For what it's worth, it was an out of competition test a month ago and it's doubtful he failed the test the weekend of the fight. A line of coke isn't gonna give you an advantage that far in advance. Apparently, it's not even suspendible out of competition :csad:

It's not performance enhancing he'll be fine. A slap on the wrist for being a naught boy that's it.

Jon Jones in 2009 said:
“I’ve always been a person who tries to do the right thing in life, for the most part,” said Jones. “I’m no angel, but I was always the kid who snitched on the kids who had pot. I don’t want to offend the pot smokers out there, but I was kind of just a snitch. I was just down for people doing the right thing. My parents kind of raised me to be a good guy. I’ve always been down for the good side, I guess.”

Shoe's on the other foot now, eh Jones? A monumental prick.

Man, this stuff with Jon Jones is pretty crazy. I didn't believe it at first.

Oh, and the funniest comment that I saw was "Jon Jones-the best fighter, gram for gram."

I think it takes like three days for coke to get out of your system. He should change his name to Bonehead Jones.

I believe, but don't quote me, Matt Riddle was cut for a couple of reasons. One of which being he failed drug tests for marijuana twice inside 12 months with both of his fights having their results overturned as a result.

I also believe his tests were considered, inside competition, which is why the fights he was involved in became no contests. Whereas Jones's failure is deemed outside of competition because the random blood samples were taken over a month before the fight.

I'm not educated enough on cocaine, nor weed for that matter, or the variations of each drug(s), but I wouldn't consider either of those a PED.. in fact if anything from what I've seen they'd have more of a detrimental effect on you as opposed to a beneficial one.

If he'd been caught juicing or basically using something that was widely considered to be performance enhancing I'd be all for him to be stripped of his title & cut. But because it was cocaine, I actually to an extent feel kinda bad for him & hope he isn't a regular user of the drug. It's obviously his own fault for taking something like that, but generally there's usually some sort of backstory to how someone finds their way onto drugs.. like depression or some sort of psychological issue. Regardless of whether I like or hate him, I hope he gets clean.

Only reason Jones is being protected is because he's champ. Guaranteed is this happened to some unknown 205'er, he'd be cut instantly. I don't really care though. It is what it is.

Well not really, the UFC has a history for standing beside some fighters for certain things & crucifying them for other things.

I don't know if the UFC could really do anything besides fining a guy for what happened with Jones. Cocaine isn't illegal out of competition, so according to the state athletic commission he didn't violate any rules. If the UFC cut someone for a situation like that it could backfire legally. The person didn't fail any tests, and they didn't violate any rules. The only leg they'd have to stand on is if that person lost a fight, or if there is a drug clause in their contracts or something. Even then I think it would probably be looked at like a mulligan if it's their first time doing anything bad. If they're like Thiago Silva though, and they've missed weight a bunch of times, then they probably would get cut.

Cocaine is a recreational drug it's not performance enhancing. That and he's one of the UFC's major attractions will see him get a little slap on the wrist and that's it.

My understanding is the only type of drugs fighters can be banned/fined for by the commission out of competition are performance enhancing drugs. Things like cocaine or weed aren't really performance enhancing at all.. but are obviously illegal within competition time. Any other time of the year fighters are free to take these sorts of drugs as much as they like.. it's one of the reasons the UFC aren't publicly criticising him or cutting him.

It's definitely against the UFC's code of conduct, and technically they can do a lot of things to him if they feel like it.

They'd be crazy to fire him, because Bellator or someone else would take him immediately. But they really should strip him of the title, or at least fine him. MMA already has a bad reputation and having a cokehead champ isn't going to help the public's perception.

The UFC's code of conduct covers it, but apparently it doesn't apply to their cash cows.

They really should do SOMETHING, especially since he only ended up spending one day in rehab, making that look like a total joke too.

This isn't his first strike either. He was busted for a DUI before as well, which would also be in violation of the code of conduct with no repercussions then either.

So Jones was in rehab for one day and bounced. Dana says that he's basically done speaking for Jones, but did say that the truth will come out about everything and make sense to everyone.

Since this just looks so bad, I'm sure they're going to make up some story about how he had to relocate to another facility, or is doing outpatient rehab and will go back later.

I was pulling for Cerrone because I ****ing love that guy. But I can't agree with the judges there. I actually really like Henderson, too. I've only pulled against him when facing Cerrone and Pettis.

Siver is all but done for after one round; the stop is imminent.

Just a beating, clear and simple.

Aldo was loving that. He's never been a huge ppv draw (despite being a pound for pound great), and McGregor is selling the hell out of their fight.

Yeah, the judges weren't right. I can't even fathom how it was a unanimous decision. The look on Henderson's face said it all.

And I can't wait to see Aldo/McGregor. McGregor is good. Really good. And he's the kind of personality that the UFC needs. But I hope Aldo beats the living hell out of him.

Cerrone/Henderson was a close fight that could've went either way. Shame it wasn't five rounds since McGregor/Siver wasn't ever going the distance, but whatever.

2 terrible decisions on Sunday. Cerrone/Henderson obviously, but also Cathal/Spencer. WTF was that?

Benson Henderson is one of my favorites. The fight was close, I think if it went 5 rounds, we would have a clear cut winner. I personally though Henderson won, and clearly, he did as well.

I like Cerrone too, and am glad for his recent success.

McGregor appeared ready to fight Jose Aldo right then and there after he beat Siver. LOL

Did anyone else see Jon Jones' exclusive interview with Fox Sports 1. He said some interesting things....1) apparently he has used cocaine off and on since college, he said it was infrequent use, but regardless, he didn't claim this was his first time.
2) He is currently doing some form of substance abuse counseling on an outpatient basis per the recommendation of the facility he checked into for 24 hours-this includes weekly drug screens and "talks" with one of the counselors.
3) He said he knew the test would be positive for cocaine when he took it. He also said the usage that caused this test to be positive happened at a party.

Thanks for the summary, I recorded it but haven't watched yet. Props to him for his honesty.

Cro Cop is back in the UFC.
I'm a huge fan of Cro Cop and always will be, I just really don't want to see him get KO'd anymore. He just hasn't looked good at all even in his last 3 wins, he just pushes off of people and doesn't really throw combos at all.

I'm sure this is in reaction to Bellator offering him a deal and the UFC giving them a big middle finger. Hopefully they'll put him up against guys like Nog or Barnett maybe?

CroCop's first fight back is rumored to be a rematch with the man who completely destroyed his aura of awesomeness and badassery... Gabriel Gonzaga!

Really scared for CroCop's brain, but excellent matchmaking by Joe Silva.

Coming into this fight with Aldo, McGregor is riding a hype streak that Aldo didn't even have when he challenged Mike Brown for the WEC Championship! Aldo could potentially get Aldo'd by McGregor, especially when you consider that Aldo's body won't be making 145 for much longer, and McGregor is proving himself to be one of the most elite athletes in all of sports!
