It would be weird as hell if Faber got his first UFC title by beating one of his training partners. I'd love to see them fight though. I feel bad for Faber because he was king of the mountain for a while in WEC, but you can tell he wants that UFC gold as a feather in his cap.

Good to see Rampage coming back, without doubt his best years are behind him so I don't expect to ever see him fight for the title again unless he chains together 2 or 3 strong wins. But there are a few fights I'd like to see namely rematches, wouldn't mind seeing him and Henderson go at it again, Shogun & even Rashad if he remains at 205lbs.

Sucks for Cruz tearing his ACL again, very unlucky run of injuries he's had these past 3 or 4 years that have no doubt hampered his legacy at least for the time being unless he can come back again.

Anyway, Happy Christmas folks.

Wow, he even came out to "Cult Of Personality"!

Cowboy is the awesome. He made Jury look basic.

Jones poking dude in the eye. He's known for that! :argh:

Don't start that, DC won the 2nd round and that was it. Bones controlled him easier than I thought, especially with the hoopla over Cormier's wrestling. But he's not the first, this idea that anyone is going to just come in and manhandle Jones with wrestling or anything else should be put to bed by now...

Eh, disappointing fight. I thought DC would smother him but he seemed gas into the 2nd round. Jones was hurt a few times but again, DC had no gas to finish him. Jones is known for poking guys eyes though. I like them both and it was hard for me to root against either of them. On a side note, I can't believe the bashing Jones gets for fighting in his division yet Gustafenson(spelling)who actually looks bigger doesn't get the same criticism.

Thought it was a good fight, Jones did extremely well because the pace DC was setting in the opening rounds was fast & furious, seemed to pay for it late on particularly the 4th round which was probably the most 1 sided of the whole fight.

Jon's oblique kicks & knees to the body took it out of Cormier, he was basically trying to do what Rampage did to him & essentially walk him down to keep the distance close, but there's only so many of them you can take before you realise you'll be in trouble if you continue.

Very good fight, no doubt both will face each other again, Cormier certainly brought it, pushed Jon very hard, even Jon was gassing out a little, if Cormier was as young as Jones & therefore in theory as in such peak shape, it could well have been 5 rounds of non-stop action.

Man, the moment Paul Felder murdered Danny Castillo with that back fist, the momentum of the night kinda turned into a game of chess. Fairly entertaining games of chess, but chess games nonetheless.

Burkman apparently had been dealing with health issues this week, but pushed through them as best as he could. Lombard on the other hand looked good in that he showed patience and picked his shots in an effort to save energy, but looked awkward in his movement when he didn't get the first round finish. Watching him move gets so weird sometimes.
With the Flyweights, I'm always happy, so I'm not gonna complain about a lack of a finish. Their perfect technique made up for it.
Nate Marquardt hasn't really been the same since Chael Sonnen, and Brad Tavares has really been coming into his own as of late (even in his losses last year). Last night, Brad showed maturity, patience, and that he can take a punch and give one too. If you thought the fight was boring, I'd blame the loser.
Miles Jury got a big wake up call last night. Donald Cerrone showed Jury that he isn't as great as he thought he was, and mentally broke him to the point that he started running like a scared child. If either Pettis or RDA gets injured before their title fight in March, Cerrone would be an appropriate replacement.
I came into this fight hoping Daniel Cormier would win, and in rounds 2 and 3, I thought my hopes were being answered. Somewhere in the fourth round, everything just started going wrong for DC, and Jon Jones just did what he does best... Beat people up, and piss people off. Him retaining his title, then giving us his usual 2-face routine, coupled with the Steelers losing last night sent me to bed on a low note.

I think Cain has more than 1 year's worth of guys he needs to worry about before he even thinks about fighting Jones.

Alvarez is out, and Cerrone is taking his place so we're getting Cerrone/Henderson 3. Looking forward to that.

Rewatching the fight it's laughable that many were backing Cormier to compete let alone win. He looked like he had no gameplan, and from the weigh-ins to the first bell I'm not sure I've ever seen a fighter look so nervous. If that call against Hamill were wiped from the record you're looking at a fighter 22-0 in MMA, having only two less consecutive title defenses than the lauded Anderson Silva, and who's beginning to specialize in defeating opponents outside of his own comfort zone, it's incredible. Jones is one of the greats, and he's not even thirty...scary! All that's left is Gus vs. Rumble winner, and then I bet we see this dude move up, both Jones and Velasquez have one challenge each left in their divisions.

Jones mentioned that he is having to eat more to put on weight now, and that he plans on staying at 205. He said that if he moved up to heavyweight it would have to be against the right opponent who is a bit smaller. Cain does fit that bill, so maybe by next year that will happen. He did say though that GSP and Anderson are the two that you can say are better all time than him because of their accomplishments, and that this year he wants to make it so that there would be no more argument. My guess is that his goal is to break or tie Anderson's title defense record by the end of the year. He'd have to fight and successfully defend the belt three more times to surpass Anderson this year, and I can't really see him taking 4 fights by the end of December. He does have a real shot to tie that record though. He could beat the winner of Rumble/Gustaffson in the spring, then fight again in the fall or winter against someone like....Phil Davis I guess? The pickings are really slim since he's beat damn near everyone but Phil and Rumble at this point.

I think he breaks Anderson's record early next year, and then maybe goes up to fight Cain as a showcase to see if he could pull a Roy Jones. The biggest things standing in his way to overcome Anderson and GSP are amount of top ten opponents beaten, title defenses, and, in the case of The Spider, beating top 5 ranked opponents across three weight classes. It should be fun watching him to see how far he goes. Not only do I love seeing a legend in their prime, but the tears of Jon Jones haters is always hilarious.

Don't count out Aldo though. He's in a similar spot as Jones, and he's not too far from passing Anderson either. Of course his problem is the perceived lack of quality talent in his weight class compared to the other greats, but he's carving himself a nice legend as well.

And Mighty Mouse. He just may hold on to that flyweight belt for five more years if he stays injury free. Can't help but love that guy!

Anyone else find it odd there has yet to be a superhero that is an MMA fighter as their alter ego. The closest thing would be Prodigy the Spider-Man sidekick and starter of the Civil War Rebellion whom was a NCAA champion for Empire State.

BREAKING: UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has entered a drug rehab facility after testing positive for cocaine. (via @YahooSports)

Jones tests positive for Cocaine

NSAC executive director Bob Bennett confirmed to ESPN.com on Tuesday that Jones, 27, tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine. Jones has informed the NSAC he has admitted himself into a drug treatment center.

Crazy **** that Jones was using coke. Hopefully he gets help in rehab because that is no joke.

Hope he get's help but I'd be on coke If I got that much money fighting twice a year.

Cocaine, and Cormier still couldn't beat him? That's a shame.

I think it takes like three days for coke to get out of your system. He should change his name to Bonehead Jones.

Matt Riddle got cut because he failed multiple times, and he kept failing the drug tests to get licensed. It's not like he got cut after one time. This is like people thinking that Josh Gordon got suspended just for smoking weed. Riddle might still be in the UFC if he could get licensed, but instead he blames everyone but himself. Even Bellator cut him quickly because they didn't want to deal with his ****. Weed should be legal, but he knew the rules. He just kept breaking them and not giving a damn. I don't feel sorry for him one bit.

For what it's worth, it was an out of competition test a month ago and it's doubtful he failed the test the weekend of the fight. A line of coke isn't gonna give you an advantage that far in advance. Apparently, it's not even suspendible out of competition :csad:
