The thing is even after tonight, I don’t know how good Weidman is. He’s obviously very good, but is he a champion that will keep the belt for years, or will Belfort knock his head off? Belfort won’t be fighting with his hands down; do it in Brazil for fun too.

I think if Vitor fights Weidman, Vitor obliterates him inside 2 rounds.. just as Anderson should have if he hadn't started dancing around & messing about.

I don't think Weidman is going be there for long, either he'll do a rematch with Silva or Vitor will be the next challenger, either way I think Weidman loses.

We all knew this day was coming. Silva taunts and disrespects his opponent on a regular basis in the cage... but against Weidman?

Chris is a good prospect but a focused Ando would have raped Weidman. This loss definitely taints Silva's legacy.

I didn't believe the hype about Weidman before this fight, and I still don't. Silva is an idiot for messing around like that. He could've put the pressure on and stopped him.

I hope Belfort gets his shot and knocks Weidman clean out, and that fight should happen before a rematch with Silva.

Lost a bit of respect for Silva tonight. He's taunted plenty of opponents but this felt especially unprofessional.

Weidman loses beats everyone in division via sub.

GSP has a lot of heavy hitters comin.

The American wrestler seems to be dominating MMA.

I had a saying about showboating: "Remember the Reem" from when Overeem just tried to humiliate instead of finish Bigfoot and got caught. I guess I'll have to call it "Remember the Spider" now. Wish more fighters would.

This is the greatest night in the history of our sport!

Honestly Weidman is all hype, he hasn't done anything that has impressed me in the UFC anymore than Bisping has, which is why I hold him in the same sort of category as Bisping ie not in the elite of the division.. that being said, if you mess around & start dancing about, pretending like you are wobbled repeatedly against anyone.. even an amateur, you can get KO'd if you are hit right on the button.

He needs to get back to being more serious in fights.

Overeem didn't showboat though, he gassed.. as usual.

yeah i am still pissed this was not a passing of the torch like gsp/hughes, BJ/Edgar,Rampage/Chuck ,weidman didn't come across as a better fighter

silva didn't lose due to age, loss of reaction time, weidman being a better fighter

anderson loss due to being arrogant and not respecting his opponent

this is more in line with gsp/serra

Silva had that s*** coming. He's had it coming for years.

But still, two things:

- Weidman is going to get beat on his next fight. Not to discredit his skill, but if Silva wasn't acting a fool like he usually does, he would have won.

- You know GSP is happy.

Anderson is so damn eccentric. The same thing that makes him the GOAT also caused his loss last night. I'm so disappointed that the reign ends this way, but being a huge Anderson fan I guess it's just desserts to go with all the fun times. I hope that he takes the rematch and hits up Weidman like he did with Franklin. There was a time against the cage there that I was thinking that he had an opportunity for several brutal knees. He fought the way he did though, and right up until that last moment I was cheering and talking about how the man is brilliant. I'm sad, but I guess it's not as bad as seeing him just get dominated like some of my other favorites when they got older.

Silva will come back as a force. There's no way he lets his career end like that.

I can’t help but think Belfort is at home licking his chops, and he’s going to have his TDD crisp while training with the likes of Rashad Evans. Even at his age, he’d be too fast for Weidman.

You bet your ass he is, Vitor has good TDD & as he proved in the Jones fight, he isn't exactly a white belt off his back either, aside from the near submission he did a decent job off his back to nullify damage recieved.

With this new arsenal of kicks he has added to his already devastating hand speed, if Vitor is the first defence for Weidman as opposed to a Silva rematch, he's going to destroy Weidman.

That's what Silva gets for disrespecting the sport.

Regardless of what Silva says now, I'm going to bet there will be a rematch, and that fight will look like a trolljob.

Damn, give Chris Weidman at least some credit for staying mentally focused and not falling for Anderson's taunts and recklessly attacking like others have, and getting tagged with a counter which Anderson does best.

Anderson Silva got taken down quickly in the first round and ate some hard shot off his back and had to defend a sub attempt from Chris.

When he got back up, Silva realized that it's going to happen again if he didn't keep his hands down in order to defend the takedown. He also tried to bait Chris into brawling, so he can counter him. Chris was smart and didn't let Anderson get in his head. He was also slipping Silva's punches. This frustrated Silva, and made him taunt Chris even more, and he paid the price. Anderson fought Chris the same way he fought other fighters. Chris is just better than Silva .

Read the post I made before this one.

^your crazy chris is not better chris so called wrestling and subs had no effect on silva silva did'nt take much damage on the ground and nullified Chris's grappling

chris won because silva let him punch him in the face end of stroy
