I‘m also absolutely in for Adam Driver - great actor with powerful and intimating voice...but the role is too similar to Kylo Ren.
I doubt Adam wants to be the masked villain with superpowers for another 10 years

IMO if Marvel Studios changes anybody's race on F4, it'll be Reed. Making the smartest person in the Marvel Universe a POC would be a much more powerful statement to make than changing Ben Grimm whose skin is going to be covered in pounds of rock anyway

Reed's changing is the one I could see happening if this movie is set in the 2020s

The backlash will be insane, yet fun to see. Kids that have never read a FF book in their life will go off the rails.

You're saying they're going to accuse Marvel of white washing the character in the comics?

Is that what people think of classic Nick Fury now?

I'm warming up to the idea of Oscar Isaac playing Reed. Not really keen on them being race-swapped, but that wouldn't bother me.

They'll find a way. Reed has already been white three times in live action.

This is technically true, but Judaism is two things - it's a religion and it's an ethnic group. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee were both Jewish kids from NY city and with all the interest in diversity in the MCU, I think it's a shame that we don't have someone to represent the two people who created Marvel as we know it ( who were members of an oppressed minority when they were growing up ).

Being Jewish in 2020 isn't really the same as being Jewish in 1930, but I still think if the ethnicity of one character in the FF is maintained, it should be Ben, because his ethnicity wasn't just randomly pulled from a hat like many comic characters.
I certainly understand where you’re coming from but have any the actor’s who played Ben actually been Jewish? As far as I know neither Chikilis or Bell were Jewish. If they cast another gentile white actor in the role wouldn’t that also not count for not representing Stan and Jack’s ethnicity. Are you saying you want an actual ethnic white Jewish actor in the role as opposed to another gentile playing the role in any race, but what of the mixed raced black people who are have ethnic Jewish ancestry?

Do you guys have any picks for Doom? I hope they stay true to Victor's Romani heritage and find an unknown, talented romani actor out there who could play him, BUT, finding someone who's handsome, romani, perfect for Victor look wise, AND talented enough to play him for around a decade is a very rare scenario.

Hopefully there's someone out there perfect for the role. If Marvel can't find that someone, then Cillian Murphy is my pick.

Yes.

Isaac would kill it as Reed and bring a lot to the character. Isaac for Reed and Murphy for Doom would have me so incredibly hyped.

I have no idea who would make a good Sue to Isaac's Reed though. Charlize Theron? Mackenzie Davis could still work if they cast Isaac.

It bothered me last year (as I'm sure many will remember) but I've come around to the idea. I do think Reed with the position/importance he has is a good way for Marvel to lead with a diverse casting

Especially if the movie is set in 2023-2024. Ben being black would be redundant/pointless and not count for meaningful rep

Charlize looks good but she's about four years older than he is, and Sue is supposed to kinda be like five or ten years younger than him.

I'm still on that Anne Hathaway train for Sue Storm-Richards. Save Charlize for the mutants so she can be Emma Frost.

Dacre Montgomery is also still Johnny in my head.

Davis is 8 years younger than Isaac, so it would work. Agree about Charlize. I would just like to see her in the MCU at some point, haha.

Oh, crap, yeah.

I'm going with

Oscar Isaac - Reed

Anne Hathaway - Sue

Ross Lynch - Johnny

Joel Edgerton - Ben

Cillian Murphy - Doom

Doom shouldn't be the villain in the first film though.

I don't think a blonde Anne Hathaway looks all that great. She's tried it once. She looks better as a brunette. But I don't want Sue as a brunette. She's also 37, which is older than what they'd probably even be going for with Reed.

Not necessarily. Oscar Isaac is 41, JGL is 39 and Krasinski is 40.

Richard Ayoade is my favorite out-of-box casting choice to play Reed in the MCU. He would definitely bring a lot of eccentric & quirky flavor to his version, which I think it would be a nice change of pace from the bland, nerdy milquetoast dude from the previous versions.

MCU Reed should be like a superhero version of Neil DeGrasse Tyson — He’d be a fun know-it-all as opposed a dull stick-in-the-mud from the comics who could always make a science lecture a blast to listen to. He’d be funny, quirky, and make science cool instead of putting you to sleep.

I think Reed needs a bit of reinvention in the MCU much like MCU Tony Stark got his personality reinvented in order to make him more appealing. An actor cast as Reed needs to be to that character like Robert Downey Jr. was to Iron Man, and be that defining portrayal that reinvents the role. I think Ayoade can pull it off.

I don't think Ayoade can actually act though. He's a comedian, not a dramatic actor and I think he's said as much himself. I'll say the same thing I say when I see him suggested for Doctor Who - you've got to have more than a quirky comedic shtick for the role of Reed Richards.

I think if they make Reed more like Doc Savage than the Professor from Gilligan's Island, he'd already be more appealing. They should stop with the weak and nerdy portrayals.

In Star Trek 2009, Kirk was meant to have an exceptional IQ but underachieved because of the fact that he had become directionless since he lost his father. They can make Reed more Kirk-like, but combined with some Spock qualities.

I was on the Ethan Peck train for Reed before, but after seeing him as Spock I'm not so sure. When watching Star Trek Discovery Season 2 I thought Anson Mount as Pike was more like Reed than Ethan Peck was. But Mount is too old for the part now. But you need someone with that kind of Kirk/Pike bravado and starship Captain leadership quality.

I often find comedic actors are actually surprisingly good dramatic actors as well. Look at the actors who started off in comedy like Bob Odenkrirk, Adam Sandler, Bill Hader, and even Bill Burr. Even though they all started off in comedy they’ve proven to have good dramatic chops. In Bill Burr’s case, he was largely a comedian, but he’s shown he can be damn good dramatic actor as well(look at his work in King Of Staten Island). So I’d be quite curious to see how Ayoade would do in a serious role like Reed since I think he could tap into a side of him we haven’t seen and pull off the role. I certainly think he would be inspired casting, imo.

Oh absolutely, I know it's often said that comedy is harder to act than drama. But I don't know if Ayoade is one of those comedians with secret dramatic chops - in this interview he says himself that he has a narrow range: Richard Ayoade on acting: "My range is so ridiculously narrow I don’t know if it counts"

Hopefully no-one will suggest Jaden Smith as the smartest man in the world.

saw someone say will smith and charlize theron as reed and sue... awkward af considering he probably boned her while he was married to jada lmfaooo

charlize for silver sable pls. after watching The Old Guard I want her in more badass roles.

ok ngl... jon watts wouldn't be a bad choice for Fantastic 4. If it's a family comedy action movie I think he would do great. We'd get HERBIE, the Fantasticar, etc.

And marvel wants him to do other marvel movies after Spidey apparently.
