Ha yeah same.

And if there was a choice between Krasinski and Issac I would choose Issac. Especially if there’s a dancing scene

I think its important that the actor cast for Johnny Storm is a believable age to play opposite Peter Parker because you know once MCU gets the FF and Torch/Spidey team-up is not far behind!

All the fan-casting is fun, but at the end of the day I hope Marvel goes with relatively unknown actors or ones we've never thought of.
The fan-casts for Johnny especially shows how limited they can be (the majority choose actors that are too old like Zac Efron). Even my top pick of Dacre Montgomery is mainly because of my limited knowledge of actors around Tom Holland's age.

Holland is my favourite Spider-Man and he was relatively unknown, so I'm excited to be surprised by Marvel's choices. Marvel has been great with their casting so I have faith in them. But I stand by David Harbour being an awesome choice for Ben and I doubt they'll find better than him.

I still don’t like Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. I really wish they stuck with Emily Blunt.

Blunt lost the role because she had signed a contract with Fox, which studio rather maliciously forced her to be in that Jack Black Gulliver movie in order to prevent her from working with Marvel. There was no way that Marvel Studios could delay its plans just because an actress wasn't available. It turned out to be a lucky break for Natasha fans like myself because Scarlett has been wonderful in the role. :yay:

After the Gulliver debacle, Marvel offered Blunt the role of Peggy Carter, which she turned down when the studio wisely convinced Chris Evans to play Captain America instead of the completely unsuitable Krasinski. This was another lucky break since it allowed the delightful Hayley Atwell to play a kickass Agent Carter on both the big and small screen. :ilv:

Marvel has dodged that Blunt bullet twice. Hopefully, the streak will continue along with the Krasinski shutout. I have nothing against them as people, but there isn't a single role in the MCU that I can imagine them playing.

On second thought, I take that back. Krasinski would be the perfect Paste Pot Pete, while Blunt could carry off Thundra with aplomb. (I really do want to see the Frightful Four at some point so I'll take whatever Marvel wants to give me.)

I wouldn't go as far as you, but I'd be just so indifferent if Marvel announced Krasinkski and Blunt as Reed and Sue.

Would I be against them joining the MCU sometime in the future? No, not really. I do like John Krasinkski quite a bit but I don't want him to play Reed Richards.

Quiet Place completely sold me on Krasinski. He can play both the nerdy modern 616 Reed and the confident, adventurous leader from the Kirby era.

New poster here, glad to say this is my first stop. Love the Fantastic Four and can't wait for them to finally be given their just due! MCU would have never been complete without the first family. They're just too integral to the Marvel Universe.

Welcome to the hype and welcome home Fantastic Four!

As I said, they're undoubtedly nice people but I'm not interested in them for any role I care about. Blunt's charisma-free turn as a failed manic pixie dream girl in The Adjustment Bureau soured me on her in anything other than a cold action role (Looper, Edge of Tomorrow). Nothing I've seen her in has ever convinced me that she can portray a full range of emotions. It's easy to imagine her being a physically and emotionally tough character, and that is something I'd like to see added to Sue's persona. Unfortunately, however, Blunt seems less apt at portraying caring and sensitivity.

As for Krasinski, he came far too close to being cast as Captain America for my comfort. I was convinced that would be a disaster and remain so to this day. He might be good as Reed, but I have my doubts that he could convincingly handle the science fiction scientist shtick as well as RDJ, Mark Ruffalo and the adorably precocious Letitia Wright. In contrast to Blunt, he seems too soft and squishy to play the cerebral, often aloof and sometimes off-puttingly brilliant Dr. Richards.

I'm totally with you there. I like the movies I've seen Emily Blunt in, but I'm just not big on her as an actress.

I like Krasisnki, but I don't see him as Reed.

My personal picks for Dr. Richards are Oscar Isaac, Adrien Brody or Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I'm all-in for Isaac. He would nail both the dedicated, sometimes obsessed scientist and the pioneering adventurer aspects of Reed's persona. Isaac also has the sort of charisma that would give Reed a charm that the previous portrayals lacked. Johnny would still be the rock star of the group, but Reed has to be able to lead not only the FF but the MCU's scientific community as a whole. He is the smartest person in the room, after all.

