Old MCU Fantastic Four Discussion Thread

Just had a thought: Kevin Feige is a big Rick And Morty fan. Rick and Morty deals heavy in the same Sci-Fi tropes as FF. Time travel, multiverse, intergalactic space exploration. Feige already got Dan Harman(the creator of Rick and Morty) to do some punch-up for Doctor Strange and there is a former Rick & Morty writer that’s the showrunner for She-Hulk.

Yeah, I know Rick and Morty is basically a Back To The Future rip-off but it does a lot of really unique and grand things that really set it apart from BTTF. Wouldn’t surprise me if Feige uses that series as inspiration.

What do yall want the suits to look like? Personally, I been looking through suit concept art for Ant Man and Endgame Hulk and I think something similar to those would look cool. Slightly baggy but still form fitting. Blue obviously.

style and color scheme a side for a moment... here's my question about uniforms

second skin theory (exposed to same thing that gave them their powers) therefor naturally adapted to their powers?
vs
designed after the fact to function with their powers ?

Designed by Reed to help his friends adapt to what they can do.

It just makes more sense to me.

I don't know if I would count on Feige consciously making the decision to model or bring some R&M concepts (Some of which, like the Council of Ricks are direct homages to things that originated in comic books like the Council Of Kangs and the Councel of Reeds...) into a MCU FF...

But I had NEVER thought about Harmon himself possibly getting involved, either as a writer, director or producter... And now I'm VERY interested in the idea.

Very.

Before anyone brings it up... Yes... Harmon's comedy is prickly to say the least and Rick is the "Anti-Reed" as a character.

Still... Harmon knows comedy which is UBER important to MCU films and the most hardcore fanbase (for some ****ing reason... ) of the franchise. And he is a good creative mind with a track record and a distinctive voice who could bring a lot to the table for the FF.

I'm sure a lot of fans would disagree, but when you brought him up right now a lightbulb went off.

He may be too busy with R&M and the new deal he signed last month with FOX Entertainment. But Harmon is a wonderful storyteller and has an existing relationship with Feige and company after having worked on Dr. Strange.

The MCU FF iteration really has to distance itself from the prior weak sauce entries. So I would love to see Harmon get first crack at the script and get schwifty with the First Family

For uniforms, I'd like to see a loose-fitting flight-suit as the starting point.

Superhero uniforms are starting to seem too familiar. I'm getting a little tired of the "Wet-suit with crap added on to it" look and I'd like to see something a little different.

Fant4stic's uniforms weren't the same old schtick. Dr Doom wore a trash bag, Johnny Storm had some stereo speakers on his chest, Reed had springs and Ben had crap with more crap added onto it.

Kind of like the Alex Ross designs?

They're fitted, but not skin-tight.

Close, but I'd make them a little looser still and eliminate some of the details. Clean and simple would contrast with most of what we're seeing these days,

I think this would be as loose as they'd want to make it. They seem very attached to the skin-tight thing, which I get because that look is what's associated with superheroes.

But I think the FF should be different. They're not superheroes, so maybe they shouldn't have the skin-tight superhero look.

I could see something close to Captain America's first costume. A tough, functional denim type as opposed to leather/rubber.

Fantastic Four is the one team whose suits should feel somewhat slick and futuristic, though. It's often specifically mentioned that Reed created their costumes to suit their complex individual needs. Reed should wear something that looks good while stretching and Johnny something that looks like it works even when on fire.

Workingva Fox Ent. contract, technically means Harmon is already part of the Disney family so...

I’m of the opinion that Ben Grimm is the hardest to get right casting wise and even though I have never seen this Jeff Wilbusch act in anything but I do think he looks the part. Only issue with him is he lacks the rockman’s piercing blue eyes but I like his look for Ben pre-transformation.

Does anyone think the old theme from the Story films should be retained for the MCU FF? I thought it was decent.

It sounds like a version of the pub song "Roll out the barrel" in a minor key.

If they want to retain it, they should now play it in a major key.

I like the theme, but it's not iconic like the 90s X-Men cartoon theme and it's not too good to change.
They could easily create a new and better one.

Doctor Doom with the Infinity Gauntlet concept art from the former co-head of visual development at Marvel Studios!

Looks awesome, and makes you wonder how the MCU would play out had they had access to Victor earlier before development had begun on Infinity War and Endgame. I love Doom, and I’m endlessly curious to know what Marvel will do with him now that they finally have him back.
