I think that the UFC is properly building their young talent. The problem is that hardcore MMA fans are dumb. They have no sport experience, so they get pissed off that the old legends and gone and replaced with new guys. I think Punk will help the transition get more attention. The UFC right now is loaded with talent, and this will give them a second look for some of the fans who kinda faded when their older favorites started hanging up the gloves and/or losing.

I'm a Punk fan from wrestling, but I'm not a fan of them having a guy debut with no major combat sports background. This is more out of Pride's page, but I'm betting that they didn't want Punk going to Bellator and getting locked up there for so many fights. Regardless what's done is done, and I'll be watching and rooting for Punk.

This. Assuming of course he isn't some closet Kempo black belt, I think it's quite a poor decision on the UFC's part to let him compete at one of their events. If indeed his backround is as minimal as I believe it is, seeing the likes of Shaquille O'Neal end up getting a fight or in general celebrities getting fights isn't completely out of the question because this signing is essentially a gimmick, a ploy to get more people watching UFC. Their happy because they'll get a whole legion of WWE fans & media interest in his debut fight, but ultimately it's going to be quite hurtful to the sport.

I didn't even like James Toney competing in the UFC, who also signed a multi-fight deal, let alone against Randy Couture. It was just such a given that Randy was going to destroy him for his ignorance thinking he could train some takedown defense & BJJ for 6 months and think he could last even a round with a former UFC multi-division champion.

EDIT - Just thinking, did anyone else remember Batista taking a stab at MMA, he also had next to no sort of MMA backround & in turn he looked like **** when he fought.

I'm not sure what you guys are saying. CM Punk is 36. He is not young talent. Unless you're suggesting that the UFC is bringing him in to get more eyeballs on the young fighters they're going to put him up against and try to build up. While that kind of sucks for CM Punk being a sort of sacrificial lamb for ratings, I can totally see that happening, and the most likely reason he's been signed.

Although it is funny how Dana would call such things "freakshow" fights back in the PRIDE days. Oh how the times have changed.
I was referring to the WWE and the part timer problem. As for Punk, he'll put more eyes on the product. Hopefully, his WWE fans will see something they like on the card &become UFC fans. It's not like he's being forcibly thrown to the lions. He's a grown man and a smart one too. He signed up for this and he knows what he's getting into. This is obviously something that's on his bucket list. He's willing to risk that ass whoopin' to see where he stands &I hope he does well.

Ditto. She's a finisher. Very well rounded & fun to watch

This is what I was hoping would not happen with CM Punk's signing...

Canseco wants CM Punk fight in UFC

I can beat the crap out of @cmpunk. I am ready @ufc
— Jose Canseco (@JoseCanseco) December 12, 2014

He does have MMA experience, but come on...I haven't seen him in a long time, but I don't think he is anywhere near the same size as CM Punk. Canseco was 6'4 and 250 when he lost to Hong Man Choi. He did lose a finger recently, but I don't think that's enough.

So when should we expect to hear from Shaquille O'neal wanting to join the UFC?

Nate Diaz is such an unprofessional jerk. Coming in over five pounds overweight.

He moans about his pay, so he comes in overweight and loses 20% of his purse. Disgraceful.

Both Diaz brothers are idiots and colossal *****ebags. We'd be lucky to never hear from them again. That seems to be what they want, but they just won't go away.

I've always hated both Diaz brothers. What did Nate Diaz think he was accomplishing last night talking so much **** from his back after getting his ass handled for three rounds? Like, you just had 15 minutes to legally kick Dos Anjos's ass if you wanted to , so don't act like a tough guy now.

It reminds me of Paul Daley throwing that punch at Josh Koschek after the fight. He did NOTHING for 15 minutes and then tries to fight? Come on, son.

JDS looked really sluggish last night. Even before he started taking a bunch of damage his punches didn't seem to have the speed that I'm used to. Even with that he still beat Miocic because Stipe is one of those guys who don't have anything beyond their initial game plan. On cruise control Dos Santos still beat him with superior footwork and combos. I still don't get why some MMA guys refuse to have a plan B or C. It's like they can't get past, "Okay I'm going to throw a one-two and clinch for the take down to tire him out." It's why I love watching a guy like Mighty Mouse so much. The dude has different ways to shut you down besides doing the same thing.

CM Punk is not the first guy to come into the UFC with no actual pro fights to his record. BJ Penn, Matt Mitrione, and Matt Riddle were all 0-0 when they started in the UFC.

Details of a class action lawsuit against the UFC will be revealed later this morning in a press conference. Will be curious to see what it is and who it involves. Dana White's gone on like a tropical vacation for the week, so looks like he won't be getting in the middle of it for now.

Ultimately, we will see how much merit it has. Honestly, I think improvements can be made in areas like fighter pay and all that. I know the sponsorship deal is controversial, but it's hard for me to bash it when we still don't know the amounts it provides to fighters as well as what fighters were making from their sponsors or what they were averaging out.

If it's lawyers just blowing smoke and going for a cash grab, I think people will be able to see through it.

I agree, but Stipe probably thought he won the first two rounds and might've edged out another round. He was holding his own against JDS fairly well.

JDS did win, but based off that performance, I never want to see him fight Cain again.

I could see the argument that Stipe won. I thought he had the first two rounds too, and you could maybe make an argument for another one. His problem is that once JDS adjusted he didn't have much to offer. That's what makes the elite what they are. JDS looked bad and sluggish, but his skills are definitely enough to beat a guy like Stipe on cruise control because Stipe only had a few tricks in his bag.

As for him fighting Cain again I never want to see that either, but that has more to do with the fact that they've fought enough times in addition to the fact that Cain brutally beat his ass the last two times. Enough is enough, and it's time for a change.

Here are the details of the class action lawsuit against the UFC. Lawyers are representing Cung Le, Nate Quarry, and Jon Fitch.

Honestly, don't want to get in a big legal debate. Not a lawyer. While I have my view, ultimately, the courts will decide who is right and who is wrong in this case.

Talked sh** about his ex-boss. Asks for his job back. :o

The only thing I can say about the Rampage resigning is that it's exciting.

Glad to see Machida get the win tonight.

Dominick Cruz is hurt again. :csad:

Dillashaw's next likely opponent Raphael Assuncao has a broken ankle.

So...Dillashaw vs. Faber anyone? I don't want to see Barao/Dillashaw II.

They might just wanna keep Dillashaw on the sidelines until he has a viable opponent. At least, I hope that happens. Too soon for him to be fighting Faber. I expect that fight to happen only when there is no one left.

I doubt Dillashaw would fight Faber and vice versa. They train together, and we know how that usually goes. I'd love to see it, but a tight knit team like that usually avoids fighting among themselves. Assuncao would be the rightful challenger. He was supposed to fight Barao until he got hurt before, and now he's hurt again. I guess it's Barao again by default, but he looked pretty bad Saturday. It's like he hasn't learned much from the T.J. loss, and he's stuck on that ******** about how it needs to be in Brazil. Dudes going to get beat again if he doesn't get better head movement and cardio.

Yeah, but Faber and Dillashaw have admitted they would fight each other, they'd just want to wait until that is the only option available.
