Official Wolverine And The X-men, Episode 7 "Wolverine Vs. Hulk" Discussion Thread

I dare say Hulk had a better team-up episode from "Hard Knocks" from FANTASTIC FOUR: WORLD'S GREATEST HEROES.

I found this one to be mediocre, as I stated before. Not good, but not terrible. Middle of the road. I liked it more than the Gambit episode, although that's only because I don't care much for Gambit.

Agreed, it wasnt horrible, just a little typical of a kid's cartoon. I also liked it more than the Gambit episode.

I recently rewatched FF:WGH's episode "HARD KNOCKS" that had the Hulk and I reaffirm my opinion that it was a better Hulk guest appearance than this episode. The action seemed slightly better and FF:WGH had great animation quality, even if the designs usually turned people off. Hulk had a better design in "Wolverine vs. The Hulk", though, and a better vocal performance. Plus, the tones of both shows are as opposite as day and night.

Buuuuttt, "Hard Knocks" > "Wolverine vs. The Hulk" to me.

Like I said, it's only a debut season so I can forgive some mediocre episodes. None have been outright terrible to me, which is fine. 7 episodes in, and W&TXM is much better than THE BATMAN and LEGION OF SUPERHEROES were. Comparing it to X-MEN EVOLUTION and FANTASTIC FOUR: WGH is difficult because the tones and objectives of those shows are different. FF:WGH hardly hit it's peak stride this early into it's life, though. Sadly, CN and most viewers had given up on it by then.

This was the first episode I was able to see from this new series and I have to say that I enjoyed it very much. This was the best Wolverine in animated form that has been presented so far. Truly a force to be reckoned with. Sure it's watered down for cartoon standards but they did it very well. Wolverine truly tying in to the Wendigo off screen works for me. If you can't show blood and guts, elude to it. Excellent episode from what looks to be a very good series.

It was decent filler. I wanted blood though.

I enjoyed this episode more than the other 'solo' story eps. The animation quality picked up once again, too.

If you're comparing them to the first 7 episodes of either the batman or LoSH, you're correct. But there's no way Wolverine and the X-Men has touched the second season of Legion, or the 4th season of The Batman.
Not yet anyway.

loved how brutish Hulk was, I was totally expecting them to make Wolverine beat him, or atleast go toe to toe, that would've made me mad

Yes, I was comparing W&TXM to where THE BATMAN and LEGION OF SUPERHEROES were by episode 7.

Frankly, THE BATMAN was fairly terrible until the first season finale and needed the second season just to start to get decent. Looking at all of the combined episodes as a whole, including the "Batman Team Up" final season, it was a mediocre show with some great moments and solid animation/action sequences. It often made TEEN TITANS look creative.

LEGION OF SUPERHEROES was a superior show, although ended with Season 2. It overrelied on Superman.

this episode wasn't to bad, i mean it had action & suspense but what more can you ask for. i like the hulk & wolverine fighting off the windego's then wolverine shooting the windigo's, now that was so bada** i like to rewatch that part again. i dunno what else to say about it, but i just hope the quality picks right back up & we can have more animation goodness.

Can I get a pm as well? I thought this show didn't start till 09.

It doesn't in the US at least.

Nicktoons, January 23, 2009. Episodes 1 and 2 will be shown.

I liked this episode. I hope they do more cross-overs with other Marvel characters. Maybe the Avengers & Spidey. (well unless they'll use the New Avengers where's he on the team)

Is there any chance this is in the same world as Spectacular Spider-Man?

I don't think this counts as Spectacular canon.

However, I'm sure you could argue it doesn't if you point out there are no contradictions.

I think people thought Wolverine and The X-men was the same continuity as Hulk VS., however episode 7, this episode now on Nicktoons, contradicts what happened in Hulk VS.

Indeed. The same writers and producers, and even actors, worked on HULK VS. WOLVERINE as well as this episode and they insist it is canon, but if you watch episode #7, it contradicts a few things from HULK VS. rather plainly.

A cynic might note it is one example of the producers/writers having a premise they claim in interviews that isn't actually delivered in the episode itself.

But I just think it isn't a huge deal. As to what "world" WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN is in, I doubt it is part of the one in SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN, although "fusing" them would not be hard. I will say, though, with some of the same writers working on a future Avengers cartoon, it will be interesting to see where Scarlet Witch and even Beast are by, say, Season 3 of this show (Season 2 has been approved and I wouldn't be surprised if a third is approved soon after).

I'd love to see a spinoff series with the Avengers. We've already been introduced to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Perhaps a couple crossover episodes would be in order further down the track.

Perhaps by the time the movie comes out then an Avengers series would hopefully be likely.
