Old MCU Fantastic Four Discussion Thread

Fox ruined the good name of Fantastic Four. I'm curious how MCU would be able to fix this mess once they get the rights back.

I'm cautiously optimistic that perhaps now Fox will be more open to playing ball with Disney. Then again, they may just hold onto the rights so that Disney can't have them.

Also, I think Denzel Washington would make a fantastic (no pun intended) Reed Richards.

I'd establish the FF themselves via guest appearances/post credit scenes/etc in other films, then do a solo Doom movie. That's where we'd first see the origin in full only with Victor as the protagonist. (I'd keep as much to the classic 'Doom blames Richards for an accident in college' as possible). The rest of the film would deal with Victor-as-badass-antihero traveling the world and eventually conquering Latveria and becoming Dr. Doom.

THEN I do Fantastic Four, and even then I might use Mole Man instead just to piss everybody off :D (but serious: giant monsters!). But my goal would be to set Doom up as someone the audience kinda roots for, because he's awesome and super classy, but also feels guilty about it because at the end of the day he's a full tilt badguy, and as he comes into conflict with the FF (and later the Avengers!) that point will be hammered home.

I agree that Mole Man would be a good choice for a starter villain. Since they'd probably have to focus on establishing the team even without retelling the origin, I'd save Dr. Doom for the second film despite how much as I want to see him be done properly. Could still set him up before then though.

Plus, I think saving him for later could help avoid the "been there, done that" feeling that could arise with another reboot since he's been a threat in every FF film made so far.

Fox isn't giving Marvel this IP back. I predict that we will get a reboot when Fox reboots X-men, and at that point the two would exist in a shared universe.

-They should use some big name actors like Tom Cruise as Reed and Denzel Washington as Doom.
-Doom's origin should be separate from the FF and he should be established before they go into space.
-They should go into space using a craft created by Richards which can achieve orbit and return to Earth on its own.
-When they get into space (and this may be seen in flashbacks), their craft is pulled into a massive ship. After exiting their craft and exploring the vessel they find a chamber in which Galactus sits (a couple of hundred feet tall). The Silver Surfer explains that they will now serve as heralds to Earth and that Galactus will give them power.
-The Thing should be played by a man that is at least 6'5'' and utilize practical animatronics. He should also actually look like The Thing for once.
-Doctor Doom should have an actual exoskeleton armor in addition to having magnetokinesis and electrokinesis.
-Doom should be scared underneath the mask.
-The plot should revolve around The Skrull's infiltration of Earth and American gov't.
-Doom should be motivated to save (rule) the world.
-Silver Surfer should simultaneously receive a stand alone feature beside the rebooted X-men and FF.
-Doom should appear in a X-men spin-off (whether Wolverine, House of M, Storm, or Rogue).
-X-men vs FF could revolve around Kang.
-The second crossover should be the Age of Apocalypse (a version of AoA in which the FF do have their powers).

I'd love to see Doom debut in another film first.

Yeah I agree. I would have doctor doom (classic tyrant doom) turn up and fight the avengers and then see how that goes. If it's all dandy I would start the ff again marvel style

I always thought that MCU could set up Doom as their first solo Villain-oriented film. Has anyone here read Books of Doom? It was a great read, sounds like something MCU could pull off as a villain origin story.

I'd recommend it to anyone who didn't get the chance to read.

So, it seems to me that there is ample opportunity to include the Fantastic Four in the MCU...assuming Marvel acquires the rights within the next year or so.

Given that the two Infinity War films will likely be absolutely massive, there's plenty of room there to introduce the FF and touch on their origin. Hell, they could even tie the origin into the events of the films themselves.

Following Infinity War: Part II, you've got the Inhumans, a property with very close ties to Marvel's first family. They could easily be included in some capacity in that film, especially given that the Inhumans were introduced in the Fantastic Four comics. Plus, it would provide an effortless tie back to Earth.

At this point, the Four would be well established over several films in the MCU. Assuming the public has now warmed up to Marvel's rendition of the characters (and there's no reason to believe they wouldn't), Marvel would likely feel comfortable featuring the team in their own film in Phase 4. This would be the perfect place to introduce Doom!

Plus, just imagine the villains that Marvel would be able to use to cap off their next several phases!

End of Phase 4: Skrull Invasion (with Super Skrull!) or even just Doom
End of Phase 5: Kang the Conqueror
End of Phase 6: Galactus

The possibilities are endless.

Here's hoping Fox will do what's in everyone's best interest and make a deal!

at least we got a good soundtrack out of it

Rather than do a Secret Invasion as a whole Phase arc, it would make a good single FF movie premise and work in tandem with a Phase that ends with Avengers: Kree/Skrull War

Hallelujah, praise to the CBM gods! Please be true, please the true

But now it's apparently just a rumour again. Still. Surely Marvel got something in exchange for Fox getting the X-men TV rights.

Should the rights ever revert back to Marvel I do wonder if a F4 film would be the best route to go down. The brand as a film may have been irreversibly damaged and I think the concept is difficult to do without an origin story.

