Old MCU Fantastic Four Discussion Thread

yeah byrne's age gap thing is def not applicable for a modern adaptation lol

you could slide it a bit where they could've met while she was in college and he was racking up one of his PhDs, so it'd be roughly a ~10 year gap which is fine.

isaac would be a decent reed, but i think he's TOO suave/cool for reed. i said it before in an earlier F4 casting thread, whomever they get to be reed, he needs to have that warmth/fatherly/professory kind of vibe. basically late 90s/2000s tom hanks archetype

Why so obsessed with age? Lily is so young looking, they could age her up or down. It’s not like you need a 22 year old actress to play a 22 year old role

We are definitely getting too hung up on this. It was certainly an issue when Jessica Alba and Chris Evans were visibly the same age, which fudged their big-sister/little-brother dynamic, but Marvel's been overwhelmingly on-the-ball with their casting.

I expect we'll see several characters at different ages via flashbacks as the story unfolds. And they have de-aging FX now, so nothing to worry about.

I doubt Marvel will waste money on deaging technology when they can just cast an age appropriate actress and save millions of dollars

It’s literally a bit of makeup. Doesn’t cost thousands unless you’re deaging someone from 80 to 20 or something

On a different note, I think that Fantastic Four would be the ideal place to introduce SWORD. Between Captain Marvel, X-Men, and the F4, they're a group with a lot of potential for the future of the MCU.

Brennan Brown as Henry Peter Gyrich - Gyrich is a great addition for the MCU, basically serving as the "anti-Coulson", popping up in everyone's movies not to support or bring together the heroes, but because of his vendetta against metahumans and aliens.

Rick Hoffman as Dr. Harvey Elder - Tasked with caring for and studying the captured extraterrestrial life-forms, the bitter, mistreated Dr. Elder will become the Fantastic Four's first foe.

Timothy Hutton as Philippe Beaulieu - This alias of the notorious "Master of the World" would be introduced as the head of SWORD, before his true identity is revealed, setting him up to face down Captain Marvel in her sequel movie.

I would love to see sword introduced in captain marvel, if not the first one then the sequel. I mean, it makes sense after earth’s first alien invasion to put stuff in place to guard against the second.

Then getting introduced in an FF movie wouldn’t be bad but it’s a lot to introduce in a movie with four leading stars already. Plus I think Abigail Brand is an intriguing foil for Carol

Hey I’ve been searching for more Jewish, age appropriate jock type actors for the Thing. These two have come from Broadway so they’re semi established actors. What do you think of

Bryan Rosenberg

Or Ben Rosenfield

Yeah it makes more sense to introduce them in Captain Marvel (a solo hero film) than in Fantastic Four (a team movie).

Gyrich can be introduced individually in any film like Coulson. He can be in Avengers (he did impose the 6 member rule on them) or X-Men or anywhere really. Would've been cool if he even encountered Coulson.

The only one from that list I want to see in FF is Harvey Elder/ Moleman. And Rick Hoffman is the perfect candidate for the role.

My thought was that SWORD would make sense to be connected to the Four. Where they get introduced mostly depends on what gets released first: Fantastic Four or Captain Marvel 2. But with either version we've discussed to introduce them, it makes sense. If they go the "time lost" route, SWORD would obviously be the ones to pick them up upon arrival. If we do a present day origin, it would make sense for Reed to be working for them.

This is just my personal opinion but I think they’d be making a big mistake by not casting Keanu Reeves as Silver Surfer and giving him his own franchise.

If you want a Superhero Squad type Silver Surfer, then yeah, cast Keanu as the character. If you don't want a surfer dude type, then there are better candidates out there and it wouldn't be a mistake at all.

Your view of Keanu Reeves is very outdated. His recent work speaks for itself. John Wick’s cool demeanor is literally perfect for Norrin Radd.

Wouldn’t mind Taika pulling double duty as the surfer if it means pairing him up with Jemaine Clement as Galactus.

“Hey man, I’m the silver surfer. I’m like a herald and I’m here to tell you that your world is about to be devoured.”

Keanu as the Surfer would be AMAZING

And if he doesn’t play Surfer he should be Metron. He has the perfect voice for it. I could honestly see him doing a good job with Brainiac as well.

He’s come a looooong way since Point Break and Bill and Ted. Sadly he’s still so associated with those roles that people underestimate him. But especially in this decade, Keanu has really reinvented himself as a bonafide badass. John Wick is literally one of the few original characters from this decade that could reach iconic status.

Im liking the 60s prequel idea more and more. SHIELD team on a mission that goes bad trying to stop Doom they end up trapped in the negative zone along with Doom. The snap damages reality and opens up the negative zone. we could get cameos from a young Hank and Janet.Howard Stark. SHIELD. Etc.

Jonny Lee Miller as the Surfer. Then... Almost all Sherlocks in one place.

Keanu would be amazing. For some reason I could easily see a metallic version of him jetting around the stars and the interrupted by Eric Idle and the old lady from Monty Python and the meaning of life singing the galaxy song lol
