I don't know why but I lolled at this. I have to say, being a member, TSOTBF can only do so much. Some see it as something to add to their sig. I just know for myself if I see something I think is unproductive or harmful I tap that little ! button. It's what we should all do anyway. If I have ever 'flamed' I'd be surprised. But I appologise if I have.

Let me rephrase my statement. It's not all of the TSOTBF, but there are some who are just as bad at flaming as the general consensus.

Truth be told, I've been flamed for my negative comments regarding issues that I have with Nolan's universe and in return, I've flamed backed. It's a vicious cycle. A few members have given me the opportunity to explain myself while others have taught me new internet lingo (GTFO, ect ect). In my opinion, I'm just as guilty as the person who started it since I responded in the same context. I'm a mod on another board and I know the headaches that can come with this responsibility so I can dig where the staff is coming from.

I don't always agree with the way things are handled here, but this is their house and they can run it as they see fit. Membership is purely voluntary- there's not a gun to your head to make you come here.

We should respect the rules and bylaws that are laid down and if we can't, well, there ain't any bars on the door.

Hmmm...this sounds a lot like BOF. I guess it's okay to say the Joker is a generic Die Hard villain but not okay to point out how WRONG that kind of a claim really is based on all the facts we know about Ledger's performance. That's the situation at BOF where several mods over there are far more outspoken in the NEGATIVE than anyone else is in the positive regarding TDK.

Not like that at all, nowhere in this thread did Matt say you can't put a counter point to another point, just do it without flaming the person, personally if someone made a post like you just mentioned I'd not even waste my time typing out a response.

Well its good that the mods are stopping a lot of this mindless bashing. But Hunter I do have one question.

I truly hope this place does not become weak. Where now some certian people that like to stir up the hornets nest I won't say who but I'm sure you know a few I'm talking about, but I'm afraid now that they will just get to run unleashed and you guys won't do anything about it because they have a different view point. Now I'm not saying they don't have the right what I guess my question is:

What about some posters that are borderline trolls, that like to rub people the wrong way? Do the now get free reign and can just continue to use mindless responses just to make people angry?

I hope I worded this right, I know its a "difficult" situation. I just remember a movie board I use to go to, same kind of problem. History does repeat it self. But then the "underground" trolls as we called them took over and the mods did nothing. So we all left that site. I'm just hoping the same does not happen here.

1) No one said you can't debate, we are simply asking you to not call names when you do so.

2) An opinion cannot be right or wrong. If someone thinks Ledger looks like a Die Hard villain, there is no way to point out any kind of fact that proves it wrong as it is simply an opinion. There is no imperical evidence to support whether Ledger's performance is good or bad.

3) I've already said that this rule goes for both sides. The reason it may seem like we are coming down harder on the positive than the negative, is because there are so many more of you. Therefore a lot more cases of a "positive" poster, flaming someone.

Why would you want to? Its the internet. Are your feelings really THAT hurt if someone calls you a name that you must call them one back? Just ignore it until we see it and handle it. If you really feel the need to do something, press the report button.

As have I, and it will be handled. Unfortunately, like I said, it will seem like we will be doing it to the positive people a lot more as there are a lot more of you, many of whom do not know how to be civil.
