Does anybody here like the idea of Naomi Scott as Sue Storm? I think she would fantastic(no pun intended).

But there is no universe where Witwer can get a marvel role. I mean, he wasnt good enough to carry even a full season of Supergirl. I liked him but he never really pushs his career forward in my attention.

She works for me.

Would you dye her hair? I'm afraid that might look kind of goofy, but I think there will be an angry contingent if she's not blonde.

It's not really that important that she be blonde and like you said it would probably look bad. I think if you racebend a character there's little point in clinging to their original hair colour unless it's somehow integral to their character.

If it's Naomi Scott as Sue, maybe Mena Massoud as Johnny. :o

If Jessica Alba looked bad with her blonde hair and blue contacts, then Naomi Scott would look even worse. Of course, Jessica's blonde was different to the blonde she had later where it wasn't so bright but looked more natural.

I suppose she could always borrow one of Kate Mara's wigs from Fant4stic.

I remember when people were upset that Chris Evans wasn't blonde enough, but to me, that's a minor detail.

Realistically people just don't have the kind of bright yellow hair Johnny and Sue had in the comics unless they bleach it.

Eh, I’m not sure that’s needed. Blonde hair has been less of a defining physical trait for the character than Mary Jane’s red hair was for her. I only care about acting talent and whether the actress can capture the spirit of the character so actor having to dye their natural hair color in order to adhere to the hair color of a comic character character they’re playing has never been a massive must for me.

I mean, I’m sure there was an angry contingent that took umbrage with the fact Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock didn’t have his trademark red hair, and that’s for a character that they didn’t even race-swap.

Has anyone brought up Samara Weaving? She'd make a great Sue.
She kind of looks like she could be Margot Robbie’s twin sister. :o

Which is funny since Margot Robbie was up for the role of Sue in Fan4stic.

fair enough... if they play around with race for Sue/Johnny (which btw should be a package deal not just, one or the other, again) don't try to still make them look blonder/ lighter skinned/ blue eyed, kinda defeats the point of a race change

I mean that's more of a "white wash" then just keeping them all white

I think Reed would be the prime character to race swap if they were going to go that route with any of the team. Whomever plays the Thing is going to be CGI 99% of the time so what would be the point? Race swapping Sue and Johnny doesn't feel like it would be that significant to me for some reason.

Having the most intelligent man on Earth being presented as black or Hispanic strikes me as something that would resonate in this current climate.

I'd be okay with Samara Weaving, especially if she's like a less expensive Margot Robbie. Margot would've been great for Sue, but she's probably too expensive now and also tied up with Harley Quinn.

It was done well in BOP

Hair dye exists. WOC dye their hair. WOC can have blonde hair. Naomi Scott has a parent who is white so if she played Sue, that's an in. Or not, maybe Sue just dyed her hair

That's why I think Reed is the most likely. You change Sue, you change Johnny. Grimm is an orange rock monster. Reed's changing would be the easiest as well as the most meaningful

Heck, you have people like Neil Degrasse Tyson who in a way could be a model or inspiration for the MCU. It would fairly believable that one of smartest dudes in the Marvel universe is a POC.

but they weren't trying to pass her off as being a natural blond

an she wouldn't exactly be the best example, as Black Canary is a character who is defined by her blond/yellow hair like a yellow canary bird, who wears mostly black
in fact early versions of the character naturally had dark hair, but would wear a wig or dye it blond to fit the theme

Sue and Johnny are not defined by being blond haired/ blue eyed (other then to give them a matching unison look to further show family relation) which just happens to be blond as their natural hair color... I just think anyone they cast (especial if of another race) should also use their natural hair color (and yes Sue and Johnny should preferable still match) Johnny I could see having a little more leeway as he seems like the type who might use unnatural hair colors to express him self

but, yes, ideally if they keep them white, try to find someone with natural/ or at-least could pull off the, blond hair without looking unnatural on them...

heavens I would hate to think what would happen if you mess with doctor doom’s doodle

What about Dev Patel for Reed?
Ooh, I like this casting a lot but I also want to suggest another Indian actor by the name of Rahul Kohli. He’s in IZombie and he plays a medical examiner and I think he could pull off enough the intelligent aloof genius pretty well, imo.

love these ideas. Rahul has been my fave choice for Reed for ages!

I don't know what he looks like in different photos, but he kind of looks like an Indian version of John Krasinski.

He was in a couple of episodes of Supergirl as well and I like him, but I can't see him as Reed or leading a franchise.
