I want to compete in MMA soon, and I don't want additional brain damage from some weak-minded ***** with pills and needles in his medicine cabinet. I want a clean sport.
That being said, I've been on Ritalin since kindergarden, treating ADHD, so either I have to learn to cycle off and develop Incredible Hulk levels of self-control, or I will likely have to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption.

So I don't know how to feel about this, other than the weed rules are stupid, and Nick Diaz has severe anxiety that he self-medicates with weed.

Self control is probably the most important thing in MMA. Not having that is guaranteed to get you knocked against the upper echelons of fighters. 90% mental, 10% physical.

GSP is like "I definitely ain't coming back now, Dana. No matter how much money you throw at me." Whether or not he was taking some super soldier serum, we will never know. Aside from the vaseline thing, is there any legitimate dirt on GSP?

Meh, GSP's sanctimonious act doesn't make me believe he never used the gear.

His HGH gut

I just like to believe GSP was a freak of nature. Today, he's probably on something, considering how huge he's gotten (he's joined Matt Serra up at Heavyweight, but with an entirely different body type), but while he was an active fighter, I feel like he was clean, and just had a very special body.

The HGH gut can only really be speculation. Innocent until proven guilty, I guess.

It hurt a lot to see Anderson fail that drug test, he's one of my sporting idols right up there with the likes of Tyson & Ali to name a few, so when he was caught with traces of some form of PED's in his system it really stings seeing one of your favourite competitors name getting dragged through the mud with every victory, performance & in general the quality of his greatness/ability being questioned.

One of the biggest things I've a problem with is the failed tests of both Diaz and Silva don't make the UFC look that great, like those tests were taken on the 9th I believe from what I read & both were allowed to compete on the 31st with the results conveniently only coming out a day or so after the event.

It just paints an amazingly bad picture on the UFC as if they had the pre-test results delayed till after the fight because the failure of both fighters as it was within 4 weeks of competition would have resulted in the fight being scrapped. As least that's my understanding of it anyway.

On the subject of drugs in general, Anderson was without question going to be on something that is, competition wise, illegal that aided in his bones quick healing as well as the rebuilding of his lose of leg muscle. 12 months to recover fully from such a bad break is pretty unusual, I had a friend break his leg in a similar fashion during sport & was only probably completely recovered & back to training after around 18 months. Anderson I presume was back sparring after less than 8 or 9 months which is astounding. His leg injury is the only thing that's somewhat clouding the failure from Anderson's perspective as I'm not sure if either of the 2 substances he was failed for could have still been aiding in his recovery, but one things for certain, once he'd agreed to get back into competition, he should have ceased taking them if that's what they were intended for and delay any possible comeback until you are fully healed and off all questionable drugs.

Nick's failure was just stupidity, we all know he likes a smoke now & again, but why he would do it just weeks before the biggest payday of his career & get himself a fine as well as a suspension is pretty stupid on his part.

Diaz is who Diaz is as a fighter. He'll likely get suspended again but that won't matter. Nick can launch a lawsuit against the NSAC and/or Zuffa and win. After all, they fudged up big time. In that scenario, Diaz walks into the sunset with some decent change and calls it a career. He's getting that big payday regardless of the outcome.

As for GSP, there will always be speculation. He was too much of a freak athlete to be clean. I want to believe that he was a modern day Spartan at peak human levels but I'm too cynical and jaded to accept that now. It sucks. We might be witnessing the end of an era here. The Golden Era in MMA. Granted, MMA still has Rousey, Pettis, Aldo, Jones, Velasquez, etc but two of these champions/draws are injury prone, and one is in "rehab".

Made Condit run. Made GSP GSP even harder. Made Silva juice.

DIAZ. GREATEST OF ALL TIME!

Just because a person is a freak athlete doesn't mean that they are on something. In high school I played football with a bunch of guys who did what people would consider freakish stuff, and I know damn well were weren't on steroids. Hell I jumped over 7 people crouched over on a mat when I was 13, and I was squatting over 500 pounds before my senior year. I wasn't even the best in squat either. I was probably 5th best. That just scratches the surface of the stuff that we did, and it wasn't like we were the only high school with athletes doing that. If I wasn't a lazy, fat ass I'd probably have been benching 400, squatting 600, and running faster than the 4.8 that was my best. The same could be said for numerous guys I played with.

Bottom line is that guys do crazy stuff all the time. My brother ran a 4.45 40 yard dash when he was 14, and he hadn't trained a day of track in his life. Could GSP be on roids? Sure he could, but looking at his body is bad speculation. Most of the guys getting popped aren't even this ripped dudes. Royce, Barnett, and Anderson all had wildly different physiques when they got busted. Muscles don't really tell the tale all the time.

My reactions from Ando to Fitch to now Lombard. All I can do is laugh at this point.

HAHA! Man! And the UFC paid 300,000 for Lombard to SHOW! Wow. Can't catch a break. If Lombard comes back, he coming down to 155. HAHA!

This is exactly why the Dana and Zuffa has never wanted better drug testing. They talk about the price, but that is straight up BS. They are fine with their guys juicing as long as they don't get caught.

Why are all these drug testing results delayed to after the fights? That's easy.

Didn't Lombard and Diaz fail the fight night test? Can't get those before the fight. Anderson's test results are the disgrace.

Fans can say what they want but I have more faith in Pride's legacy (despite Japan refusing to screen drug testing) than the UFC's now. Could have Fedor, Cro Cop, Nogueira, Shogun, Rampage, etc used? Of course, BUT neither one of these fighters appeared to "improve" past the age of 30. In fact, the opposite transpired. A good portion of Pride's superstars who came to America aged considerably or went into decline with the exception of Wanderlei, Hendo, Overeem, Ando, Lombard, etc. Strangely enough, it's starting to make sense now.

Man, I'd be super pissed if Velasquez, Pettis, Rousey, and Condit were to test positive for PEDs. They're the last draws for me in MMA.

********. All those ****ers were juiced to the gills and were never tested. Pride's first ever event in the US and four of the fighters on the card got popped.

CSAC has a rule a that fight cannot be cancelled or delayed until results from a pre-fight test come back.

Fans are two-faced about this issue. Fans say they hate cheaters and PED users but that's exactly what they want to pay for.

Fans knew Lance Armstrong and Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa were dirty but they ignored it until they got caught.

I always wondered what the point of a fight night test if the results aren't finalized until after the fight. So the $$$ is already collected and the organization can act high and mighty afterwards? Illogical process.

I agree with you. It's an out of sight, out of mind scenario. Nobody wants their viewing experience ruined. And somebody needs to make some $$$.
