Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

We really need another X-Men cartoon. :csad:

Unless that was part of the TV rights agreement between Marvel and Fox you can forget it. And I wouldn't even entertain an XD version anyway since every Marvel cartoon since EMH has been trash!

Love the Marvel films and the TV shows but that sadly is where it stops.

Disney XD is the worst thing ever. Those marvel toons are so bad it hurts. They were doing great until 2011. :(

I'm confident I'll see another X-Men cartoon within my lifetime. It's only been what like 3 years since the anime was released?

I like some of the XD cartoons. But it doesn't come anywhere near to the quality like the Spidey and X-Men shows I grew up with.

As someone else said, what is exactly unfaithful about this Apocalypse? He has he same motivations here as his comics version.

Are you serious? We really don't know much about the character, but we do know he doesn't look like Apocalypse.

The X-Men franchise is not the FF franchise, the latter of which Fox clearly don't have a clue what to do with. I never even watched the new movie.

But the difference is Apoc is being done in the X-Men franchise and by Bryan Singer, who does good villains and very good X-Men movies. Plus, what I have seen of Apoc so far he looks totally faithful.

As great as some of the X-men movies have been, they have played fast and loose with the continuity much moreso than most other CBM franchises and the fact that Apocalypse looks so different gives me no reason to think they've changed their ways. Again, the idea that all changes made by all studios are equal is just flat out wrong. People made that same sort of argument with the FFINO; didn't work then, doesn't work now, although I'm confident that Apocalypse will be a much better movie. ;)

Apocalypse is recognizable as Apocalypse though.

Especially since his lips are more visible in the trailer.

Lips, techno-pharaoh clothes, helmet, changing size, cables.

He's even got a variation on the A.

Hmm, gonna have to disagree. When I see him in the subbasement I see Apocalypse. When I see him at the end of the first trailer I see Apocalypse too (more X-Men: Legends Apocalypse though). Maybe not that scene where he's in front of a purple light, but all the others yes.

Plus, as I pointed out to starscream, who went as far as accusing him of being INO, his dialogue in the trailer is very much Apocalypse (they even took a line from TAS). If you look on instagram there is a meme making the rounds of an apology to Fox because of making judgement based on his purple picture.

Who would you think the ancient looking techno-pharaoh in an X-men was if you didn't already know?

Except I don't look at Oscar Isaac and think "ancient looking techno pharaoh".

Yeah, but it's not just us on this board, man. People, although not everyone, have changed their tune on his look.

Really?? I guess we'll agree to disagree there. I think the movie does a much better job at communicating that than the comics.

For the record I think he looks kind of cool, the headdress thing and the detail on it is impressive. I just don't think he looks like his comic book counterpart.

I think it's a good combination of old comic book visuals and new movie elements.

Are we being serious here?

Yes?

Look, it's not classic Apocalypse, sure. I can understand complaints about the lips when we first saw him. But now that is is clear that they are in the final film, I would hope that those complaints disappear.

He has many parts of the classic look, only done in a completely different way.

Being a huge Apocalypse fan, I can see where the inspiration of a lot of the elements come from. But, again, my favorite look is the Victorian era look he had.

I will say, however, that they have yet to show us a head to toe look of him (the purple picture was a side shot of him, no?). And I think they should've left him with white eyes, but it seems they wanted to give Oscar a chance to act through his eyes too (which I don't feel is necessary as he can convey things through his voice).

I don't see why we're debating this... He looks exactly like he should. A movie version of Apocalypse.

yeah I am still not seeing how he is Apocalypse in name only. He looks like a combination of comic Apocalypse look with slightly more Egyptian and techno feel. He had two lines that were little variation of his X-Factor#24 and X-Men the Animated Series line. He has a variation of the size changing power. Only difference is his normal height and he don't have his 90's animated voice, which feels like an ultimately superficial complaint overall.

Right! Just like Domashev.

As I recall an honest amount of fans here followed Tobby Kebbell over the cliff but all have amnesia now. And this....display is just a tad simulator. So forgive me if I don't just fall in line.

It's a forum not a cult.

I'm excited to discover the nature of the tech. So much world building is about to happen!
