Do you think, then, that (for the sake of the mainstream viewer who hasn't read the comics) he needs to be made definitely different from Doctor Octopus?

I hope he's albino and as terrifying as the comicbook version, but they may tone that down for the movie as it's hard to achieve...

Hmmmm. They will obviously have to make them slightly different justfor the sake of the mainstream viewer. They'll just say "He's just a rip-off of Doc Ock." I hope they thought of that before finishing his effects

I can't see many people confusing the two if they keep to the feel of Omega Red and manage to put him in the movieverse. I doubt they could make his tentacles look like Doc Ock's and get away with it. I think they would have to be more like the comic version or perhaps like an organic tentacle that sprouted from his wrists.

If they show him holding out his hands and slithering from his wrists, then I think it would be distinguisable from Doc Ock's. Plus if they made them look different, which they do, then it should be ok.

Well, if Omega is only gonna be in the movie as an extended cameo, I wouldn't expect a whole lot of special treatment made to his attire...I think his hair alone along with his coils should make him stand out enough...Looking at him among the rest on that bridge there (of course, assuming that's it's him anyway), he seems to be a huge guy..

Plus we have basically only seen his head. I mean he could be wearing something cool...

He does look huge, and that one shot of him screaming...he looks scary.

Yea, Omega Red was nearly 7 feet tall in the comics and weighed a lot too. He was a big Russian bad @ss.

Thing is though, there is no way that the original Omega Red could fit in the movieverse, which is a flaw of the movies. They have their own look and it works too but it does mean taking a lot away from the source material and not just costumes either.

Though I don't want to see him looking like a street thug myself I'm afraid that's the route they may take. To tell the truth, after X2 and all the Matrix films I'm more than a little bored of the black leather suits. I know it would be hard for them to do the comic costumes but surely there is something that's close and not too dorky.

Darkstar gestures...some sort of dark portal opens in the air, light sucking in, darkness expanding to a cover of night...
