Right now Ellenberger/Hieron which already lost Koscheck due to an injury.

Damn all these injuries! Darn the luck darn as the Huntsman would say.

Yeah, I doubt the UFC would move the Ellenberger/Hieron fight to the main event spot. Could Machida be prepared in time, do you think?

I mean it's 11 freaking days. Machida just fought I'm not sure.

Yeah, dumb question. Plus, I wonder what Machida walks around at. Refund the tickets and make 152 the new 151.

LOL, doubt cancelling 151 is a possibility and wouldn't really be fair to all the other fighters.

I dunno I mean some fighters have done really quick turnarounds. Chris Leben fought Akiyama on like 10 days notice. Maybe Machida could do it but he'd probably want some extra money or something.

He came in underweight at UFC on Fox so he seems to not get too heavy inbetween.

Other than that, not sure who else could do it.

Tough situation for the UFC, no doubt. This is what happens when you have too many cards though. This card isn't built for PPV and only is PPV with the Jones/Hendo fight. The only other thing I could see is if they make it a FUEL card and move Jones/Hendo to a later date.

EDIT: HENDO IS OFFICIALLY OUT! Jones declines fighting any other opponent. And, it looks like my guess was right. UFC 152 is the new UFC 151!

That sucks. My friend and teammate from middle school and high school was making his UFC debut in the prelims on FX. I wish they just made it a free card on FX and took out the title fight.

Yeah, Dana White just said this is the first time a champion has ever refused a fight. He called Greg Jackson a sport killer for telling Jones not to take the fight. And he said this is the most selfish thing a guy has ever done, because now the other guys on the card don't get to fight. I've always hated Jones, and now this just builds that hate even more. I don't like him.

I don't see why he would tell him to not take the fight. I mean, honestly, you have similar things to worry about with Sonnen and Henderson, but Sonnen doesn't have the one punch KO power of Henderson.

And if Jon Jones is so worried about low PPV sells with Machida, he should have taken this Sonnen fight. There's your money Jones!

So the whole UFC 151 has been cancelled because Dan Henderson injured himself & wouldn't be fit in time. In my opinion that just goes to show you the calibre/name of the other fighters on that card. None of them good enough to be enough of an attraction on PPV & the UFC had banked on the Main Event making them the money.

Jon Jones talks so much on Twitter about what it takes to be a champion & all sorts of 'inspirational' material he has picked up over the years.. then refuses to take on a challenger for his championship on short notice. Not a very champion like thing to do at all, imagine where Jones would be right now if Shogun had refused to fight Jones on 3/4 weeks notice.

Supposedly it was Greg Jackson who told Jones he shouldn't fight Sonnen on 8 days notice, absolutely ridiculous. Jon should be suitably prepared for a guy that has good wrestling & good striking to take care of Henderson, 2 characteristics Chael Sonnen also has the only difference being Sonnen doesn't have that 1 punch KO power & his cardio is better.

Really says it all doesn't it, it tells you the type of fighter Greg Jackson breeds, cautious, careful, safety first all the way. There was me thinking Jon Jones was a hungry fighter looking to defeat everyone in sight.

if shogun took a late notice title defense against jon jones then why cant bones?

I agree that Jones should've fought. Sonnen in no way deserved the shot, but hell, it's a fight. Lots of people lost money on this now. However, the comparison to Shogun is not really a good one. Shogun at 6 weeks for Jones, not 1.

A change in opponent is still a change in opponent.

hey if bisping took a 1 week notice with chael and arguably won wtf is jones scared about lol

i feel bad for the under card fighters these guys dont have a nike deal or make a crap ton of money like jones

and now they wont make money because jones would'nt be a company man

HAHA! Looks like the UFC is keeping the name of UFC 152. No 151 will ever exist. Looks like their is going to be a blank spot in my DVD collection.

Jones just ruined his relationship with the fans. And this move will tarnish his legacy, in my eyes. The first champion to refuse a fight. At least Chael can now say, "This guy has been ducking me for the last 5 years." HAHA!

I don't get why they canceled the whole card. Moving one or two fights isn't so bad, but the whole damn card? I see why Jones would turn down Sonnen, but every fight? While we don't know who all they offered him since we aren't in the negotiations, but I figure that they would have to have offered multiple people besides just one guy. I'm really not understanding this here. Surely someone would suffice considering the circumstances and how much money is behind the card. With Machida I understand him getting more time to train, but Jones has been training for a while for this event.

I think what really upsets people most is that the event is canceled. When you think about it, turning down Chael to fight Machida gives us a better match since Chael hasn't earned a damn thing at that weight yet while Machida is still top notch there. If the event was so dependent on Jones fighting then people should be pissed at Jones there. If the UFC is playing hardball with Jones by canceling the event because he won't play by their rules then it's as much on them as it is on Jones. I don't give a damn whose fault it is, the fighters on the card and the fans are getting the shaft here. Even if it was a weak card those guys have family and fans coming to see them.

I do find it funny though how people are using their irrational Greg Jackson hate to blame it on him. Even if he told Jones not to fight Chael it doesn't matter because Jones is a grown ass man. No matter how much he takes Greg's advice he is still responsible for his own decisions.

I just read about it. UFC 151 canceled? :wow: This a first for The UFC. I'm genuinely shocked. I never thought I see the day...

As for the Jon Jones situation, I can't say I'm surprised. Jon has always radiated of bulls**t. No to Sonnen? Seriously, Jones is full of it, and Greg Jackson is poison to the sport.

I’ve lost a huge amount of respect for Jon Jones over this. If you’re a champion, you should be facing whoever your boss puts in front of you. I can kind of understand champions who have built up a bit of credit handpicking the best opponents or making the most money for themselves, but to say, “No, I’m not fighting at all. You’re going to have to cancel the event” is so disrespectful to all the fans. Whoever they give the shot to, for whatever reason, the champ should fight. Jones may only have eight days to prepare for Chael Sonnen, but he’s been in a camp for eight weeks. If he’s the best in the world, eight weeks should be enough to beat anyone. Let’s not forget this was a man who, earlier in the week, complained about having to fight Lyoto Machida again because he won’t make much money from him. Not only would he have made more money from the sales of fighting Sonnen, but now he’s stopped people worse off than him from making any money at all.

Many of the fights are moving to FX anyway. They couldn't put it on FX or Fuel.

Also Jones said he never says no to the UFC. Here is what Jones said FOUR MONTHS AGO!

“I’m glad the UFC wanted to work with me, as well. I think they trust that I will never make them look bad. You never have to worry about me getting a DWI or doing something crazy. I think I’m a good company guy.

“The UFC asks me to do anything and I always do it. I never tell them ‘no.’ I think I’ve had to do more marketing than any other fighter because I say no to absolutely nothing. I don’t think most champs are like that.”