I'd quite like to see a Fantastic Four TV show. It could be Marvel's version of Doctor Who, with the family going to different planets and dimensions in monster of the week type adventures. SHIELD popping up every now and then ala UNIT.

And for cinema - Doctor Doom the movie. Marvel's first villain focused film. An origin story perhaps, of Doom rising to president of Latveria in the aftermath of the chaos Ultron caused in Eastern Europe.

it could work

That would be such a cool way to introduce the FF to the MCU a movie focused on Doom with the FF in the background. I think that is exactly something Marvel could use to change up the Superhero Genre

Even if not a movie, a Netflix Doom series would be a great way to build hype for a new F4 movie.

There is not the slightest chance in hell of Doom appearing on Netflix. It'd be just as expensive as doing an Iron Man netflix show.

Why? Doom's powers and magic stuff don't particularly demand any heavy CGI. Espically for an origin story in which he won't even have full powers until the final episodes.

Anyway, here goes my own personal plan for an MCU Fantastic Four.

Doom: A Netflix Original Series: Set in the late 60's, we see the origin of the Fantastic Four through the eyes of Victor Von Doom, heir to the throne of Latveria as he travels on his own journey. Besides Reed Richards and co., there's oppurtunities for cameos by the likes of Howard Stark, Peggy Carter, etc..., and roles for lesser known magical characters like Dr. Druid. Doom could even meet the Ancient One, if Tilda Swinton was willing to reprise the role. Series ends with Doom imprisoned and the F4 vanished.

Marvel's Fantastic Four

Directed by Brad Bird
Starring:

320x.jpg

Andrew Garfield: Reed Richards - Boy genius of the 60s, SHIELD's top scientest at age 25, the "original Tony Stark", vanished with his crew in 1969 while attempting to master inter-diminsional travel

326986184_Jane20Levy_IHA_000922_answer_9_xlarge.jpeg

Jane Levy: Sue Storm - Brilliant young biologist and daughter of the head of SHIELD Sciences, romantically involved with Reed Richards, joined Dr. Richards on his final mission with a purpose of studying and understanding any new lifeforms they might discover

41dtaPlYM4L._SY450_.jpg

Dylan O'Brien: Johnny Storm - Hot-headed younger brother of Sue Storm, kicked out of three of the world's top engineering schools for causing trouble, insisted on joining his sister as the team mechanic, (despite the role being made redundant by pilot Ben Grimm) when Dr. Victor von Doom dropped out of the mission.

245px-Glen_Powell_(cropped).jpg
Nonso-Anozie.jpg

Glen Powell or Nonso Anozi: Cpt. Benjamin Grimm - Childhood friend and social mentor to Dr. Reed Richards, the two parted ways in their late teens, with Reed leaving early for college and Ben joining the Air Force. Acieving numerous honors and promotions, he was handpicked by his old friend to serve as the mission's pilot.

CjV18jL8.jpg

Andrew Scott: Victor von Doom - Heir to the throne of Latveria, Victor made history by choosing to study abroad in a seeming gesture of good will between his homeland and America. A master of astronomy and quantum physics, he collaberated with Dr. Richards only to be forced out of SHIELD's programs by Dr. Franklin Storm,, due to his increasing interest in "unscientific arts" and infatuation with Dr. Storm's daughter. He disapeered, and shortly thereafter, a CIA-backed coup killed his father and took command of Latveria. And enraged Victor resurfaced on the day of the mission launch, assaulting SHIELD with new found powers before being captured. It is believed his attack caused the damage that caused the mission failure. The disaster was covered up as part of the space race, and the nation mourned the loss of four heroes. Dr. Storm resigned from SHIELD and disapeered. Victor von Doom has remained imprisoned in a SHIELD dark site ever since.

For 40 years, the truth about Dr. Richards' final mission has been kept a secret from the world. But in 2020, the Four are coming home.....

sounds good to me

Thread for ideas for F4 in the MCU.

The first one I would introduce the F4 in Reeds lab with his technology looking modern. We find out Reed invented most modern tech in the 60's. The F4 get word of something happening in Latveria and meet up with Hank Pym and Janet to investigate. Stuff goes down and the F4 end up getting stuck in a different dimension. Eventually they end up in modern day MCU but it wouldn't be typical what's this type of stuff as F4 would already be accustomed to modern day tech. I would make the main villain Mole-man and use a couple giant subterranean monsters and include hints to Doom.

I want to see the Mole Man and the molloids and that underground place (I forgot the name) for the first film. For the sequel, either the silver Surfer or Namor.

What's great about Ff, is I feel like their mythology is richer than the otherMarvel properties except for the X-Men and Spider-Man. Inhumans, Black Panther, Ronan, Ego are also Fantastic Four characters.

Reed Richards - Glenn Howerton

Sue Storm - Blake Lively

Johnny Storm - Zac Efron

Ben Grimm - Seth Rogan

Mole-man - Tom Hanks
