Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

If you feel so entitled that you'll only accept your idea of what the character should look like, while completely rejecting a design that clearly shows thought and attention toward the character's history and part in a story, then don't watch the movie.

Let's look at how you first introduced yourself to the forum...

So, right off the bat, multiple "one true Irishman" fallacies. That is not going to endear you to people. This look is nearly perfect to me, it has pulled many of my favorite elements from my favorite Apocalypse look, which admittidly, isn't the classic look. So how does it make me less of a fan just because I have a different opinion.

And then you fall into the same trap many have been falling into since The Dark Knight and the Joker. How many times does it have to be proven that the look that we see in screen shots and stills and pre-production still very much works when put to the screen. I mean, the Suicide Squad trailer put all doubts about the new Joker to rest. Heck, it even convinced me of some of the weirder looks the group has. It literally always plays out the same.

It is okay to not like the look. But, your opinion does not outweigh others, no matter how much you feel you are the president of the Apocalypse fan club. This is a forum about a comic book movie. But with how aggressive you have been, is it really that shocking that others are not exactly thrilled with your posts? This is a comic book movie, not a political debate of national importance.

You're not wrong for wanting it, you're being unrealistic to the tone of the films.so you set expectations on seeing the cartoon like character presented in a pretty grounded earth. Your response is also whiny and childish. FOX owns u nothing. They paid a fortune for the ability to maximize the profit by channeling Apoc to a broader different demographic . this movie is looking to make 750-1bill whether you like it or not

I certainly can't fault you guys for liking the look. There's definitely things in the costume that works. I suppose their reasoning that they want to humanize Apocalypse so he successfully turns these heroes towards his side also works.

He looks better on the cover than the pic with Storm and Psylocke.

It's stupid posts like this that I have a problem with:

Except they did get his look right.

You are entitled to a wrong opinion, but you are still wrong.

:o

I feel you but as you can see I started with...

Many of you are trusting in Singer, and he is a good director. But...much of his cinematography leaves a lot to be desired. Yes he can write a great story, but this is a super -hero movie. I want a good movie and awesome special effects.

Anyway this is all getting away from the point I was wanting to make.

I know many of you say that you like Apoc's look. That big villains don't translate well.....

Guys...I am a die hard Apocalypse fan. I have been waiting for his onscreen appearance for 20 years. He is the most quotable Marvel character (besides wolverine) in the original Fox cartoon.

What I saw from the comicon trailer broke my freaking heart. Its utterly disgraceful. And Im not trying to make people mad, I cannot stress this enough. The whole Ooze comparison that people are making...they have a similar pointy piece on there head pieces, but does he look like Ooze? No he doesn't. Is his costume corny like Ooze? Yes it is!!!

The voice is garbage...I'm sorry, but it is. The voice hisses to be deeper or he is not going to be taken seriously. Watch what happens when your voice is deeper.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AstDSzUoGfE

See you get taken more seriously. Do we really want Marty Mcfly to be harder than Apocalypse? The voice has to be altered and deeper with that same effect. You can't use some regular human voice. Even batman in the new batman vs superman is using that altered voice when he's in his iron suite. Its much better than Bale doing that garbage raspy voice thing like he had something stuck in his throat. That was just awful.

I was so happy to see that fan adjust Apoc's size and look. It was so much better than what they have. On a scale of 1-10, Id give that fan about a 6-7. Its a 10 compared to what they have though. I hope and pray that the fan uproar creates a change in this current look. Its just so bad right now.

Now I know that many of you are cool with the look. You guys are obviously not fans of Apocalypse. He is not one of your favorite characters. He's just another guy and to you and your not concerned cause you feel the movie will be good. I can understand that cause I could care less how psylocke looks or Storm, or jubilee.

Apocalypse is my character though. He has looked so imposing, so scary, so dominant, and this outfit he is in now by comparison is just corny. Sorry it is. If your a huge fan of Apoc, your going to be disappointed...very very disappointed and thats how its just going to be till a change is made.

Another poster brought up how a guy like Apoc needs to be CGI. I couldn't agree more. He should be 100 CGI like Ultron, like Hulk, like Thanos. If they made him a carbon copy of the cartoon, and gave him CGI using I-robot technology, with Oscar Isaac's voice with a deep voice effect, then we would have an awesome representation of Apoc.

I wasn't as worried about the size as I was the look. If he doesn't grow (which I 100% expect he will, many many times, into many different sizes) Then this movie will automatically be put on fantastic 4 II level with the portrayal of Galactus.

Again, Im not trying to make people mad, but those who have been with Apoc for 20 years like me. Who have the entire age of apocalypse saga in comic like me. Who watched accurate portrayals of other villains like me...then have to see this. Im just sorry. Its literally heartbreaking because Apocalypse can be the biggest baddest villain to ever grace the screen. His powers are ridiculously cool and frightening. His look is awesome, the best, but this...this is just terrible, disrespectful to the following that allowed this movie to become a thought, and fans have a right and good reason to be outraged at this load that has been presented to us as Apocalypse.

You guys that don't care, that think it fine, you have that right too, but us, the ones that are pissed and hate it, we also have that right. We are not trying to be mean or stupid, or negative, it just literally is heartbreaking for me if that is the presentation of Apoc. I will still watch it, and I think there is a good chance Ill like it, but Im still going to push and push and push for a better version of Apoc than what is currently being presented.

