Chris Weidman isn't even in Anderson Silva's league. Weidman is to Silva what Douglas was to Tyson, Serra was to GSP, Rahman/McCall to Lewis etc etc.
Weidman didn't do anything in the fight to make me respect his talent, Silva caused his own defeat in the fight by not showing him enough respect. Yes Silva does this stuff occasionally in other fights, however not to this level, the only time we've seen him dance around so much like that & be so animated was against Maia.
Any other time he does this sort of stuff he is still respectful enough to take his opponent seriously. He was pretending to be hurt & scared in this fight mid-fight.. and during the punch in which Weidman clipped him, he actually encouraged Weidman to attack because he acted like he was hurt by a jab.
Even in defeat, because Silva was doing what he was doing, it still makes this fight meaningless.. just as it would have been had Silva won. Weidman will no doubt either defend the title against Silva in a rematch or Vitor, if he can defend the title in convincing fashion, he'll earn applause from the public.. and me.
