I could certainly live with that trade-off. She-Hulk joining the FF was such a bold move for the comics that, iconic as it is, the MCU might not have time to really commit to. I'm sure we'll get team-ups and Jen & Sue enjoying cocktails, but I'd wager they focus on the core family. Jen will have her own show anyway, so robust characterization will hopefully take priority to matching the group shots from the comics.

It actually makes sense for Sue and Jen to get together, and I’m not just thinking about Jen showing up in FF, but Sue being introduced in She-Hulk.

Think about the characters in the current MCU and those we know who are coming. Other than her cousin and maybe Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson (and who knows what’s goingbon with those characters) there aren’t many that would make sense being in JW’s social circle.

But presumably Sue will be a NYC resident and professional (maybe an actress or maybe something else), and it would make sense that Sue and Jen could be friends.

If they’re looking for a good place to introduce Sue prior to the accident, She Hulk could be perfect.

BP2 is going to have its own hurdles trying to step out of boseman's shadow, no need to saddle it with doom

i think world building doom around the other stuff works better. rumors of latveria in wandavision, possible dr strange 2 seeding, maybe zemo's sokovia being destroyed caused regional instability and that seeds revolution in latveria for doom to rise, etc. or maybe they just do him from square one in F4, who knows

I think the fact that Marvel named these countries Wakanda and Sokovia and Latveria opens up the argument that Boseman wasn’t Wakandan and Bruhl Sokovian because those places are fictional. This only makes it permissible to cast Doom in a more flexible way. I get the points you are making - Romani people aren’t simply European there are myriads of varieties of Europeans such as Scandinavians, Mediterranean’s, etc. To ignore this would be narrow minded and disrespectful. However even if they cast a Romani in the role, portraying Doom with negative stereotypes is worse than casting a non Romani and portraying the character in a culturally sensitive way. Besides I think the character of Doom transcends stereotypes about culture and he is the villain that ultimately inspired George Lucas to come up with Anakin/Vader

While a great actor. I'd feel like he'd succumb to the "oh my God that's Seth Rogen" trope that those like RDJ, Samuel J, and Pratt suffer in the MCU.

And yes I understand that he'll be the thing at some point. But that just leaves his voice and acting which isn't exactly what I imagine Grimm to be.

May I suggest Vincent Donofrio from Daredevil. They don't seem to be casting him as anything else so why not bring him back for an all new role.

except Grimm would be a career defining role for him that will be forever linked with him... the same way it’s next to impossible to see RDJ and not think Tony Stark. I truly think Seth Rogen can pull it off and own the role

My current MCU FF fan cast:

Reed: John David Washington
Sue: Lily James
Johnny: Dacre Montgomery
Ben: Seth Rogen

Mole Man is my choice for the first film's villain. In which case, Jack Black is my choice.

I'd don't have a choice for Doom. I'm hoping that they pluck some unknown actor from Europe like they did with Tom Hiddleston. Ideally from Eastern Europe for that extra bit of authenticity.

Going the comedic actor route for Mole Man could be a big mistake. At least someone who can do drama a bit better. Jack Black would have been great for MODOK. Or even Mojo. His personality matches them.

Mole Man needs to be someone you can take seriously. I don’t think we should waste a great actor that could play a top tier villain like a Magneto or Doom for this role but they should still be quite capable.

I nominate Golden Globe winner and character actor Tony Shalhoub for the role of Mole Man

I think Steve Carell would do a great job as well but he needs to be heavily make upped like in the pic below to cover up his distinctive face. Imagine a Jim Halpert Reed fighting his old boss lol

Jennifer Walters makes sense given her long standing ties to the FF and the fact that Ms. Maslany has already been cast in the role. We don't know when or even if the Royal Family will make their (official) MCU debut, so Crystal and Medusa may be off the table. I could see Jen and Sue being old college chums.

