The Dark Knight OPINIONS...LEARN TO RESPECT THEM (Every Batboard poster read this!)

Is it not too much to ask for some common sense though? I mean really.

Remember the Good Morning America incident? Where the boards lit up about "The Bat-egg head". Numerous posters kept posting that and it was getting really annoying. When the FACT was brought up that it was a distorted image, it was ignored by those people and they continued on that egg-rant. As much as I'd like to say I can walk away from that, it's maddening. I'm not condoning calling people themselves stupid, but some of the statements made are. Is it so wrong to say "Man....that sounds stupid"?

PS: Nice to see ya HR

It's all about context i'd say, Ive closed more stupid threads in this section than I can count but it's hard to keep up with it all and with massive movies an influx of eejits is inevitable. My advice would be to phrase well if you must react or just mentally flip it the bird and be on about your business b/c stopping dumb threads is like finding a virgin porn chick, it isn't happening. :cwink:

Can we atleast have a debate about stuff and say why ones opinion is better then the others?

once you phrase it has having a "better" opinion you lose the point of opinion, the trick is to present your case in a strong light, maybe the person will see your point and maybe they wont, you've done all you can.

Hello Batman Forum posters.

I have come to notice something as of late. You guys seem to think it is okay to talk down to or insult people with differing opinions from the majority. Thats gotta end. Mmk? I've probated three people for it today and that will continue until you learn how to play nice with one another.

Believe it or not, people are allowed to not think that Bale is the second coming or that Nolan's vision is not perfect. You are allowed to disagree with them. You are allowed to debate with them. You are not allowed to insult them, flame them, or troll their threads. That includes posting those stupid "Wrong" or "****" pictures. I don't care if you so much as call the person an idiot. From this point on, if you cannot respect the opinions of other posters, you will be punished.

If you have any questions on this policy, feel free to ask in here.

Nice, Matt. Respect is something that a lot of the folks in this forum are lacking.

I am all for punishing people who flame others and call them idiots and other names. That makes sense to me.

But putting people on probation for saying someone is wrong is just a tad excessive.

I am not talking about that. I am talking about posting ten pictures in a row that say "WRONG", ranging from the Kevin Spacey to the Ahnold one. That, my friend, is flaming and spamming.

Why is this even an open thread.? It should be a closed sticky.

I think it's a good idea, actually, to keep it open. Giving posters a place to openly discuss the matter will probably aid in the situation.

I will never give up my rights to bare arms, wear dresses, and hate people!!

Any other rights can be taken from me and I would comply so while I disagree with your rules, I will defend to the death your right to hate me.

and wear summer dresses you know the pretty ones with like daisies on them ya know if you want to :meow:

**** off hype administrator guy.

people on these boards can be complete ****ing morons and deserve to be put in their place and not only that it is really stupid to say people are free to their opinions in the spirit of the first admentment and all that jazz but people cannot say what they want about their usually stupid opinions.

whatever.

i should not have even wasted my time posting a reply to such a stupid request.

Yeah...you're banned.

What Matt asks is more than fair. Instead of insulting, reply properly. If you think you're right, prove it.

Wow I have to admit that was just dumb and unnecessarily crude of you Capt. Jack.

Matt I don't blame you on that one. See opinions are opinions and hate is hate.

but people need to have some measure of common respect especially for the authority that steers the ship.

For someone to blast Matt or anyone else mod or not for wanting some semblance of piece even if they don't have a concrete way of doing it. Is pretty much like shooting down Gandhi.

I'm of the sort who doesn't agree with Gandhi but would use violence to protect him from people who would use violence to kill him.

So even though people may be similar in using violence our motivations can be very different. Same goes for hateful opinions I suppose.

Thank you for cracking down, there's nothing worse then pouring our your thoughts or opinions on something just for someone right after to tell you your stupid or gay.

Can we stop women from voting while were at it??

It'd be good to kill two birds with one stone you know.

"If I had my way I'd have all of you..Shot!"

Does this include not flaming people who post a new thread that some don't think is worth discussing (yeah, I understand why some threads are), but sometimes someone wants a new discussion, and boom, slammed by people.

It includes not flaming anyone. I cannot be more clear on this point:

IF YOU DO NOT LIKE A THREAD, DON'T GO INTO IT! THERE IS NO REASON TO GO IN SIMPLY TO FLAME THE CREATOR!

Why is everyone trying to abide the comment Matt made? Just read it, and respect it.

combusticator, I think a good measure of humility is needed when people flame redundant threads.

You have to just laugh it off I think some chaos is needed I'm sure the Joker would agree.

But for the ones who are too serious well they can live in their misery but instead of bugging a mod to cry about it just stand your own and remind the "too serious" jerk wads that its only the internet.

The less dependence on rules/security the more we will appreciate it and keep it loose. To do that we just have to learn the ability to moderate ourselves and the better off as a whole everyone would be.

I don't want to speak for Matt but I think that is what he is trying to tell everyone. That if we just moderate ourselves and show some humility and thick-skindedness. Along with a little respect that we make the forum more easy and fun for everyone.

You can't keep peace all the time but at least one side of the argument can just laugh it off. I think most people here despite age, creed, race, sex all can tell when crossing the line is crossing the line.

Joke around or be Serious, do whatever you feel, but in both cases remember to use your internal guidelines....common sense

Okay,

I have a situation here. What IF someone says "You're a noob" just for your comment, are you as yourself allowed to be sarcastic or retaliate?

I understand it's name-calling and flaming, I used to get that a lot on other forums, it's not nice.

Help would be much appreciated as I wouldn't like to be banned.

Hmmm...this sounds a lot like BOF. I guess it's okay to say the Joker is a generic Die Hard villain but not okay to point out how WRONG that kind of a claim really is based on all the facts we know about Ledger's performance. That's the situation at BOF where several mods over there are far more outspoken in the NEGATIVE than anyone else is in the positive regarding TDK.
