JDS is just too one dimensional. If he can't hit he goes into survivor mode and does almost nothing. Cain had him pinned against the cage and it's like oh well guess I'll just take a beating until something opens up.

He did start to throw a few elbows but it seemed too late in the fight when he did. He should have been ripping elbows from the beginning when he was up against the fence. Don't have room to throw punches? then throw elbows.
Something like this.

If Fabrício Werdum is next then at least we will see some type offense if he gets pinned against the cage, maybe some clinch and knees. if he gets the chance.

Might be the first fight I'd like both fighters on the ground to see what happens. Ground and pound vs a good submissionist.

Who’s next for the winners of Saturday? The two fights I see in the future are Cain defending against Werdum and Gilbert facing Grant. If Cormier is serious about moving to 205, he needs to face Phil Davis.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll see Velasquez/Werdum next. It should be a good chess match if it hits the ground, which it almost certainly will. Can't wait to see that match-up.

Yeah, I'd like to see Melendez/Grant go at it for the next title shot. It only makes sense.

How many people will Machida have to get through at middleweight for a title shot, do you guys think?

I'd like to see Silva and Machida switch places, no matter if Silva wins the rematch or not.

We've seen Silva fight successfully at 205, and Silva/Jones could be one of the greatest fights of the era, if it were ever to happen. What greater challenge could Silva have if he were to beat Weidman in the rematch?

Machida thrown in as a contender now, and Gustafsson gets Lil Nog in London, March 8.

A good event last night. I think Rosi Sexton is the next woman to be released by UFC, who had already released Sheila Gaff after two losses.

So there’s a card in Sweden in January or February, and Gustafsson will fight Lil Nog in London in March? Brilliant…

Guillard vs. Pearson rescheduled for that card they’re putting Gustafsson/Lil Nog on.

If Silva beats Weidman, will they do an immediate third fight between them or hold off?

I'm a huge GSP fan, and I'll be rooting for him Saturday night. With that being said I actually feel as though Hendricks winning would be better for the UFC since there's no one left if GSP wins unless Lawler beats Rory and/or Matt Brown beats Condit. Take a look at the UFC rankings for welterweight, and imagine a GSP victory over Hendricks.

1. Johny Hendricks - GSP already beat him.
2. Carlos Condit -GSP already beat him, and he would only be on a 2 fight win streak if he beats Brown.
3. Rory MacDonald - Neither guy would fight each other.
4. Jake Ellenberger- Just lost to Rory.
5. Demian Maia -Just lost to Shields.
6. Martin Kampmann - Got sent into orbit by Hendricks, and just got taken apart by Condit.
7. Jake Shields- No one wants to see the rematch with GSP.
8. Matt Brown -If he beats Condit he'd definitely earn it. It's a tall order though.
9. Nick Diaz - Nothing but a joke.
10. Robbie Lawler - If he beats Rory he would be worthy of a shot against either guy.

There are some others like DHK, Lombard, Woodley, and a potentially signed Askren, but not many of these guys mentioned are GSP worthy. Somebody would have to get the shot, but Hendricks winning would really shake things up a bit.

Still, go GSP!

If Silva beats Weidman, will they do an immediate third fight between them or hold off?

Unless it's a ridiculously controversial decision then no as Belfort has been guaranteed the next shot.

The only reason Silva has got a rematch is because of the domination he has had over the division for so long.

Interesting choice. The thing is, some of the women on TUF and ones even at 135 now aren't even natural 135'ers.

As far as I can tell, that's the plan behind it. They skip bringing in the women's 125 division, and set it up so the smaller female flyweights can cut to 115, and the larger ones who struggle more to make 125 can go up to 135. Basically split the 125 division up amongst the 135 and 115 divisions, adding more depth to the two.

Dudes, I'm an ex-pat Canadian, living in New Zealand,
and I love UFC (since watching Keith Hackney knock out
Emmanuel Yarborough) but we never get it down here.

Anyway, first, go GSP ! The guy has the skills, the grit, and more class than anyone else. He's gracious in victory or defeat, even if he wasn't a world champ and Canada's greatest individual sportsman, his class alone would be
reason to respect him.

Okay, next, can't keep up with TUF down here. Have Rowsey and Tate rumbled yet ?

Who's the fave to win that one? Both Tate v Rowsey and the show ?
I could read about it on Wikipedia, but it's better to hear it from real fight fans.

peace !

Rousey/Tate II is at UFC 168 in December.

I'd say Rousey is the favorite since she submitted Tate in their first fight. Tate however has gotten a lot of positive attention from TUF because she comes off better on the show than the more emotional Rousey.

Final picks?

I got GSP, Evans, MacDonald, and Woodley.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HENDRICKS WON THAT :funny:

iMgcpZEDG2dvz.gif

And GSP walks away afterwards. Guess he wants to be a moviestar. :funny:

I thought GSP won.

I know I picked Rory to win, but I'm so glad Robbie got the victory.

What. A. Joke. First, Jones narrowly escapes a decent fighter with reach and size and now this...

Hendricks gave GSP a whooping he'll never forget (or maybe he will cuz he was having trouble conveying what he wanted to say in his post-fight interview) and GSP still won? Give me a break. Johny at least won three rounds. I call shenanigans.

How do you come up with GSP won that?? We weren't watching the same fight.

Clearly he didn't.

Hendricks won rounds 1, 2, and 4.

GSP won rounds 3 and 5.

Bam! Hendricks should be your new champ.

I don't like how G.S.P. always tries to play it safe and steal the win by getting the takedowns. I respect the man, but I'm glad he is retiring. Now we can get some fun tittle fights in that weight class.