THIS. Frakkin Love the idea of Sue and Jennifer becoming friends/confidantes

Bull****. Homecoming was critically acclaimed and FFH was even more so. And the first Spider-Man film to crack 1 billion WW. If anything moving him on to F4 is a blessing. He seems to do better with the campy family style anyways.

he’s the John Hughes of our generation- he knows how to do a family movie about a family with all the dynamics that make portraying a family real and relatable. We saw glimpses of that with Peter and Mysterio- relationship building/mentorship even though it was very brief. Visually I think he is improving as a director. JJ Abrams’ visual style can be very distracting but he is probably a better fit to direct some cosmic character like Nova or Silver Surfer

I want to see an impending showdown between Rogen as Grimm/Thing and Ruffalo’s Banner in human form teasing a rubber match

I agree. I think Seth Rogen could own the role and bring the right qualities to Ben Grimm. He also already has the voice. Listen to him in this interview

He has that gruffness to his voice and can easily do the humour that is needed for Grimm. The self-deprecating humour is an absolute must. But he also has enough range to do the dramatic side as well.

I'd personally like Rick Hoffman in the role:

Not only does he look exactly like Moleman, but he can bring the necessary pathos, bitterness and anger to the role. And he can easily do comedy if needed, or at least biting sarcasm if they don't want to just be full humour. He's also shorter so would be a good height for the character.

There's a risk it could turn out similar to the 2005 film. Do you want that?

Always disliked this idea. It makes the FF seem to be an offshoot or subsidiary of the Avengers. They should be their own team that are equals to the Avengers. It's also why I hate the idea of Tony or SHIELD having anything to do with the team.
I got the feeling they will later take over the same tower for their headquarters and alter the logo outside. Just a feeling though

I respect your opinion but I’m inclined to believe they’ll make Reed and others affiliated with a preexisting organization in the MCU like S.W.O.R.D or Shield pre-accident, and throughout the course of the film they’re funded by Sword until the end when Reed and the team decide to cut ties with the organization and become an independent self-financed operation like they are in the comics. Frankly, I think it’s fairly unlikely they won’t tie the MCU FF’s creation to something that we already know like they tied their version of Spider-Man with Iron Man. It won’t make or break the movie for me since I don’t think it’ll be a blasphemous betrayal of the source material if they go in that route.

The FF won't be SWORD or SHIELD. They'll all be former Stark employees.

I don't think that with a lot of the things in those movies. I think it lacks the personal and/or raw emotional aspect a lot, from what I remember, of those, and that the movies barely hit the John Hughes notes, for the most part, and not in many instances.

I think you nailed it. 100% This should be the only choice going forward. I strongly suspect “Rick Hoffman” is a stage name and front for his true identity as a ruler of the subterranean empire that lives beneath our metropolises.

If they go the Blast From The Past route which I highly suspect Watts will, they will be celebrities who ended up getting stuck in the Negative Zone. Reed Richards is simply too big to be under anyone’s organization. Even Stark. He would be a rival to Stark probably one of the few in the MCU that can even surpass Stark in terms of his intellect and resourcefulness.

If Norman Osborne can be his own corporation you can bet that Richards sure as shootin can.

Can you imagine what a teaser trailer will do to this place? I feel that something is coming soon...once they name a director you ALREADY know the casting news shortly follows. Expect MASSIVE reveals in the next few weeks! I would watch interviews and the social media accounts of John Krasinski and others very closely for any hints.

The clock starts ticking now, even if the film is to the back of the slate. A really good trailer will send us all into meltdown. What a day that will be in Hype history.

I thought this too but if it’s Alicia you risk that all they do when they get together is talk about what a hot piece of ass Ben is lol

Alicia Masters could be more fleshed out though in the MCU. She’s blind & she’s romantically involved with Ben Grimm at some point—other than that, Watts, Feige & co. can go nuts making her an interesting character. At least one who can spend her screentime talking about more than Ben’s “hot piece of ass.” :o:oldrazz:

Norman Osborne might be a Stark employee too and not his own separate corp.

It wouod make more sense for the Stark tower to become Oscorp than the Baxter Building anyway. I doubt itll remain an avengers base.
