Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

To be honest, nobody cares Ultron. Especially general audience. It hasn't been a character to be remembered. In fact, even comic book fans already forgot him and looking for next. It was another failed villain of MCU unfortunately. So motives won't be problem if they are similar or not.

Apocalypse will be a great villain.Book it. All Singer's X-Men movies featured great villains. Magneto is obvious but even regular guys like Stryker or Trask. They know how to make a villain work.

And a great actor playing the character. You can't ask for more.

When it comes to Apocalypse, i think complaints will be always around fanboys nitpicking.. his look, size, voice etc. Similar to Bane in TDKR.
They did drop the ball on Bane, but not because of size/looks.
Unfortunately as CMB fans we come to these forums that are littered with crybabies. If you check the youtube threads, the GA are alot more excited and positive. It's hilarious. They're also 10x more confused. It's a riot seeing people questioning how Quicksilver came back to life and why aren't they in the 2023 future.

And yes, Fox has nailed it with the villians, from Shaw to Mags, they've been compelling and deep. I have no doubt Apocalypse will run this show. That's the thing about singer. He's a good writer and knows how to weave a story together. He isn't flawless though. Excited to see the story line in this one.

Exactly, Singer has done more good villains in 4 X-Men movies than the whole MCU combined has managed to do.

Shaw, Stryker and especially Magneto were all done brilliantly. Then there are smaller villains like Trask, Mystique and even Pyro who was done well in X2. I have total faith he will pull off Apocalypse and from what I have seen so far he has.

Problem is, all those villains were outshined by Magneto. Which is why I'm more optimistic about Apocalypse. I was so tired of Magneto being the villain every single time.

I know what you are saying but the only movie I personally got fed up of Magneto in was X3, but that's mainly because, like the rest of the movie, he was written poorly. I have loved Magneto in all of his other appearances.

I also don't feel he outshined Shaw or Stryker in X2 as they were the main villains in their respective movies.

He still turned out to be the main threat which was a problem for me. I hope he doesn't turn against the X-Men at the end of this too.

Wouldnt say he did in X2 myself, Stryker built the machine and hatched the plan after all, Magneto was helping the X-Men right up until the end. Wasn't Magneto's fault the Dam broke either.

Also in FC I wouldn't say he as the main threat. Shaw was the one who wanted to wipe out humanity. Magneto only wanted the kill the humans who fired at them at the end. What was great about Shaw though was that Magneto hated him, yet became exactly like him in the end.

He turns against the X-Men early in this one it seems considering he becomes a horseman.

Oscar Isaac quote

Quote:
Depends which comic you are talking about. There’s X-Factor, there’s X-Men, there’s The Age of Apocalypse, there’s the animated series, there’s X-Men: Evolution, so when someone says Apocalypse without referring a comic book, it’s a very general question. They may want to state which is their Apocalypse first. He’s definitely not going to be everyone’s favorite version of Apocalypse, but he’s my favorite version of Apocalypse. It’s something from the 80s mixed in with something new. They either create a backstory that he was this mutant from Ancient Egypt that found this technology and they explore that story or they send him to another universe where he’s more powerful than he’s ever been. He’s turned all these other X-Men into villains. There are different ways that artists and creative people get the chance to explore his story on a massive scale if they do. In this one, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg took the inspiration from many different sources, many different versions of Apocalypse throughout the ages and found the one that we thought was the most interesting."

Why? It doesn't feel like any of them...

That explains a lot then.

Yea I was going to post this, but it seems you had to rehash it out for folks.
The best part of Magneto is he allows for the Altruism of the X-men to shine even more. While the war type response from Magneto is to a degree justifiable (not genocide though), The X-men being the "better men" really helps.

I think his character is not neccessary to those stories, but it is necessary to the X-men. The Avengers don't have that go between. Batman kinda sorta has it in the Police force, who have been corrupted through power.

Actully i think this will be opposite.i think after whatever happens to him he joins apocalypse and is villain for much the film untill sometime during the final battle he is convinced to turna gainst apocalypse.most likely by mystique.and at end he goes off convinced his mistake was trying to live normal life and giving up on fight.

Let's remember In Age of apocalypse it was magneto who eventully defeated
apocalypse before bombs dropped on north america.

disagree strongly
Shaw and Trask, imo, were flat unrelatable characters with weak and thinly-sketched motivations, something I fear might happen to Apoc too
Mags has been great in 4 out of 5, and Stryker was fantastic
but I'm not even getting in to the 'henchmen'
So given that X-men has only had 4 real villains, yes, they're at about 50% positive, but only because the sample size is so low

hopefully I'm wrong about Apocalypse though and they really make him a well rounded villain (something he's never exactly been in the comics)

It's still about 2/3 more good villains than the MCU. And again, I personally liked Shaw and Trask and didn't find either had thinly sketched motivations. To each his own of course.

The difference with Apoc for me is he has lots of material to draw from, both from comics and cartoons. I wouldn't say Shaw or Trask do, so with all that material and Singer able to do really good villains, I have faith Apocalypse will deliver.

True, it would be a nice change for Magneto to switch to the good side in Apoc.

I still believe the end will be him going off on his own away from xavier on his path towards his destiny but i think he will play role in defeating apocalypse

I still feel like this is kind of bryan singer's version of age of apocalypse.difference here
is apoaclypse is attacking the world and not ruling north america like in comics.

like comics this was influenced by time travel only here it doesn't get fixed.and in comics they revealed both mutates in genoshia and morlocks in new york came about because dark beast and sugarman followed back to past when bishop was able to put things right.

In every film where he appears, Magneto has either been the principle antagonist (X1 and X3), worked with the X-Men, then betrayed them in the third act (X2, FC, and DOFP), tried to kill all/strategically important humans (X1, X2, X3, FC, and DOFP), and/or appropriated some other villainous superweapon intended for mutants (X2, DOFP) or humans (FC) to do so.

When Ian McKellan said: "You'll need me, too" in Days of Future Past, the response should have been a unanimous "[frick] off" from everyone in that room, because they should have known better by then. I'll bet if that future hadn't been wiped out, Magneto would have found some way to betray them there, too.

At this point, the X-Men seem to have the character judgement of Elmer Fudd. "Oh here comes that Eric felluh. Maybe this time he won't stab me in the- oh there it is."

I'm just excited to see how Singer is gonna execute Apocalypse and all that destruction.

In X1 he wasn't trying to kill anyone except Rogue and who ever tried to stop them. He was mutating the world leaders and in his arrogance refused to acknowledge the machine killed people because he didn't see it with his own eyes. Magneto even states "those people down their control our fate and the fate of every other mutants! Well....soon our cause will be theirs" how is that trying to kill them?

In X3, a movie I despise BTW and the most disappointing movie of my life, he was only trying to kill the people who created the cure and anyone who stood in their way.

In FC he didn't even consider the humans a factor, happily working them until they turned on the mutants, only then did he want to defend himself and send the weapons back against them in revenge.

In X2 his primary plan was to stop the extinction of all mutants, he only turned on all humans once he stopped and entered the machine the primary villain created.

This revisionist history with Magneto where people say he wants to kill everyone Or everyone important is just not true. His goals are mutant prosperity not killing everyone unless it's in revenge or stopping him from his plans.

Apocalypse will be different in that he DOES want to kill all humans and any mutants that don't follow him and his ideals, and he wants to create a new world in his image. Singer does very good villains and I can't wait to see what he does with Apocalypse.
