Screen Name: Optikal

Character you would like to play: The Green Lantern - Kyle Rayner

Powers: As a Green Lantern, Kyle is semi-invulnerable, capable of projecting hard light constructions, flight, and utilizing various other abilities through his power ring which are only limited by his imagination and willpower.

Brief biography of the character's history: Kyle Rayner was a struggling-but-gifted freelance graphic artist. He lived and worked in Los Angeles initially, but recently moved to New York City. After the destruction of the Green Lanterns homeworld, OA, at the hands of the mighty Galactus, Kyle is one of the last few remaining Lanterns in the universe.

Far way, Ganthet, one of the last Guardians of the Universe has finished rebuilding the power battery... the beating heart of the Green Lantern Corps. Kyle himself, has found himself working alongside many other superheroes as part of the Avengers Initiative, recently finding themselves victorious over the being known as The Void.

List a few reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. He's a Lantern.

"One Universe" RPG SEASON IV SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: Matt Murdock

Character you would like to play: Hawkeye | Clint Barton

Powers: No superhuman powers to speak of, but Clint is a pure athlete and tactician. He was trained in martial arts by Captain America and can almost be regarded as superhuman with a bow and arrow. He carries a quiver of custom arrows with him that use gas, explosives, flares, nets and other utilities. He is also proficient in the use of swords and other melee weaponry.

Brief biography of the character's history: Clint Barton was an orphan who ran away from his orphanage in his early years. He joined a circus where he was trained in the use of a bow & arrow by Trickshot and The Swordsman. Upon learning that his mentors were actually criminals he denounces them, leading to a near-death beating at the hands of Swordsman. Many years later and having drifted around the country, he saw Iron Man in action and made the decision to put his skills to better use and become a hero too. His name: Hawkeye.

Hawkeye subsequently joined the Avengers and spent many years drifting in and out of the team. Having struck out on his own, Barton found himself in Gotham City. The stomping ground may have been new, but the threats to humanity remained constant. As ever they were watched over by the protective gaze of the man they call Hawkeye.

Now, Hawkeye has been drafted by Lex Luthor to stand, once again, among the group of heroes called the Avengers. Serving as a ragtag group of body guards, heroes, and covert operatives, the Avengers are agents of Lex Luthor, and their loyalties lay with him.

1. Why not?

2. Hawkeye is one of those guys I haven't gotten to play as yet.

What can you bring to this game?: A moderately well-written Hawkeye, I hope.

The following is an out-of-continuity sample:

Hawkeye slammed his finger against his earpiece, listening intently as Wally West followed the van carrying the kidnappers of the president. Sweat slid drearily down the side of his face as he barreled over fooftops in the nation's capital. From behind his purple mask, Clint Barton scowled, watching the roads beneath him intently, trying to follow the van as it weaved in and out of traffic. The helicopters piloted by the secret service were on their way, and the black SUVs that were standard government issue were surely ripping up the asphalt behind the van, but when it came to protecting the president, the Avengers were best suited for the job.

"Hey, Large Male, can you go ahead and stop traffic for us?" Hawkeye spat into his earpiece.

"Giant Man, Hawkeye." Barton's teammate said, running along a rooftop across the street, "Giant Man."

Hawkeye watched as, without hesitation, Giant Man threw himself off of the rooftop and initiated his transformation into Giant Man in mid-air. Slamming down hard onto the ground on a single knee, all of the traffic heading out of the District of Columbia came to a screeching halt, save the van that held the president, which was just ahead of the superhuman's knee. Thor was already in the skies, watching the van intently.

"The van is making a break for the highway, Avengers." He cried, lifting his hammer high in the air, "We must do something!"
Lightning, accompanied by an angry rain, slammed into the ground around the van, and it swerved, coming dangerously close to rolling over. Hakweye gritted his teeth as he raced along rooftops, hurling himself over the alleyways. Eventually, he came to the end of the block, watching as Thor played Whack-A-Van.

Drawing an explosive arrow, Hawkeye took aim for the back door of the vehicle.

"Wally." He said sternly.

"Onit." The Flash replied.

Letting go swiftly, Hawkeye watched as the arrow sailed into the metal housing of the van. With a flash, the rear doors swung open widely, revealing a slew of thugs and a hog-tied Lex Luthor. As the van screeched to a halt, Luthor in full-view of his superhuman team, Hawkeye drew another arrow and heaved back on his bow. The goons within heaved the President to his feet, holding a gun at his head. In that instant, every hero froze.

Before the thugs could react, though, Luthor was gone, as if he had disappeared into thin air. He appeared again at the front of the van, next to the Flash, who began untying him.

"Bingo." Hawkeye said with a smirk, taking aim for one of the goon's heads.

This bio doesn't seem to nessecary synch up with the OU's history. What with the Avengers being a new team and all.

Got it. I'll edit. I know he had a history of being a quasi-criminal in Gotham, trying to eliminate crime from the inside out, but I wasn't sure if anything had been done with him in the interim.
