The clock starts ticking now, even if the film is to the back of the slate. A really good trailer will send us all into meltdown. What a day that will be in Hype history.

It’d actually be cool to see Norman Osborn pop up, though I’d rather he be a former-CEO and current NYC Mayor (like in the PS4 game).

Osborn could be another anti-Reed, just like any of the FF rogues.

My current FF fan cast:

It just makes perfect sense to have Doom’s tease be him sitting on his throne in Latveria.

For comic fans, it’s classic Doom. For general audiences, it’d be evocative of Thanos in this throne—get ready for the MCU’s next 20+ film epic, The Doom Saga.

Even though I just posted a fan cast with Jay Ellis as Reed, this Hollywood Reporter article about Kingsley Ben-Adir from only a few days ago immediately caught my eye. He’s getting Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Malcolm X in Regina King’s upcoming One Night in Miami as has already been discussed a couple pages ago.

Kingsley Ben-Adir Locked Himself in a Room for Three Days to Prepare for Malcolm X Role | Hollywood Reporter

The actor, 34, is making up for lost time after a relatively late start to the profession, enrolling in drama school at 21 following a stint as a secondary-school support teacher to special-needs students.

He seems like a really good choice  Who would be his Sue?

For Sue, all I want is an actress who can convincingly put the fear of God into the hearts of men with just a look. Is that too much to ask?

In order to avoid the inevitable Thanos comparison, I want my first glimpse of Doom to be in battle. A special report - or Tweet. For the kids! - about war in the Balkans and grainy video of an armored man leading a tank battalion.

They could do a version of the famous Tiananmen Square shot, with a lone figure standing in front of a row of tanks. Only this time the tanks get obliterated.

I will be happy if Marvel give us a near replica of this for the MCU. They should not mess around with Doom's design like Fox did. And we certainly don't need it to look like another Iron Man suit. Surely after 12 years they can come up with a different armour design instead of everything being a variation of the Iron Man armour?

I agree. I think Seth Rogen could own the role and bring the right qualities to Ben Grimm. He also already has the voice. Listen to him in this interview

He has that gruffness to his voice and can easily do the humour that is needed for Grimm. The self-deprecating humour is an absolute must. But he also has enough range to do the dramatic side as well.

Reading public.

Think of "gruff".

Now think of everything you know of Rogen.

...

If people want Rogen because he's Jewish...? Fine.

They want him cuz he is funny and MCU Ben will likely have a lot of laugh lines cuz... MCU? FINE.

But can we stop attributing aspects to our fan casts that have zero basis in reality?

Rogen doesn't now nor ever has exuded:

Gruffness

Toughness

Old School machismo

I'll add:

In no way shape or form does he sound like a New Yorker, Jewish or otherwise.

We all have our choices. I get it. I can't deny a person's druthers but the issue is abject projection based on NOTHING apparent in the performer or what they have done in the past.

Rogen isn't gruff or intimidating or "classically manly".

If people want him cuz he is Jewish or funny... Those are literally inarguable to me. It is EVERYTHING else that makes no sense.

There's a risk it could turn out similar to the 2005 film. Do you want that?
It really depends on how it’s handled. Personally I prefer an FF movie that hews closer to the serious tone of Hickman’s run but I’d imagine if they go campy it’s done in the GOTG style. Since they hired Watts they’re clearly aiming for a more comedic FF based on the tone of his FF. The MCU Spidey films are not really campy. They’re more in the vein of a coming of the age John Hughes high school film like Breakfist Club than something like Story’s FF films. At least Homecoming is.

I can't speak for everyone, but these are my typical pros for Seth Rogen as Grimm. It's numbered, but not necessarily in any order:

1. Extensive voicework on his resume, family-friendly fare, including with Disney

2. Strong comedic performer & good dramatic work--even in a stoner comedy or the like, Rogen still turns in a good performance that audiences respond to, IMO.

3. If he's not starring, Rogen plays the supporting/best friend role well--see 50/50 or Funny People or Jobs to a certain extent. He'd be ride or die for MCU's Reed. Even if he doesn't always understand what's going on Stretch's noggin

4. Rogen's not ripped, but he's shown willingness/ability to get in shape for roles in the past--and we've seen similar comedians getting in incredible shape after joining with Marvel. Regardless, the role would be largely mocap and not necessitate that outside of potential flashbacks / origin sequence.

5. I don't typically think of Grimm as old school machismo--he's definitely the layman of the group and 'yeah yeahs' Reed when he gets on about his science jargon, but certainly within Rogen's realm of capabilities to pull that off. I think Rogen can convincingly sit at a Yancy Street Bar with a pint and be invested in the Mets game. It's not gruff or tough, true, but it's the everyman.

Rogen's Grimm can still help Reed Richards navigate the 'real world' and protect him from the people who would put him down or call him a nerd--especially in college. Grimm's in the 'in crowd,' and brings Richards along whenever he's able to pull him from the lab.

Idk, sometimes I think of Ben Grimm as a lovable schlub, and think Seth Rogen could kind of embody that perfectly?

Lol oh see I want the Thanos comparison. He's an iconic villain now for moviegoing audiences. Of course, the similarities would stop there, but it'd set the precedent/tone that Doom is not some one-time villain.

I think that pretty much sums it up. He's definitely my pick.

And people thought Michael Keaton wouldn't work as Batman before. And some thought that of Chris Evans as Cap. Maybe people even thought that of Chris Pratt who was definitely not in shape just before he was cast in GOTG. Also Kumail Nanjiani proved that anyone can get ripped for his part in the Eternals.

Human Torch: Charlie Plummer
Invisible Woman: Erin Moriarty
Mr. Fantastic: Dev Patel
Thing: Seth Rogan

Dr. Doom: Tom Pelphrey

the studio didn’t even want RDJ as Tony Stark. Favreau was literally the ONLY ONE vouching for RDJ. He threatened that he wouldn’t direct the movie without RDJ. The studio originally wanted Tom Cruise for Stark. Even the comics artists were drawing Stark to resemble a Tom Cruise like resemblance. Adi Granov’s Extremis artwork is evidence of this:

Maybe David Harbour can be The Thing? He's gruff enough.

But with his beard now, he looks like he's preparing for a remake of a Bud Spencer flic

I'm still in the Ana de Armas camp--I think her star is on the rise and should be on Marvel's radar.

Mackenzie Davis would fit the bill as well. Or Rachel Brosnahan.

Ana De Armas would be an interesting choice for Sue. She was great in Knives Out.

Michael Cimino, 21 from Hulu’s Love, Victor could be another potential for Johnny Storm, especially alongside my Ana de Armas Sue Storm pick:

Haven't seen that. Just the first, Love Simon.

I suggest Lucas Hedges for Johnny. He can play the hothead (no pun) who loves public attention, and he will bring gravitas to the character.
Perhaps it's good that a dramatic actor takes on the role, and not a comedic one (as Cris Evans was back then)
