I agree with Batmannerism, I think GSP should just stay un-officially retired. Since he vacated the title & stepped back he tore his other ACL, meaning he now has had torn ACL's in both knees which are quite serious injuries. Given that GSP is quite an athletic fighter, anything such as this that could potentially damage his athleticism could make things difficult for him in the cage.
Wow ! I can't remember the last time someone agreed with me.Cool !
t:Yeah, GSP v Silva is the fight a lot of folks want to see - but both are clearly past their prime, so I don't know if it would live up to expectations.
I mean Chuck Liddell was absolutely great in his day, but towards the end he had some poor showings - because it was time to walk away.
Really, Bisping should think about retiring too - I mean he's 37, and he's just beat Anderson Silva, you couldn't go out on a better note than that !
Randy Couture was the exception, in terms of guys who could fight UFC convincingly in their 40's, but his last fight showed that even he was not immune to aging and the resulting drop in performance, ouch !
So all in all, if I was GSP's management I would advise him to give it a miss (it's been a couple of years now ) diversify his business holdings and investments and become involved with MMA from a trainer/promoter/management level. There are plenty of roles a guy like GSP could do, even within sports in Canada, or just sports in Quebec. I don't think that he has anything to gain by reentering the ring, and a lot to lose.
