John Cena is a very funny actor. Don't think he'd be good as The Thing, but he's talented.

For a character like Ben, a wrestler can work as long as they have comedic timing. Sort of like Batista works for Drax. That said, Cena is a charming guy and is actually funny. I would worry he couldn't do the sadder elements of The Thing properly (not sure he has "This man, this MONSTER!" in him), but he would be good for the banter and all that. I can see him doing a bang up job in that regard.

Fancasting John Cena as Ben Grimm reminds me of when some fans were fancasting Rhonda Rhousey for Captain Marvel(ugh); which was always more because of her physique and less so for her acting chops(which are non-existent).

Rhonda Rousey was been bandied around for everything. Even she did it herself. She wanted to be Wonder Woman just because she was a fighter. She would've been an absolutely terrible choice. She should never go near a comic book movie unless she's just a near-silent henchwoman type like Gina Carano was in Deadpool.

Can only imagine how bad that could have been lol.

Yeah, I like Rhonda but she's a terrible actor when she's forced to do anything other than scowl and kick ass. She was AWFUL in that Expendables movie she was in.

Now John Cena is actually somewhat talented and funny. I'd be okay with him as Ben Grimm.

After seeing what Jenkins did with Gadot's chronically wooden self, I honestly can't say Rousey would have turned out any worse at all.

This is a good point, you can't really ask Cena to chew scenery showing his pain, you'd have to do a lot of that aspect of his pathos/story with direction and lighting and camera work and score and such. Not the worst idea, imho.

Exactly, or would have to do it like Gunn did with Drax in Guardians 2 (when he was remembering his daughter). He probably cannot give you the self-hating monologues, but have him look at his hands or something and just stare...put in some mood lighting, and people will be sad.

Get John Cena as someone like Sandman or Hydroman. Not Ben Grimm.

She also campaigned to be Captain Marvel if I'm not mistaken. :hehe:

Somebody like Ben calls for more range. Even in the comics, Drax was portrayed as oblivious

I, uh, just pictured Cena as Gaiman’s Sandman...

Well obviously that's the one we meant

Sometimes I'm glad that Marvel doesn't listen to fan casting....

I am okay with the current thoughts of Krazinski (sp?)-Blunt as the two main leads, but i have a really weird one for Ben Grimm

Liev Shriever...

checks all the boxes, and I think he would nail the Thing, given his performance as Sabertooth showing he had some range they never really let him use in that...
Besides, far more believable as him being a member of the Yancy Street Gang as a youth.

Genndy Tartakovsky was on the front page discussing his work on IM2 and said he'd be down to direct an MCU flick if they came knocking. Perfect timing. :o

Blunt doesn't want in on CBMs at the moment while Krasinski seems eager to work with Marvel again. I wonder how that will work out. It bodes well for me since I don't want Blunt to play Sue while I think Krasinski would be great

... though on the subject of Medusa, my hope is that the Inhumans TV show will soon be forgotten and they can re-introduce them properly in an FF film at some point.

I’ve often wondered that. How long does something have to lie dormant before you can do a soft reboot and slide the character back into the world, hopefully better?

I definitely would love to see new versions of Amadeus, madame masque and even iron fist

They do sometimes. Chris Evans for example.

I’ll never forget the time Jon favreau asked for suggestions for who should play pepper and all these people started posting supermodels and porn stars though

So I am sometimes also glad

I think in the specific case of Inhumans, so few people saw it and it was so forgettable that it would be pretty easy to simply ignore it.

Iron fist would be a little tougher because he had his own show, then he was in Defenders and now it looks like he'll be featured in the next season of Luke Cage.

But still, in either case, if the characters (portrayed by different actors) showed up in a Marvel film at some point, I think most viewers would be willing to accept it and move on.

Someone who is good a Photoshop...

GET ON THAT.

What if Marvel decided to dump the FF on television and give it to Jeph Loeb and co. like they did with Inhumans and just brought X-Men to the big screen?
