Jones to go away for a few weeks while they arrange when he could fight Machida at a new yet unplanned event. Machida doesn't deserve the title shot since he is 1-1, but what's the point in having a ranking system & number 1 contender matches if they are just gonna bypass them all just to get a fight out. I mean I always hear about the LHW division being deep, yea it's so deep it runs to 185.

Jon Jones got absolutely destroyed on Twitter yesterday, his image has been destroyed completely. Any hopes he had of becoming a popular fighter are gone.