Matt Smith is another good choice imo

I have talked with my buddy about this before and my contention is that there is indeed something to Smith's Doctor that could translate well into Reed. That sense of wonder at the universe that the Doctor has is an aspect I really believe is shared with Reed Richards. Also the confidence of his intellect as well as his emotional control being his most powerful weapons. In my view Reed is the type of person that even without his powers could probably waltz right into CIA HQ, liberate whatever info he wanted to, waltz out, and no one would be the wiser. But it's not enough for Reed to just be an imperiously overwhelming genius of a man. There has to literally also be a near infectious ( to the audience ) passion for discovery and exploration. There's gotta be some type of charisma and warmth there that would make a person watching go, "Sure it's crazy, but yeah if this guy asked ME to go on a ride in his self built space ship, I'd go too." Smith I think can deliver that.

:hehe: Matt Smith and Lily James. Now that's a real life couple that I can get behind as Reed and Sue

I'd be cool with it :woot:

Perfect age range, charisma, charm, humor and would nail the science stuff with Reed. He'd be a great choice to be one of the faces of the MCU going forward.

I would really love to see a jewish actor play the thing. That’s one of the things I’m most excited about

I think that's part of the reason a lot of people like the idea of Seth Rogen as Thing. I'm not sure how he'd be truthfully and I'd only really want him for Ben if Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Reed since they'd have chemistry and already played best friends twice. Not to mention they're friends in real life.

It’s because I only really know him from The Crown but Smith is totally Von Doom to me. The stony features, the air of superiority and aristocratic flair, the low mum of his voice how well he plays the the highs and lows of a man’s pride solidify him as a candidate.

I gotta imagine Doom is more appealing a role than Richards.

Plus he reminds me of young Ralph Fiennes, who, circa the mid-90’s, feels like the platonic ideal for Doom.

Check out his WHO. He's totally different while still being able to deliver gravitas when necessary.

Oh I just don’t think so. He just looks so much like a kid.

Reed I could see because we know Matt smith can ramble scientific sounding words and make it sound believable without being bored. But doom? Doom is a tank

Smith is talented and could probably pull it off but, he's not quite Doom to me either. Though to be fair, at least for a film, while the actor is important, most especially how he registers via his voice, let's be honest... The armor is what will do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of presence. Like with Vader before the last scene in ROTJ I think the best thing they could do is keep Doom in his armor most of the time on screen. Give the man under an aura of mystique. Don't "humanize" him immediately by showing us his face in flash backs or the like. Don't let us "get to know" Doom as we would other characters. "He is Doom" is all we need to know and his actions speak for him. I don't think he needs build up, he needs to be imperious and imposing from the jump. Again, like Vader that visual is what has got to be nailed from the start.

I think the approach to Doom is to embrace the over the topness, rather than emphasizing a "grounded" approach, though he needs a bit of that. But that, in my view would deal with his time before he put the suit on. I would make him like a romanticized revolutionary like Che or Mandela. That's what the world would think of him as. He's a faceless revolutionary that marshaled his country's down trodden to over throw a dictatorship. I would have it that even then his mystique is based on his facelessness. He wears something to hide that single scare he received in the accident Reed saved him in and he wears some type of simple mask to cover himself due to his vanity and does so throughout the struggle to take back Latveria. It's AFTER that he seals the country and puts the suit on and the underlying megalomania and messianic self image become apparent. Thus the armor projects the inner indomitable will and strength of character that makes Doom the ultimate super villain in the Marvel universe (Sorry Thanos). And that needs to come off as it never has before, in live action in the MCU.

That's why I don't think the "look" of the actor really matters for Doom. It's more what they can project with their line readings and the dialog written for the character. I would keep Doom's face under wraps probably until at least a third FF film if then. Hell even if you do a flash back keep his face off camera I say.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. I can totally picture Rogen's voice reading Ben's lines.

I had an idea of the first movie/episode starting with a profile of the Four on the news (pre-getting their powers). In it we would likely see Ben shaking hands with Captain America (Brooklyn Bros!) during a publicity tour, and of course Reed interacting with Tony in some way, to quickly fold the team's backstory into the existing MCU.