See unlike many of you, I am saying your opinion counts. I'm emphasizing that this may come off one way but its not my intent. I'm telling you I am passionate, basically apologizing for what I am saying but its how I feel. I don't know what else I can do accept not have an opinion to make you feel better. I never said I know more than others, I just said he was my favorite. Whenever your "favorite" is involved you're more. I like all the x-men, but Im not up in arms about any one else look. Even though they are not spot on, or even way off, Im cool with it because they are not who I am focused on. Apoc is a one of a kind villain. I think he should be done right. If superman showed up in a blond mohawk and his colors went from blue red and yellow to orange tan and white, Im sure the die hard superman fans would have a problem. Again, it was not my intention to make people mad or belittle anyone's Apoc knowledge. (as Ive stated at least 6 times) I apologize for that. I just really wanted him done well, and IMO which is just my opinion that others do share, he looks rather crappy. I also stated I would watch the movie regardless and probably like it, but I dont like how he is being done. No reason to get mad at someones opinion. State your own opinion about his look, I'm fine that you think that. I couldn't care less.

I dont think its unrealistic to the tone of the films. In the last X-men movie the "Nimrod" centennials were completely CGI and gave us the best scenes of the entire movie my man.

Please point out where I was whinny and childish so that I may stop that.

Are they making more money than the Avengers movies? Im sure those movies are cleaning up and they are using CGI to correctly convey what made the characters popular.

Avengers also makes money whether you or many other people like it or not. That is really a moot point. Not saying you don't like avengers but there was really no point to your money stats.

The amount of money a movie makes doesn't equate to it being a good film.

The only comic book film that I have actively been "hating" on is Fantastic Four and that is not because I hate the costumes (and I do hate the costumes). For a myriad of reasons I think it looks and sounds like a bad film. Apocalypse doesn't look nor sound like it's going to be a poor film.

Apocalypse looks fine and I'd rather have a short good actor playing the role than a tall non acting wrestler or whatever. The accurate comic book height thing has never been a huge deal to me. And if it ever was I got over it and realized how silly I was being.

I love you more and more everyday Spidey.

Naw like your bad.

my bad

your wrong

get it?

Obvious troll is obvious. Good god are you a troll. Also your grammar is horrendous. You come off as young teen fanboy with your trolling posts and horrible grammar. Good stuff man. Have fun.

If all you do is correct grammar and ignore the post, then you are in effect trolling son. Get outta here. Say something about "outta". Thats what your here for.

And when you hit on grammar, its usually a good idea to have grammatically correct sentences. Wow, the hypocrisy on this site is limitless so far.

Anywayyyy....

Aww poor baby. It's bed time En Sabah Nur. See you tomorrow little one.

Actually I might have to just add to my ignore list on this one. Will make things much easier haha.

Yea our school system has failed him. He's unable to follow a logical sequence in an argument. Poor kid. Im done responding to him as well. I'm excited for the film. I normally would be concerned about the high character count but Singer did such a good job with DOFP that im not too worried about that.

Also in the cmb world we haven't had that villian since joker. Loki has been great but we empathize with him more than anything. Sure the sentinels were frightening but they were still not sentient robots. This is Singers baby. Who's a talented story teller. I think he knocks Apocalypse out of the park. I'm excited for APOC's Arc

I think Magneto (both Mckellen and Fassbender) has been one of the, if not, the best villains in comicbook movies. Of course they have had 5 movies of development. It sets the bar high for Apocalypse, just as it should.

Huh!? Common man. Keaton and Batman are what, maybe 3 inches apart. Isaacs and Apoc are what 5 feet apart? Lets be real. Marvel did it correctly with Thanos. CGI because its necessary. Apoc won't be right without at least the same amount of CGI as Thanos.

Thanos looks like a cartoon. I thought he looked horrible in GotG myself (and I loved that movie).

I am not very impressed by the Apocalypse make-up but I think Singer's track record for creating villains and menace, and Oscar Isaac's talent as an actor, earns them the benefit of the doubt. Let's wait and see since nobody except for 7,000 Hall Hers have even actually seen Isaac in action as Apocalypse (and that is without CGI enhancements).

While I was not around for the Keaton backlash, it is infamous that he was considered half-a-foot too short and not muscular enough to play Batman. More recently, Tom Hardy knocked it out of the park as Bane. But fanboys were pissy because he didn't have the body of a steroided professional wrestler.

You sound exactly like them. Whatever people's thoughts were on the actual movie of TDKR (I liked it a lot), Bane became a pop culture figure overnight thanks to it and had an immediate effect to how Bane was written and presented in comics, video games, etc. Nobody cared that he and Bale were about the same height in real life (actually Bale I think is an inch taller).

And he also did not look like a cartoon, which is what too many seem to want out of these films these days.

I just don't want that amount of "augmentation" to Isaac's voice. So far, he was reading his lines perfect.

I didn't know Oscar could even belt the way he did in the trailer. That really caught me off guard. They're clearly not going for the robotic route in his appearance so we probably won't get anything super techno or deep, but I hope the performance is as Oscar Issac as possible.

Also if they do augment it it's important that it's not like Ronan too.

Fassy Mags has hardly been a villain. Seriously..

He became a villain by the end of First Class and again the main villain halfway through DOFP. If anything Magneto has always been the baddy, either from the get-go or by betraying the X-Men at some point in every film in the franchise.
